The weird thing is that Palestinians overwhelmingly were anti Assad and there is a strong pro-Palestinian sentiment in Syrian opposition. I'm pretty sure Israel outplayed itself. They made short term gains but just think what the occupation and interference will do for Israeli image in Syria. Also Assad was never a part of resistance axis. He was essentialy made to open Syria for arms transfer and was actually an enemy of Palestinian fighters (some of whom were just recently freed from torture prisons). Also with the destruction of Syrian military hardware... how does Israel expect Syrian weak government to control arms trade routes? If anything they made it easier for everyone.
