Permanent magnet motors use induction to slow down and recharge battery. Also we need that right to repair law so we can service that low voltage stuff on EVs.

Some clarifications: 0:30 There is a reduction gear box, just not multiple ratios to choose from. 0:34 Electric motors can produce maximum torque from zero rpm is the important reason for having a single speed gearbox, not because they have instant torque. 1:03 The electric motor converts the momentum of the vehicle into electric current via the magnets and coils in the motor, not through friction.

Hey guys. Thanks for all your content. I would like to see you cover the issue of carbon footprints. One of the arguments for EVs is that they have a much smaller carbon footprint than ICE cars. However, some are now saying that high performance EVs don't really have a much smaller carbon footprint than ICE cars, and therefore undermining the benefit of driving EVs. I would love to have your take on this issue. Thank you in advance.

That argument is correct regardless of performance. Even with high-performance EVs like the Tesla Plaid or the EV6 GT, the cars are still doing the equivalent of over 100 mpg. This is particularly true in areas where electricity is generated from sustainable means like hydro, solar, and wind. Even when the electricity is generated via fossil fuel/natural gas, the emission limits at power station are far more stringent than car emissions. So no matter which way you slice it, EVs have far lower carbon footprint than ICE, by a lot. Also, EVs simply are better cars. Just some context, my doctorate is in lithium-ion battery research and this is something I have to know very intimately.
