Even though on the outside he was strict and old-fashioned, deep down he love his students. This is why Ichibei called them weak and Yhwach called Yamamoto became soft. Shinigami now DON'T fight each other and having peace for too long make them weak and soft compare to 1000 years ago Shinigami.

Before Ichigo, I think the captains made it a point how rare it was for them to gather together or be called for a meeting. It took them like 3 days to finally hold a meeting about Ichigo trying to get into the gate while he already was inside the gate. So captains rarely see eachother and highly doubt they remember each swords names.

I mean, we're "lucky" in a sense, because the shit that happens in Soul Society during the course of the series is *extremely* unusual. Something to keep in mind is that Officers are forbidden from releasing their Zanpakuto within Sereitei. The whole thing during the Soul Society Arc was a special wartime order from Yamamoto. So it stands to reason that not a lot of people would be overly familiar with each other's abilities, and some might even go out of their way to keep them hidden. Looking at you 'Chika. That said, there are obviously exceptions among friends and trusted subordinates. Komamura and Tosen seemed intimately familiar with each other's abilities, and Hisagi recognized Enma Korogi when it was used. Conversely, Omaeda didn't even know what Jakuho Raikoben even *looked like*, nevermind what it did. I'm willing to bet the only reason Renji knew as much about Byakuya was because he watched him fight, and went out of his way to study his technique, and even then, he was still taken by surprise with Senbonzakura Kageyoshi. Whether that's because he'd never seen it, or he just didn't expect Byakuya to throw a Bankai at him while he's pinned, we don't really know.

Aizen showed of Kyoka Suigetsu to put everyone under hypnosis, under the guise of showcasing its ability, probably for transparency or some such, I dunno. Obviously, people would probably know about Hyorinmaru, the Zanpakuto belonging to the child prodigy, and youngest Captain in the history of Soul Society. Ryuujin Jakka, cause doi. But, like, Matsumoto had no idea what Wabisuke could do, conversely,) Kira didn't have a clue about Haineko, and the Vice Captains regularly work closely together, nevermind Matsumoto and Kira being already aquainted. Gotta remember that when we first saw the squad captains all in a meeting they noted how rare it was for everyone to be gathered in one place like that and we've seen many times that the squads have a tribal mentality, they're a united organization in name only but in reality they all act independently from one another with the exception of acknowledging that old man Yama has the final say on anything and is the ultimate authority. Wouldn't make sense under that organization structure for the high ranking officers to know a lot about members of other squads unless they were genuinely friends or were originally in the same squad together at some point. Because of that it never bothered me that nobody made the connection between Ichigo and Isshin's techniques because when the hell would they even see Isshin's technique in the first place if joint missions and fighting between captains is extremely rare

The 3rd reason is a bit wrong. For 1 they had to show off their bankai to 3 other captains to become a captain. Isshin was a Shiba. So at least his close family should know. As the 10th squad captain he was close to Matsumoto & to then hitsugya. He should have also been known by byakuya.

Kubo answered that. Rangiku and Toshiro recognize Isshin spiritual pressure when they went to Karakura, but decides to respect his privacy. Remember, the Gotei 13 doesn't really recognize resignation so Isshin would probably end up being locked in Maggots Nest or somewhere worst.

Dude is wrong, the captains go through an exam, it involves a captain candidate showcasing their shikai, bankai and techniques to the head captain and several other captains. And since soul society monitered and recorded what Ichigo was doing, they could easily linked him to Isshin. This is a big plot hole.
