From the early 60's until the early 70's (he died in '76), my dad did placer mining in the Monashee mountains. Had a cabin up there he built. I was too young to really know what was going on unfortunately! Looks like if he'd kept at it, there was more to be found.

Around 25 years ago, a friend of mine had a new claim on a small creek that fed into the middle fork of the Yuba river. He subsequently discovered a large pothole in the rock bed of the stream that was about 8' wide by 5' deep. He speculated that this hole was never discovered by the quantity and quality of nuggets he found there. In the course of the Summer, he took out enough gold to pay off the mortgage on his house and still have enough to bank a substantial (6 figure) amount. His crowning achievement was a two and one POUND nugget. (Not BS, I saw them. )

Paul that tree wasn’t there when you went up there and it was there on your way back. Seems Big foot was leaving his mark. The last time I was there I heard two Female Sasquatch’s laughing and speaking rather fast at me. Keep an eye out for the sign they leave. At about 7 to 8 km up before the big red gate there was plenty of sign and territory markings. They don’t seem to get to close to you when you have a buddy with you but they sure get close to you when you are by yourself. One can just feel them around you but if you just keep working and keep looking around as you work they stay back from you aways. One day after being up there for a few hours I decided to walk the road up and down where I was working and found a few spots where they had sat and watched me. The grass had been flattened out real good where they were watching from. When I looked down at the river I easily saw the spots I was working. They definitely had a great 👀 looking spot to see me. Good job on the Gold haul Video. 👍🤠
