A few things I found worth mentioning/correcting: - Fundamental Runes (other then Shield) are actually fundamental to the math of the game. So much so, Automatic Bonus Progression just replaces them with something Automatic. - Actually, Armor Potency does _not_ give a +1 Item Bonus. As Armors already give Item bonuses and bonsues of the same type do not stack. Instead they _increase_ the Item bonus for the Armor. There a special caveats for Mountain Stance and similar effects. - Striking runes also count for any "Number of Weapon damage dice" counting - many Armor Property Runes can also be turned into accessory runes. At least everything that works on Explorers clothing, plus 5 mentioned by name

Excellent guide as always. Love your guides. They are my last hope when there is some rules or mechanics I struggle to wrap my head around. And this is part 1? Now I am looking forward to what Part 2 for runes is! Though I could make a guess that it is related to crafting/transferring runes.
@HowItsPlayed10 ай бұрын
That would be a good guess! 😉

Great guide and great timing. Clarification - can an item have +2 (potency) but no striking on it? I thought they had to be raised evenly across the fundamentals?
@HowItsPlayed10 ай бұрын
Yes, you can have a +2 potency and no striking. But given the vast difference in cost between those two runes, it's mostly common sense that you would place a striking rune on the weapon before upgrading to a +2.

Excellent guide as always. Would have been nice to have a short summary as to changes for the remaster. (Are there any?)
@HowItsPlayed10 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think I may start adding a part at the end that talks about remaster changes. For this one, the only real, major difference is the inclusion of Reinforcing runes for shields.

Thank you for this guide! Could you, or anyone else, help me with the gm core. P. 224 "They take two forms: fundamental runes and property runes". Is the first table a missprint, or am I missing something? Main headline: "Property Runes", then in green underneath "Fundamental Runes", and then lists all the fundamental runes. Next two tables are named "X Upgrade prices", and lists the property runes (as far as I can tell). This has messed with my mind so much!
@HowItsPlayed10 ай бұрын
That's definitely an error. The heading should be "Fundamental Runes".

Cheers, I figured, but being new to PF2 I was confused!

Good video...i wonder if ypu could add an on screen marker or something for changes from legacy pf2e?
@HowItsPlayed10 ай бұрын
Good idea! In this video I think the key difference from Legacy is the existence of Reinforcing Runes for shields.

A question. An inventor at level 15 can choose a "Revolutionary Modification" called "Runic Keystone" with his "Prototype Construct Companion" so that he can use a "property rune" But what about the "fundamental runes"? The innovation weapons and armor say that they can have both, but the Construct can only use runes (the "property rune") when he reaches level 15 without being able to use the "fundamental runes" before?
@countjade10 ай бұрын
SO why would someone want two of the same property rune? Just getting in to PF. Thanks.
@xylemicarious10 ай бұрын
Only the highest level version applies, so there's no reason to have 2 of the same property rune on one weapon.
@HowItsPlayed10 ай бұрын
I can't think of a good reason, but the Remaster rules specifically call this out so I thought best to include it.

We have wholeheartedly adopted the Automatic Bonus Progression variant rule. No more 'Victory through capitalism.'

Hhhh
@aimanbenkhadra64410 ай бұрын
We do too! With the caveat that you still need a rune in order to make your weapon magical in order to bypass resistances and immunities.
