Great timing. My flight leaves next weekend and I start my Camino. Nothing planned, no idea what I'm doing, and never done anything like this before. Don't care. I'm doing it for me, and I'll work everything out on the way... or not...

Wow I'm on this early. Thanks for the shout out! If there are any wheelchair users looking at the Portuguese Camino - Less so the Finisterre one because I diverted a lot on that one. I'm happy to help in any way I can. It's no small undertaking and unless you are able to do some things out of the chair I would not recommend without helpers. There's the I'll Push You guys who run group trips for wheelchair users but there's no reason you can't do it with a couple of strong friends. I crawled A LOT but also there were some surprises where I thought it was going to be easy and turned out to be virtually impossible. (River bank into Pontevedra. You are such a lovely person, you were the first Camino KZbinr I watched, you were showcasing Albergues and what to expect and I booked my flight the next day. 12 months on and I've just booked my flight for my second trip.

You a shining star for literally everybody! It takes a lot of courage to venture yourself onto journey like this, it’s already difficult when walking! I wish that we can connect many people from different backgrounds and help to make their Camino(let them re discover themselves). Alone we are strong, but together we are unstoppable! Big hugs Carol

Ciao Ricky!Love your haircut!From the numbers of pilgrims that arrived these winter months I was pretty sure this year it is going to be busy. I have booked yesterday my ticket to Santiago for my camino Ingles. I have already seen prices increasing a lot compared to last year! Question: from Bruma to Suguiero is there a place I can stop in between to shorten this day? I had a thrombosis last December so I don’t want to overdo and I am happy to stay around 15-18 km per day . Thanks a lot for the help!
@caminotellers
@caminotellers Жыл бұрын
Hello Chiara, thanks! Yes, there is a place to stop in between Bruma and Sigüeiro on the Camino de Santiago known as Ordes. Ordes is approximately 20 km from Bruma and 18 km from Sigüeiro, making it a good option to split up the distance if you don't want to walk the entire route in one day. There are various accommodation options in Ordes, including albergues, hotels, and private accommodations. However, it's always a good idea to check availability and book in advance, especially during the high season. Join us for the live tonight if you have more questions :)

Excellent information as always. My wife and I are returning to continue our Camino 1 April 2023. We are starting off in Burgos and walking to Leon. We have already pre-booked rooms/beds although I like it better to just go and find a bed on the way. Not sure how busy it will be in April as we have walked in the summer or fall so far.

446,000 compostelas were given out at the pilgrim office in Santiago in 2023. Far too crowded, mostly with tourigrinos (Spanish term for fake pilgrims). I walked the Frances for the fourth time and it was spoiled by holiday making walkers.

First time I watched this video it seemed a bit discouraging when you said there will be More people on Camino this year and you ll need to pre-book accommodation. Few days later I re-watched this video and I think You have to have in mind that this is first let's say corona free year with no restrictions so probably that's one of the major reasons for increase. About accommodation I ll take your advice from some previous videos and I ll go with the flow and won't book ahead 😆 As for the prices, we all need to be prepared for that unfortunately because of the inflation all over the world. Anyway thanks for the tips , greetings from Croatia, My Camino starts on 27th of July, who know maybe we stumble on each other along the way! 😁 Take care Riki and Buen Camino!

Tomislav! How are you? Thanks for this great message, and I’m so glad you got my point( the positive part of our message). There are people on the way, and there will be, but it might not be a disadvantage, on the contrary, there are many more people to meet and stories to hear! I hope we meet on the way and have some laughter together, hugs 🤗

It is a pilgrimage, true! And it is also a space when everyone can discover oneself in it’s own special and unique way! Like a book, each of us reads different page and chapter… but from the same book. And above all, we all do it as best as we can in this particular moment. 💚💚💚

People do the camino for many reasons and the best way to do it is leave any judgments out of the Way. I have met people with healthy issues and they weren’t able to walk more than 5 km per day and met 80 years old people who walked up hills with no issues. This is their camino. They do their best. We can’t put our feet into other’s pilgrims shoes. It is not a race, we don’t get any prize at the end so telling people how they should do their camino sounds unfair. Sharing is caring and be kind and not judgemental on how people do their things is the key. My 280 km aren’t less valuable than 790 km. Or the last 100 km.

According to a recent news article in Europapress, the Xunta de Galicia has a budget of 141 million euros to designate for improvement projects on the Camino de Santiago in preparation for the next Año Xabeo (Holy Year) in 2027. There are no specifics available at the moment, there is just a wide remit to make it more sustainable, help and promote businesses that depend on and service the Camino and pilgrims travelling the routes. Accessibility improvements are planned and training of people in the various aspects of the Camino experience. Change is underway, it may not be to the liking of everyone, but hopefully it will help keep a balance between the aims of turism without impacting negatively on those who seek the modern pilgrimage tradition without all the trappings of tourism. Hopefully, it will also bring much needed financial support and meaningful employment opportunities to the many villages that are dotted along all the Camino routes of Spain and Portugal, although I imagine the greater percentage of support will likely be targeted to the Camino Frances, with the rest going towards developing and supporting infrastructure and services on some of the other routes. I guess we'll see what really happens over the next 4 to 5 years. In another article, this time in Eldiario on 8th June, 80,000 euros was paid to 6 instagrammers to make selfies on the Camino de Santiago! There are also other incentivisation schemes to help promote the Camino.
