This was exactly what we’ve been looking for. Everyone is talking about nutrition however, this is the first time somebody’s actually mapped it out. Looking forward to several others!

I always enjoy the videos with Leon Chevalier. He is thoughtful, articulate and, of course, a talented triathlete. Plus, Snickers is also one of my favorites.
@darthjohn0 Жыл бұрын
It should be noted that Leon's bike time in South Africa was 4:11 and that many age groupers spend almost this much time doing the bike leg during a 70.3.

Wow he really knows his numbers! I love these deeper dive videos for subjects that are really hard to cover succinctly - super informative video.

That's helpful, doing my first half in September, never gone beyond an Olympic before where fueling is less an issue

Yeah… so I definitely made fueling mistakes in my race today which resulted in cramping in both my thighs during the run. First duathlon done and dusted, though. And I’ll definitely do another.

Best hack someone gave me was to have the two cage bottles with 3 hours worth of electrolytes each for my 6ish hour ride. Rather than thinking of it as oz per hour of a mix and having to stop and pick up more electrolyte bottles I get it all without stopping and know I need to do one in the first half and the other the second half. I also have a small aerobar tank where I’ve got water to drink to thirst as needed and can top up on the course. Clearly I’m out there longer than the pros!! I also had two 5 gel packs in my tri suit from Gu where I put in the gels from their large 15 gel size container. No fussing with individual gels, twist and go is so much better and no trash. Same as the electrolyte bottles - one first half and one the second half I did this during training and it worked flawlessly in my race. Snack in the middle - uncrustable just for fun - also in my tri suit.

Elastics bands are prefect. Possibly tape on the bottom of the bottle so it can’t slip out.

Very helpful seeing this setup and given some ideas for fueling and storage. Im doing my first ironman this year in Bolton and will defo make use of the bands to make sure i dont lose any bottles.

@gtn would be good to understand the pros and cons of carrying all your nutrition (including fluids) vs picking up on the course. there are plenty of videos on nutrition quantities (grams per hours etc), but no good video on the logistics for a full IM. A race breakdown of how, when and what pro athletes fuelled; or a race simulation video would be very helpful. could you please do another one of these for a full Ironman?

Don’t get me wrong, super informative. But he is a world class Triathlete with a much shorter time to fuel for. What do us mortals do when we need to fuel for 14 hours for an Ironman instead of 7 hours like these pros. Seriously question if anyone can help please?
