When you start learning a new skill, you have to make conscious decisions and exert continuous willpower to practice and improve.
Only over time does a skill become automatic and transform into a habit that can be performed at a high level.
While practice is important to becoming elite at any particular skill, there are also many other factors at play, such as innate talent and opportunity.

I love this series with Wendy Wood. Before now, I just thought of habits as little stuff to start or stop, like you aim to stop biting your nails, or you aim to do push ups every morning. Nothing too important. But she's made me look at it a whole other way. These habits, in fact, influence us way more than we imagine, to the point of forming a second self, and we can use its power for so many things, like gaining a new skill or having a feeling of control

I'm not setting out to be a party pooper... After listening 3x, is its title the best, the most accurate for this video? Or, did the content deliver on the title? A half page of handwritten notes will testify I got a lot out of the predecessor "Hit Peak Performance..." I'm sorry, I feel the follow-up is surprisingly 'lite' considering the credentials of the speaker. And the example of the cellist/ensemble and cue points? I'm a musician and that was (particularly in the context of a short video where every word and example should matter) verging on random.
