The funny part is that there is a group of Batman villains called the Wonderland Gang but, outside of the Mad Hatter in their original comic book outing, none of the more well-known Wonderland themed villains are part of it.

One thing I noticed is that White Rabbit's colors seem to be an intentional inversion of Jaina's. Jaina has darker skin while White Rabbit has lighter skin. Jaina has black hair while White Rabbit's hair's white. Lastly, Jaina has green eyes and if you invert the colors on those, you get a pink color like what White Rabbit has.

Taking the 'inversion' angle could go a long way to helping unify the character, especially since there's a level of inversion between White Rabbit and Dumb Bunny. Not on the color front, but there is an inversion of intelligence and build (from sleek, smart, and sexy to bulky, dumb, and brutish).

I feel like Jaina would work very well as a Jekyll-and-Hyde kind of character, AKA Jaina's lived her entire life in a tight, stuffy existence in the public eye where she is constantly judged for every small thing, so White Rabbit is a way for her to vent all these feelings without anyone being able to tie the chaos back to her. That would also explain the very sexualized outfits: they're the kinds of thing Jaina would have to keep herself from buying to avoid some kind of family scandal. Also, they really missed an opportunity for half of Harvey's body to get super stretched out with exposed muscle to make his entire body look split down the middle.

You could also steal a bit from Lady Clay. Let Lady Clay keep the copy powers ability, and give the ability to craft independent puppets & reabsorb them to Jains. You could show her being a very lonely kid, who splits off the copies to be her friends while moving around a lot and feeling isolated by her place in society & the expectations she has to live up to. You could lean into the difference between Rabbit & Jaina’s appearance by having Jaina want to dress sexy but being uncomfortable having her race sexualized, so Rabbit can have those sexy adventures without having quite the same pall hanging over her-unlike with Lady Clay, the separation of the identities is part of the appeal. It would also allow Jaina to have other personas who could do things like scout ahead, case places for her, or pretend to be her date to drive off assholes who won’t leave her alone. Just have Jaina say at some point that the more clones she has or the more different their physicality is from her the harder it is for her to maintain them. Hell, make her a lawyer and have her personally represent her various clones when they get in trouble! You could have a great scene where she demands privacy to talk to her client, then screams, and when the cops throw open the door the clone is nowhere to be seen. Anyone who doesn’t know Jaina’s secret would wonder at the mystery, while anyone who knew could have a good chuckle over the police letting their prisoner walk right out the front door.

I would love to take on the challenge of making a version of White Rabbit that makes sense. My version of her would actually be more of a riff on Jekyll and Hyde; a respected member of the upper class that can make themselves unrecognizable to indulge their more criminal desires, only with two bodies. They would have overtones of two -face’s duality and the Penguin’s “amoral wealthy criminal” aspects, but with a lighter tone and cheesecake. Why not give her an underground (!) club full of ‘bunnies’ that tempt and blackmail officials? As for her powers, I think I would go with a failed (?) teleportation device that creates a copy but doesn’t delete the original. Dumb Bunny could be a result of tweaked settings or interference from Punchline’s nanites/drugs. Imagine a rich socialite in Gotham with a spotless reputation, a perfect alibi, and no fear because she is effectively immortal due to having an army of clones?

I've got an idea to explain the different skin colours, she could have Vitiligo when both halves are fused and when they split they both end up with one solid skin colour. she could just use make up to either cover it or add it back on after the split to help keep the illusion of them being different people. plus the vitiligo could help add some more interest to her design by making her look more unique.

I really enjoyed this deep dive into White Rabbit! She has so much untapped potential, and on a personal note, as she is one of the few South Asian characters in comics, she deserves a reinvention that dives deeper into her identity and motivations. Coming from the perspective of a South Asian person myself, I'd love to see Jaina Hudson-on top of being a socialite-as a scientist or engineer who uses advanced technology to create hyper-realistic holograms of White Rabbit rather than physically splitting into two forms (think Mysterio's tech from Far From Home). The White Rabbit hologram could be a tool for Jaina to fight for victims of color who are often overlooked by society. I feel that this approach would highlight how crimes against women of color frequently go ignored, while crimes against white women receive heightened attention. Jaina’s motivation could stem from reading about a girl of color who was murdered by the Mad Hatter, with authorities (including Batman) only stepping in when a white girl was kidnapped. Instead of forsaking her cultural identity, Jaina would embrace it, using the White Rabbit persona to critique society’s biases and draw attention to forgotten victims. Her wealth and status as a socialite would allow her to fund her research and hide her true intentions, making her a more layered and compelling antihero. I’d love to see DC explore her potential further!

I feel like in the 1st White Rabbit 🐰 storyline, they could have made it that Jaina knows Bruce is Batman or is using White Rabbit 🐰 to confirm Bruce & Batman are the same person. But White Rabbit 🐰 could really use a clean up/ update to who and what she is / does.

I could see a solid characterization by picking up some ideas from a contemporary of Alice in Wonderland. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. But the OG book, and its driving ideas. Part of the original story was that Mr. Hyde wasn't some super-powered monster, but just a way for Dr. Jekyll to indulge in all his repressed urges in a way that preserved his "Upstanding British Gentleman" self image. Have the idea be that White Rabbit is the physical manifestation of Jaina's less scrupulous or wholesome desires. When these urges get to strong *POP* there's White Rabbit. But Jaina doesn't really have any direct control. Maybe grab ONE thing from Multiple Man and say when they re-merge they both become aware of everything the other was doing while separate. This could lead to White Rabbit gaining information she uses later that maybe Jaina isn't happy about, that sort of plot. But Jaina is still ultimately okay with most of what Rabbit does because it IS a release for her but doesn't break her own self image. SHE'S not the one doing all that salacious flirting and crime, that's Rabbit! We saw how down bad she was for Bruce in the beginning, but Rabbit creates this avenue for her to act on those ideas utterly shamelessly. And I'd fit Dubm Bunny into this in a similar vein. She's this idea from RABBIT about what SHE wishes she could do. Stuck amid all these super criminals, she had this deep desire to stop all this overly complicated scheming and just BEAT THE HELL out of these a-holes. And in that moment, out pops Bunny. So in story, you can have Bunny be this sort of narrative escape clause that if Rabbit is dealing with too much convoluted/powered opponents, Bunny might show up as the cavalry. But not always! I'd make that the issue, as a copy of a copy, it's hard for Rabbit to build up the required emotional energy to do that. And I could even see a minor note in the story discussing why Jaina is South Asian, but Rabbit is Caucasian. Because that's who Jaina perceives as being able to get away with all the stuff Rabbit does. Jaina knows that, as a wealthy "high class" POC, she has to be so much more mindful of her behavior and actions because she will be judged more severely for every transgression. I think it would be interesting, given her biracial background, that this would be ever more present in her mind. And maybe have her feel kinda bad about it! A level of shame at erasing that part of her in the expression of Rabbit. Maybe Rabbit can have some complicated feelings on it too, as she is still South Asian, she's still just a PART of Jaina, but also sees how the world DOES treat her differently than Jaina. Final thought: on her power, there could be something interesting in what happens the longer Jaina and Rabbit are separated, as well as the limits of control. Have a story where, after Rabbit is able to pull of some kind of big heist because of privileged information she got upon re-merging with Jaina, Jaina is hesitant to let her back in. They have a bit of a fight over who gets to do what. Have Rabbit call out the hypocrisy of Jaina trying to control her when her entire existence is based on all the ways people try to control Jaina. But then on the power side, because of this rift, explore the idea that the longer the two are separated, the greater the dividends can be once they DO merge back. This concept: if Rabbit goes out and does something for, say, 8 hours by the time she merges back with Jaina, they aren't going to have too much variance from each other. But if Rabbit were out for a MONTH, their separate lives and experiences would diverge more and more. And make it clear, NOTHING is lost on the merge. It's ALL additive. If Jaina and Rabbit split for 3 hours and just BOTH hit the gym for that, she would merge and have the gains of 6 hours at the gym. Same with social skills, same with technical knowledge. Every merge adds every experience, every split they start from the same place. And have it shown that this is making Jaina more and more cunning and physically capable the whole time, too. Bunny is kind of a cheat code but also doesn't provide much on merging back. She's not smart enough to develop any kind of mental skills, and her physical traits would only add what she's GAINED while split. Mix that with her only being able to exist in extreme circumstances and rarely exist for long, and it's not like Jaina's gonna get SUPER JACKED. And hell, I've even got some more ideas for a March Hare version that's Jaina but a dude and even more of a problem than Rabbit.

We live in a world where the Kite Man got an animated series and from time to time any Batman villain gets a miniseries in the comics. It would be cool if the Nanotechnology that Punch Line used on the White Rabbit affected her powers, making copies appear everywhere and they wouldn't agree with each other. Similar to Madrox, the Multiple Man from Marvel and Jin Bubaigawara or Twice from My Hero Academia. It would be cool to see other versions/clones of the White Rabbit for example: A Jaina Hudson-like one wearing the White Rabbit outfit , A caucasian White Rabbit in normal clothes who would claim to be the real Jaina Hudson and a Plus-Size White Rabbit.

I interpreted the dumb bunny thing as a degraded copy of a copy. Tbh, the first is arguably a degraded/mutated copy insofar that it’s an albino version of Jaina. She definitely has potential, but no clear sense of goals or motivations. I’m guessing that White Rabbit acts out Jaina’s suppressed desires. Or maybe she has DID, but was “cured” through a physical split.

In the first story it really says something about how obsessive Bats is that he starts dating someone and immediately suspects that she is a villain. Like the possibility of two women in a city of millions are the same person based purely on the fact that you encountered them around the same time hints at how entirely paranoid he is. The fact that it's true just suggests that Gotham is a lot smaller than we've been led to believe and there's only about a dozen distinct characters in it.

She can just be a wonderland metaphor. Creates dupes (breeding rabbits), summon persona's (mad hatter), shape change (Cheshire/drink me), etc. It's always changing, but expected, the main Jaina body can even morph into a wild jabbawocky form. That needs to be taken down by the rabbits when stayed into for too long. If she spreads to thin, she could even turn Gotham into wonderland it's self with the clones adopting their roles permanently.

I think the hammering out of her powers would be helpful, duplication would be a fun play on her rabbit theme each one a different alteration to her, and I'm suprised she doesn't have a sort of peripheral invisibility where if you aren't directly focusing on her you'll forget she's there, which could tie in nicely to the way she would pop up villain by villain in her intro comic.

White Rabbit has an IMMENSE potential. I think she's purely made of potential, actually, and that's kinda a gold mine. EVERYTHING on her has so much to build upon - her origen, her powers, her motivation, her aesthetic, her motive, her personality, her themes (being a rich biracial woman). And there's so little known about her that anything can be used for a mystery plot. I don't know why, but it tastes me a bit like the Sentry first story in a sense, maybe on reverse. They could play with the idea of her being around for so long and everybody knowing her but not being able to know how they met her, as she has been around forever and nobody questioning it. They could play with her powers not having a defining base, and not following any logic, in the universe (I forgot the word, I mean this being analyzed by the other characters). Imo, if a good writer "adopt" White Bunny, it can be an AMAZING story.

I'm a sucker for this character she's got a fun look with the jaina/rabbit contrast and it feels so close to being a great character if they just put a writer into her backstory. If i were to add a story i like the idea of white rabbit being her imaginary friend and maybe adding a little bit of a repression act (maybe she like girl?) with white being ideal self, ideal other or her wanting to let off steam making the question which this is something to explore. Also if you wanted to add in Mad hatter into the backstory; her having an imaginary friend he does some mind stuff possibly even trying to erase her imaginary friend only to make it poof she's out and about is a classic science fiction reversal and maybe its her dad trying to get her to be more demure* and now she can be as demure as she wants while white rabbit has all the fun and is maybe setting something up to "free everyone from what's holding them back" which fits into her original crimes and is something scarecrow likes to do with his reverse fear toxin.

I also hate when there is no explanation on why somebody would like an incredibly handsome, relatively young, altruistic man with an athletic body, who's also one of the richest people on the planet. Seriously tho, I think White Rabbit had a very rough start (both because of her less-than-impressive design, as well as complete lack of reasoning behind her actions), which caused the character to be pretty much abandoned. Who knows? Maybe even her initial arc led nowhere, because of the negative reception? I remember critics trashing the comic without any mercy... But to be completely honest I find the character interesting enough, that I would love to give her a second chance (or a fourth one, time of writing). I do think her powers have alot of potential, and I would like to see her design becoming more dignified and cool (the updates since her debut are actually quite interesting).

People with Bruce's social status rarely have problem with finding someone interested in them, even if they are emotionally unavailable. Although I do think the amount of ,,true loves" the writers *claim* Bruce had got silly long time ago. Not every girl Bruce was with has to be ,,the one". In the story right after White Rabbit debut, we see Bruce's fling with Natalya Trusevich, and the writers were *really* set on making you believe she was someone *super* important to Bruce, only to kill her off 10 issues into her existence. Things like this make you roll your eyes, whenever a new ,,true love" is introduced... But funny thing is, with Jaina it actually could be interesting. She didn't have to be interested in Bruce at all, she could be just using him. Since he was a very public figure, his companionship could give her a perfect alibi for White Rabbit schemes. Maybe she could even figure out his secret identity, since he was always absent whenever Batman was chasing White Rabbit. Like I said, I really think the character had potential, and it's a shame her creators lacked motivation, time, or skill to introduce her properly. Plus, imagine Batman facing the entire Alice in Wonderland Gang. White Rabbit with Mad Hatter, Tweedle brothers and Humpy Dumpty. That could be trippy.

Interesting. What if , as well as creating multiples, she could somehow take from others' abilities: the shapeshifting from Clayface, the Hugeness from Bane, powers she hasn't yet displayed? I seem to recall a story with Hatter snatching a young Barbara Gordon, and leaning into a pedo thing. What if W.R. was someone who didn't escape so quickly, giving her a sort of Harley origin? There's a lot, like you said, that could be done with her without necessarily contradicting what's been done before.

I think if you drop the needlessly stupid concept of Jayna Hudson and the split schtick, make her a nameless, pink-eyed albino (to bypass the issue of race, add to her mystique, and solidify her name and gimmick) swap the Playboy outfit and hoodie for a track and field outfit and accompanying shoes; and really play up the neurosis/psychosis, the obsession with Alice in wonderland (maybe have her interact with Alice and/or the wonderland gang), and the obsession with being on time: you'd have a banger Batman villain.

So after the fuse during the reveal, Jaina is holding White Rabbit's glove afterwards. Is that supposed to imply that White Rabbit is naked when they separate and has to get dressed each time? I guess that makes more sense, it's odd that she gets her own separate outfit from Jaina out of thin air, but I can see why they don't revisit that with the later split to make it cleaner.

Amazing look👏 I didnt know anything about White Rabbit until the Sirens coverage on this channel. Interesting to hear how little she's popped up. Ironic how mysterious and sporadic her appearances are, I guess she plays the white rabbit well. Would definitely be nice for a writer to tie it together.

It'd be cool if they played more on why her skin is lighter, maybe explore that this is an idealized version of herself. I.e. she wants to be sexy and carefree and also that lighter skin is the ideal in Indian culture (similar to how they play with She-Hulk's sexualization in same books), especially as a girl that grew up in India and moved into a largely white community. It's weird that DC describes White Rabbit as albino though because as she's drawn...she's not? So maybe this was an issue of artists not really liking the look and going more white than albino.

One benefit to characters like these is that they are a blank slate (give or take). So almost any interpretation can work, motivations can be altered or added on to, powers can be different. Personally, I'm hoping the character will at one point be part of the Mad Hatter gang, as it's kind of a waste to have her not be. Heck, I thought that's who Alice was when she was first introduced in the Batwoman tv show. There's a piece of art out there that has Batman thrown in the asylum with Joker because he keeps ranting about a woman running around in a bunny girl outfit and Joker is not amused saying "This relationship can't work if we're both crazy." When I read about her introduction I thought maybe other people aisde from Batman couldn't see her and I thought that would be cool if her power was driving people insane trying to catch her.

White rabbit has some potential to be a pretty damn good villain on par with Poison ivy. Say Jaina was a famous model who the Mad Hatter was obsessed with. She was scrutinized in the public eye a lot particularly for how she looks. Mad Hatter kidnapped and mentally tortured and brainwashed her into being his love, the Harley to his joker. Instead of falling in love with Hatter she would just go insane. Jaina would go to Arkham and get help but she would develop a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde split personality.

I bought the first issue of most of the new 52 involving batman. White Rabbit was interesting, and I was curious about what her plan was. Then it ended with no real explanation and the mystery was left to the wayside. Unfortunate. I hope they do flesh out her past and motivations someday.

I think the white rabbit is awesome! But, upon reflection, it is mostly about her potential. There are so many cool things you COULD do. One day, she will have a brilliant story righten for her that ties it all together. Or she could end up like marvels sting ray, and I'll get excited every time they show up, and nothing is done with them. I live in hope. (Like Superman taught me.)

I'm not sure I've read an issue with White Rabbit, but this does sort of sound like like how characters formed in the Golden age. Bit by bit over time. We often get upset when an origin or abilities get thrown at us all at once these days, so listening to this it feels refreshing and like maybe, if DC were paying Attention, the next time we see White Rabbit, the puzzle is, at least mostly, complete. Fun observations!

I really want a multi-year Batman villain gang war like in the old days where it builds up between a Riddler side and a Clock King (ala BTAS) side and eventually introducing an all Wonderland baced side as establishes villains are trators to the others and coelesing into a major gang. There are way too many Wonderland based characters to not have this happen: White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, Alice, Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, The Queen of Hearts. Heck, there is an actual Wonderland Gang with Dum and Dee, The March Hare, The Lion, The Unicorn, The Walrus and the Carpenter, and the Doormouse. I say the Batman titles are ripe for another No Man's Land type story.

I wonder if the light skin version is based on the beauty standards that she may have faced as a child. For example, everyone complimenting her when her skin is lighter and her getting scolded if she was in the sun too long as a child. She could internalize it as what is beautiful and a way to get away with things that she could not get away in her normal form. Also, I would love that she is a socialite, so white rabbit is an escape for the regity of her high class life.

Thoughts: 1- It would be interesting if 1. They made her an Homo magi since there are VERY rare in DC. Almost everybody is a Meta. Also, they should establish a connection with the Mad Hatter. Depending on who you ask the character ranges from interesting to forgettable. So, what better than do something with him?...And, eventually, connect with Alice/Red Alice. 2- There´s a thing where mixed couples can have a child that just looks like one of them. I´m the perfect example. I´m Puerto Rican. My mother and her family is white. My father and his family is black. I am white. Not an ounce of black or mix in me. In fact, not only people always get surprised by that but I moved to Spain and not only plenty of Spanish think I´m one of them but I´m even more white that plenty of Spanish.

If they did something with the "multiply like rabbits" saying, they could def pull off a thing with her making White Rabbit copies that degrade in personality and intelligence the more she makes at a time before fusing back together. That and if it made her more sick/weak the more she made to show how it would take a toll out of her. Maybe make it like her ability is specifically creating a physical entity, and its just easier for her at this point to just multiply that entity when using her power over and over. Like WR could of originally been an imaginary friend she brought to life that evolved in personality and style as she grew up.

Personally, I've always been really intrigued by White Rabbit. Mad Hatter is my favorite Batman villain next to Scarecrow and Alice In Wonderland is one of my favorite Disney classics. I love her power set and think she has a lot of potential and there are a lot of unanswered questions. I have a desire to see her with The Wonderland Gang that got like one appearance. However, given her desire to be chased and connection between all of Batman's rogues, I began feeling like tying her down to Mad Hatter was a disservice and found she seemed to play a sort of "Catwoman" role which I like. There's only one problem: we already have Catwoman. So I think White Rabbit would be a better addition to Batman's rogues if it wasn't Bruce under the cowl, or if they we were getting a run that utilized lesser known foes sorta like what Beyond the Batman did.

White Rabbit has lots of potential. Its one thing to duplicate yourself, its another to make variants via cloning. She could clone male goons of herself to do her bidding & can be both a hero & villain as 2 separate entities. Plus exploring & growing a Gang of wonderland themed villains & taking on Batman & his Bat family would also be awesome to see.

I had completely forgotten that scene from Dark Knight seven. I think things went on behind the scenes with that series because I recall Paul Jenkins quitting dc around that time. I think he said he'd been told things like he couldn't have Batman sitting down. So for all this time I thought she was just a person in a costume. And if not for your reviews of Gotham City sirens I would have been a bit surprised by the Jaina stuff in there. As if the second to fourth issues of that weren't messy enough. As a character, Dumb Bunny lived up to the first part of her name. So: Jaina has been able to summon versions of herself from across the Multiverse. Some of whom have lighter skin tone and dress this way. But after the events of Sirens she doesn't want the power anymore. Star Labs manage to take it away from her with experimental science. But in due course she gets bored and starts dressing in the costume and doing things for kicks. It's all I got. In other news, I was reading they've cast Hal......

I now wanna see her in a story where she acts kinda like Equinox no one else but Batman can see her. Just imagine a story where Batman has to solve a specific like mystery that he doesn’t even know is a larger conspiracy yet and she just keeps on popping up everywhere and then whenever he tries to follow her, he finds another part of the larger mystery at the end of the show. it’s revealed that he would not have made it on time to those specific events then, Gotham would’ve been destroyed or something like that. I think this would be good because it brings together to the aspect from the original white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, and the fact that she always appeared near villains in that run.

I always thought she was a henchman for Bane or someone else. I didn't know she continued to appear until now. I can see her (the current playful iteration) being retooled as a villain for Nightwing in Bludhaven or for the Teen Titans given her comedic interpretation.
