Even if it’s pet friendly. If you can’t hold your dog, if it’s able to drag you to another dog, then you shouldn’t bring it out. THEN, after the first time, not even 10 seconds later, you come BACK to where I am, and walk past us with a LOOSE leash, and allow your dog to rush mine AGAIN, before you pull it away. (Your dog came seconds from being kicked by me TWICE fyi). I shouldn’t have to step between your dog and mine to keep mine SAFE. It’s unnerving for ANY dog, to have a random dog rush them. Service Dogs are NOT robots. They are still dogs. And while yeah, you don’t have to worry about my dog attacking yours, I DO have to worry about the stress your dog just gave mine because you’re an IRRESPONSIBLE owner. Yeah. I hear you “training”. I see your treats and hear your commands. But it’s all shit. Hence why you’re dog is dragging you, why you can’t control it, why it’s jumping on you out of frustration. Go back home and practice some more before going back into public. And how fucking rude can you be to use anyone else’s dog as training for yours? When your dog OBVIOUSLY has dog problems. It’s NOT safe! Let alone a clearly marked service animal. Then to allow your dog to rush in uncontrollably after her while her back is turned? And her get the fuck scared out of her TWICE while I’m stepping between our dogs getting ready to kick yours in the face? No. You do NOT get to use me and my dog as some sort of training for your dog. FUCK THAT.

My service dog has never been attacked before by a fake, or untrained dog, but there has been a few encounters where my dog lost focus, and missed and alert because of a untrained dog in a non-pet friendly store. It's annoying and dangerous, and I wish ppl just left their pets at home. Thank god you and mya was ok after this horrible experience, keep doing great! 🐕‍🦺🖤

I’ve had this happen when I’ve been out and about with my nephews. You have no idea how bad I wanted to let the owners of other dogs have it when they let this type of thing happen. Most of the time I just let a manager or other employees know what’s going on and let them deal with it. There have been a couple of times when I’ve had no choice but to say something to the owners themselves because it kept on happening and one of my boys dogs almost missed a seizure alert because of it. Then I wait until we’re outside and talk to them as calmly as I can so as not to trigger another episode for either of them. I’ve heard my share of excuses as to why their dog acts the way they do. My response has is usually along the lines of “go when you know the store isn’t that busy or take them to a dog park. Don’t put other people’s lives and safety at risk. Or don’t bring them out until they’ve through enough desensitization to handle being out in public.” Some of them grasp it fairly easily. Others get pissy and tell the boys they shouldn’t be in public if they’re so disabled. People suck. But good on that other customer for blocking that other dog from Mya. That’s not something you see too often these days.

I'm so sorry this happened to y'all. It's happened to my husbands service dog also. Not just by someone's pet being in the store. But a person almost attacked my husbands service dog. He didn't like service dog in the food section of the store & the man made it very well known. He did a whole bunch of cussin & fussin at my husband for having his service dog in the food section. He wanted to hot my husbands service dog. That's when i jumped in. Thing's got out of hand. They guy didn't hit my husbands service & he quickly left the store.

I'm in a wheelchair, and my SD is a Chihuahua, after my first dog, over 20 years ago, back when I could still walk, nearly got attacked, and people would purposely try to hit her with there shopping carts. I even trained her to walk right behind my cane, thinking it would give her more protection.... No, people had no qualms about knocking a disabled persons cane out from under them if it meant they could also drive into there dog. Now that I'm. In a wheelchair permanently, my girls always ride in my lap and never touch the floor. I won't risk them. But I still have to worry about other dogs lunging at us. And I'm now down at head level to many of these dogs. I had someone lab jump in my lap, trying to get at my SD who was inside my coat, only her head was out. He left 27 bruises on my chest, stomach and arms. I had to keep a protective arm around Sophie, if I hadn't, the force he used to jump on me could have killed her. She was only 5 pounds trapped inside my coat. He had to have been near on 120 pounds. Half the bruises took over a month to heal on me... The owner didn't even try to pull her dog back, just stood there and yelled at it. It was two store employees and an off duty cop who finally pulled the dog off me.

They are a lot of careless people out there. They just don't want to obey the law. Don't worry, they will get into trouble either way. Don't listen to them, they are haters. They are only hurting themselves.

I hate this so much! I don't have a service dog but I do walk dogs for a living and the amount of people that let their dogs just freely run up to yours with absolutely no regard for anything! (considering I walk on normal side of the road pathment, I'll only walk there with the dogs that get nervous of other dogs as they should legally be on the lead, and the minimum you'd expect of the owner is to have total control of their dog if they've decided to take their lead off in a dangerous area!) People are so bad with this they really are, your little Mya did so well 🩷

In Texas they finally made a law that if people pretend to have a service dog, they will have to pay a hefty fine they’re finally not allowed to bring pets in the stores so that’s a plus for people who really need a service dog 🎉

Umfortunately it does little good if employees aren't allowed to ask the questions or for people with misbehaving dogs to leave

Unless it’s a REAL SD they don’t need to bring them into the store. That’s only a privilege to actually SD’s . They need to keep their pets at home! I’m so sorry that happened to you and your dog.

And this is why I don't bring my dog in anywhere unless I have to. If I'm going to be in town I take her to my mom's house. She's a good dog, but I know that would not be a good experience for her or anyone else.

There are a lot of stores that have changed their dog policy from friendly to service dog only because of ESAs and fake service animals. Just stop already! You aren’t just ruining it for the service dogs, you are ruining it for responsible pet owners who want to take their gummy bear babies with them everywhere. My dog is a nationally and locally certified therapy dog as well as holding her canine good citizen advanced and urban. After a year of therapy work on her resume, she can apply for crisis responder therapy dog and can fly to mass shooting and natural disasters. I have had eye rolls from the vet to the airlines over her. Once I explain what she isn’t an untrained ESA, they were very supportive. Not every dog needs certs to go Home Depot, but every dog must be trained before doing so and shouldn’t be banned from doing so cuz they aren’t service animals.
