I've never grown elephant garlic. Last year I harvested garlic that had been in the ground for two entire growing seasons. I had planted cloves from grocery store hard neck garlic that sprouted before getting used up in the spring of 2023, they grew well all throughout 2023, but by the end of summer none had produced bulbs, they just looked like leeks. I suspect that because the garlic hadn't gone through cold stratification is why they didn't bulb that summer. Well..., I decided to leave them all in the ground over winter and much to my surprise it was back up and growing as soon as spring 2024 arrived. I ended up harvesting massive bulbs of garlic in August of 2024, it was actually pretty impressive given those plants had been in the ground for two growing seasons! I was able to save 140 huge cloves and those got planted in October in a bed that had already grown a crop of early potatoes and second planting of green beans! I'm really looking forward to seeing the results of those 140 cloves that have been resting in their raised bed since last fall, 2025 growing season is so close now!!!

That sounds like a great harvest! I did end up replanting some of this elephant garlic that I harvested, so I’ll see how it does next year. I hope your garlic does well this year too!
