I used to have systolic blood pressure in the 130's to 150's. I had a six pack and could run a 3 mile in 19 minutes, I was in the marine corps. I got diagnosed with hypertension and got put on medication. I gave up caffeine and still struggled with blood pressure for years. This past year in pandemic i stopped working out and put on 20lbs... I've also been trying to eat more metabolically healthy so a lot of red meat, whole milk, bacon, salt and eggs. i would say that makes up 70% of my diet. I've also been taking magnesium with other trace minerals along with desiccated heart. My blood pressure reading most recently was 108/72!!

Get rid of Animal products or else inadvertently you will be pushing yourself all sorts of expensive diseases. Take good care. Cheers.

I read that back in the 70's blood pressure readings weren't considered high unless over 160/95. The standard is so low now it's crazy. The article said lower numbers weren't based on anything scientific, just Big Pharm wanting to sell more drugs. We are all different, if my body was supposed to be around 160/95 then doctors shouldn't intervene trying to get it unnaturally lower. Some folks may have a 120/80 as a natural reading for them. To get everyone as close to 120/80 by using prescription drugs is very stressful for many. Right now I'm following Keto. Carbs, inflammation and high blood pressure seem to go together.

Dr. Gupta, thank you for your time and another educational video🙏 Since I started intermittent fasting, my health has improved in all areas. Allergies Sinusitis HB Pressure I'm losing weight I'm not hungry I sleep better I stopped snoring I have more energy My BP has dropped down so much, which I'm monitoring every day, so next time I go to see my family doctor, I will show him the record of my daily BP reading and ask him to reduce my BP medication. I believe intermittent fasting is a solution to get me off BP medication permanently. I used to be so anxious just going to see my family doctor wondering what my BP numbers would be. Since watching your videos, I understand BP numbers much better. In Europe, 140/90 is considered a NORMAL BP. So, if I lived in Europe, I wouldn't be on BP medication. Dr. Gupta, you have changed my life with information I'm learning from you. I must say, I'm using vitamins and drinking Herbal Tea's. I am not eating any sugary products. I only eat two meals a day REAL FOOD, and I'm NEVER hungry. I also exercise daily. Intermittent fasting is my new lifestyle for good.

Dr G, thanks for the videos you produce. I tend to have this problem (high sys & dia) and despite many tests and treatment attempts nothing really seems to work and side effects are unpleasant, so I no longer take any medication. The only thing that has show up as not normal, apart from BP, is the fact that I have a large renal cyst, (now cysts) on one kidney. My own "research" has found multiple cases worldwide where hypertension has been lowered by aspiration or marsupialization in cases like this. I cannot get any medical professional to take this seriously and accept this might be worth exploring as a possible cause. I wondered whether you have any experience in this area and would be grateful for any suggestions.

What do you think about sitting in a far infrared sauna at about 135 degrees, or what can be tolerated, everyday and use a near infrared heat lamp focuses on the kidneys and general torso? Blood pressure goes down significantly and the only risk is the discomfort of sitting in a hot sauna or getting too hot with the heat lamp close up. It obviously is non invasive to the body with those risks involved, and very cheap compared to a surgical procedure and doesn't involve a doctor. My theory is, if it is done everyday over a prolonged period of time, it may cause changes in the body that will lower the blood pressure permanently. Are there any studies looking at the effect of sauna on blood pressure?

lifestyle is always king with blood pressure, & nearly all of the time its from chronically high insulin & blood sugar from a poor diet high in carbohydrates of all kinds, & once the body becomes insulin resistant the blood pressure begins to climb the closer the person gets to type 2 diabetic. I have never see a situation where an individual who lowers carbohydrate intake right down & adopts a ketogenic lifestyle does not lower blood pressure, now whether they get it down to the ideal level will be based on how much damage has been done to kidney function & other damage to the body which affects blood pressure. High blood pressure is a symptom of something else, medicine just puts a plaster over this problem, lifestyle is the cure.

But sometimes notice that all of a sudden It jumps to 145-70-66 , for only couple of days and back to normal.

While I agree with you to some extent that may not always entirely be the case. I had high blood pressure and have been on a ketogenic way of eating for about 18 months (fasting BG 4.9 and ketones about 1.2) In that time all my metabolic syndrome markers have improved (including BP) but I'm still slightly hypertensive. Like you I thought I'm doing all the right things my BP should be "normal" but it wasn't so there could be other stuff going on too, its a multifactoral issue. So I'm on a low dose of meds and that's doing he trick. This treatment and others is dealing with a symptom, we still need to understand better the less obvious causes of hypertension.
@bm2g
@bm2g 4 жыл бұрын
@@ralphtaylor9968 like i said lowering carbohydrates right down & becoming insulin sensitive again will lower blood pressure but it all depends on how much damage was done to kidney function & other things that impact blood pressure, people can have high blood pressure for years doing damage to the body, glad its under control now.

with respect, I can't understand why everybody focuses on BP so much. Who decided the ideal BP? Where is their science? Who decides the ideal BP? The pharma companies, the AMA who are funded by the pharma companies or the researchers funded by big pharma? Why is it that recent studies are showing people with lower BP are more likely to die? It reminds me of the cholesterol con. Studies have shown the lower the cholesterol the more chance of dying... Sorry, I would post links to the studies for examination, but I don't have the time to find them right now.

@@TalkingOutOfSchool ; I have been on meds (Amlodopine 10mg) for around 6 months with limited effect. Around 3 months ago I started drinking high quality Pomergranite juice and almost immediately my diastolic dropped to under 90 and remained ok at home. I now also eat raw 5 cloves Garlic and organic Beetjuice VERY GOOD !(1 week) and that also has dropped my Systolic rate. I have optimal readings EVERY morning now, but still spiking and too high during day , but still slowly improving. Doctors reading always too high ( White coat anxiety ? ). It just shows to people out there to research diet and change lifestyles ; exercise !! cut out sugars, salt and ALL processed foods. Cut down or expel Alcohol. Try giving up smoking . Funny how Doctors just give you a short period and then put you on meds, probably for life. They never give you say, a diet list outlining the foods that will have an effect. Eating the superfoods out there WILL have an effect . People out there MUST look into all these and ensure they are properly hydrated .

First I would to say that your channel is one of the best...without a doubt. But I am surprised that you have not discussed the benefits of putting patient who exhibit refectory hypertension on a ketogenic diet. Hyper-insulinenia is, without a doubt, a major driver in hypertension. Almost systematically, when patients are put on a very low carb diet their blood pressure drops....sometimes quite dramatically. This is why people who start a ketogenic diet should actively monitor their blood pressure if they are currently taking a anti-hypertensive. Renal denervation is accomplishing nothing but inactivating the renal information pathway in association with cardiac control and pressure. It seems somewhat barbaric. Thank you for all the time you put into these videos. They are a great help to so many people.

Should mention the elevated BP preceded the kidney problems, which were caused by an episode of acute kidney failure induced by the interaction between Lisinopril and a single standard dose of doctor-prescribed Ibuprofen.

@@susanwoodward7485 WOW. Thank you for sharing that, Susan! I have been reading about other people who have experienced acute kidney failure due to taking Lisinoprel!! Now I don't know if theirs was caused by an interaction of Lisinoprel with another drug or not. OR if they just didn't connect that fact? Hmm?🤔 I take a low dose of Lisinoprel, which is 5 mgs per day. It lowers my BP really well, but I keep worrying that in the long run it might damage my kidneys! #YIKES! Hello Sanjay, I have a blood pressure question. If I am sitting in a chair arm extended, my blood pressure is anywhere from 160-180 over 95-110. If I lean back arm extended upward my blood pressure is 120/70. An acupuncturist said I am not hypertensive and should not be on medication, which I will not take anyway. I eat 95%+ organic vegan diet, my chloresteral is 140, not diabetic, don't drink or smoke except occasional glass of red wine and maybe 1 hard alcohol drink per month, but I am about 8-10 lbs overweight and I should exercise more. Recommendations? Thanks

No need to exercise more Identify the triggers for your high bp and fix them That is only possible if your dr takes a one hour history which includes dietary , lifestyle , occupation environment and social history which they don’t do Do the right blood tests focused on the root cause and not the symptom or disease For them controlling the disease is more profitable than curing the disease If you want to reverse your bp naturally connect with me through my website www. wellnessdr.in Dr in Lifestyle medicine MD USA 🇺🇸

I told my friend in 2009 who is a renal consultant that BP should be managed by kidney specialists since from my pharmaceutical knowledge most anti-hypertensives work on the kidneys. He agreed. I thought I share this belief with you. Other thing is most GPs do not look at high blood level of uric acid as a possible underlying cause. This is a metabolic syndrome. Most GPs reach for a prescription pad as soon as a high BP reading is found !! Do you investigate uric acid level in your hypertensive patients?

Yes uric acid should be included in the tests The simple permanent solution which I do with my global patients 1) Take at least an hour of detailed history which most of the drs do 2) identify the triggers causing high bp and fix them 3 )do the correct blood work which should include the inflammatory markers 4) Reduce weight if overweight Reduce salt increase MG and potassium intake only if you are not on ACE OR ARB drugs Address sleep and stress issues Take supplements go on a plant based diet mostly You can reverse any high bp easily without any medicines if you have not developed any complications of high bp Connect with me through WhatsApp listed on my website if you need advice www.wellnessdr.in Dr in Lifestyle medicine MD 🇺🇸

Sue, you get better BP results by what you DON'T eat than what you eat. I had the same problem. Are you overweight? A lot of people's blood pressure naturally goes down when they eat a low carb diet or even a keto diet and lose a lot of fat and water weight. Too much sugar and insulin in the blood can cause high BP problems. A low carb diet will reverse this problem. Also, your cortisol may be high due to high stress.Get plenty of good sleep and meditate. Many people's BP went down when they reduced their daily meals to one or two a day. Fast for 18 hours and eat in a 6 hour window everyday. Or 16 hour fast and eat in an eight hour window. Part of the fasting time is when you are sleeping. Also don't eat fake processed foods with chemicals and fake fats like vegetable oils. Use extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil and real butter not margarine. Get lots of potassium by eating avocados everyday and leafy greens daily. Take a magnesium supplement daily.

Black Water That’s a good heart rate. You didn’t mention what your BP is, and why you want to raise BP. Running and lifting weights should lower you resting heart rate and BP, by the way. If you are not dizzy, or feeling like you will faint or black out, I don’ think you should worry.

THE FIRST PRINCIPLE OF GOOD HEALTH Renal sympathetic denervation is used to treat "resistant hypertension" that may be "essential hypertension" that cannot be identified. Essential hypertension (also called primary hypertension or idiopathic hypertension) is the form of hypertension that by definition has no identifiable cause. Renal sympathetic denervation conforms to the triad of Western medical practice: cut (surgery), poison (chemotherapy and prescription drugs) and burn (radiation therapy and cell-killing heat), and it ignores the ancient wisdom of creating conditions to allow the human body to heal itself. In order for lifestyle and nutrition programs to be effective for good health, the First Principle of Good Health and the one essential prerequisite is Discipline. Individuals who do not have self-discipline cannot succeed in achieving and maintaining good health. Many individuals intentionally, knowingly, willfully, voluntarily, freely (synonym overdose to cover all the cases) choose to pursue unhealthful activities and unhealthful substances, e.g., consuming caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, recreational drugs, toxic and poisonous foods such as refined sugar, refined salt, refined flour, as well as overeating, and poor nutrition that does not include all essential nutrients, minerals, enzymes and proteins (amino acids). In short, many individuals choose to be unhealthy.

I recently read that denervation of the kidneys was not a long term solution. Have you seen it? If so are you still recomending the nerve denervation if you have seen it. I have had high blood pressure since my early 20's . Diastolic is in triple digits despite being vegan , excercise regularly , low fat diet , low salt , virtually no sugar or salt. Systolic is well over 200. Total cholesteral is under 100 taken three years ago. I refuse to take the latest meds my doc prescribed because of foul flatulence as a side affect. Every doctor I have been too I have told them to find the reason for my BP but none seem willing to do anything but offer meds .I am not taking them. I feel fine and have no problem excercising including walking hills and biking. In the US I wonder if this is even available at request.
