In todays video I show you how I use Magazine board and Comic boards to bolt up fabric for it to look nice and clean up on the shelf. I forgot to mention that I do not pin or clip. I stack them open fold to open fold sides. Then Place it all on the shelf 😊
Hope this video helps.

I live in the giant dust bowl that is Phoenix, so I keep my boarded fabric in filing drawers. I can keep some of the dust off but it's not as pretty to look at as on your shelves. I started using the magazine boards a few years ago and have loved it. Thanks!

Ever since we got all new flooring we actually have less dust than we use to. Before I was like you and had most my fabric in drawers. I do think Phoenix gets more dusty than Havasu though.

Thanks Tiffany for the prompt reply. I live in Australia so we purchase our fabric in meters which gives me a little over 3 inches more. Where I live in northern Australia we don't have a lot of fabric stores close by so have to travel quite a distant to purchase my fabric. Thanks again Desley

very coll. I would add something to clip them shut, like fold a slice of the board over, because when I fool around with fabric it becomes unwrapped and hectic, and something always happens, and suddenly I walk into a mayhem of piled fabric.

After all that work you have pressed those seams in when you go to use it you have to work twice as hard to get rid of them. I like that they are uniform in size. Going to check my depth and height to see which work better. Thanks for the demo.

Tiffany Hi Ordered the magazine boards to start. I have watched your video several times and need some clarification. I see that you use the board for at least one yard How many yards do you put on that board? Up to how many yards?I love that You can see your fabric at a glance! I have a lot of fabric so am looking forward to getting my stash under control! Enjoy your channel. 83 and counting! made and make lots of quilts

I put up to 5 yards on them. Anything more than 5 yards I bolt on regular bolts. I just so happen to have quite a few 1 yard cuts I needed to clean up when I made the video. I didn't even think to say how much I put on them 😕

I currently have all my fabric in clear totes. Its not efficient because i have to stack and unstack quiet a bit. I hope to one day get a sewing room and shelving so i can store them on cards. I do have about 10 bolts of fabric with the larger amounts of fabric. How do you store your loose batting?
@TiffanysQuiltingLife
@TiffanysQuiltingLife Жыл бұрын
I bag up batting that's small and use for stuffing. If it's bigger than 20 inches or more I save them for bags and wall hangings. Mostly I fold it up in piles in the closet.

Hi Tiffany just want to know do you always buy a yard of fabric if you dont have a certain type of quilt in mind when purchasing fabric
@TiffanysQuiltingLife
@TiffanysQuiltingLife Жыл бұрын
Yup, I buy a yard and / or what's left on a bolt if it's almost empty. If I really like it, I will buy 5 or more yards to use it as a back fabric. If it's a blender or background, I will buy 3 or 4 yards cause most quilts need that for background. But if it's just to buy to have it, I get 1 yard 😊

Does the ink on the post it ever transfer/bleed onto your fabric? I have only used a pencil because I worry about spoiling my fabric. Am I worrying about nothing? (I’m using the comic size boards.)
@TiffanysQuiltingLife
@TiffanysQuiltingLife Жыл бұрын
I've not had any ink bleed. I live in a dry climate so there is no moisture to even get on the paper. Some are in pencil and some I even wrote in sharpie. So far no issues.

The quilt tags I do a few different ways. I either make a hanging tag and it's monogrammed or embroidered and or I sew on a tag that is written or embroidered or I do a corner tag that is embroidered and or I actually do the embroidery directly onto the backing fabric before quilting it. I started the direct embroidery on the backing fabric fairly recently since I got the machine. It isn't for every quilt though. But it's something that can't be cut or ripped off so it works. It does get quilted through though. So I won't do it on a quilt that I know I will be heavily quilted. Those get corner tags.
