How do we feel about the gear squish update everyone? Looking pretty good in dark and darker after the wipe. Very excited to see some substantial changes from Ironmace heading into the wipe this coming weekend. Longsword for life boys!

This update in general is a big fat W for IM. Gear diff reduction, free normals, shared stash, cut down on throwable cringe, better MS balance, love it all.

IMO whats boring is having to hit a PDR fighter 15 times before he panics, but if I get hit once I die.

I didn't experience this once last night at least in normals. I watched a couple other longsword bros get trounced hard in HR through streams last night as well. PDR SnS fighters definitely fall into this category though. Barbs as well with the pdr you can still get and the crazy hp they can stack

Big worry for me is pdr being able to drop swift because of the ms changes. Like you said sprint needs a quick nerf so that there is a penalty for wearing heavy gear.

Yeah the more I played the more I realized the adjustment to agi curve has left the game in a pretty similar state to prior to patch. You will be kited to death if you don't 100% kill a player trying to kite you when you pop sprint still. I'd still expect a nerf to sprint coming regardless lol

I really like the quests. I DONT like doing the quests several times each. The quests require enough time to justify being shared between classes imo.

@loganscalise7206 true! It helped me finish the ale quest which was awesome! However, i dont think we really need to farm 6 gold per character (for example). With the amount of quests and the effort per quest on average, plus the frequency of wipes, i think making them account-wide would be better and would likely give people more incentive to do them. Right now, i swap to a different character and think "damn...i havent done any quests on this guy. Maybe i should play something else." OR i think "there are so many quests... ill never catch up at this point so screw it." I think this is a main reason why the last 3 quests for cosmetics were unlocked for all. The vast majority of players had not done the prerequisite quests.

Reducing plate movespeed penalty is mega cringe though. The rest is cool but the whole point of plate is slow but tanky. Now you're still tanky but not very slow.. And yeah as everyone is saying, sprint nerf. Sprint has needed a nerf for a LONG time. Glad people are finally realizing

Armor move speed reduction did get buffed. But Idk how big of a buff it actually is yet due to the fact that move speed bonus from agility is now on a steep curve.

Yeah the change ended up leaving most of my ms/agi builds in the same exact spot ms wise as before. Plate/leather fighter set ups with longsword

Wizard feels like it’s prettt much dead in the water tbh. Increased TTK for tank classes was nice for frontline battles, but the opposite seems to be true for casters. I’m sure they can balance it, and I don’t envy the devs one bit for figuring it out. I may take my first break since launch next wipe though /sadge

What's your opinion of the changes to the magic resistance curve? (They raised the percent magic resistance you get from resist rating)

I'm not gonna lie, I didn't notice a difference when I put on my one magic resist kit I was derping around with from prior to stopping playing HR xD. It's at 49% mdr now and I genuinely do not remember what it was at prior. Barbuta, dark plate, dark leather, dashing, torq of soul, MR rolls on rings/cloak

I think this will abrogated MS builds. First match after change kiting was all I saw. I agree, this whipe was abysmal, they screwed their second season, and it was so bad I almost quit. This season is my last shot for them. They should have given out this seasons rewards and just rewarded ranks with blue and red tokens... second ranked season 0 stars.

I agree. Having played a few hours I witnessed endless kiting still myself as well despite sprint being "overpowered" now lol. Guess we'll see what other changes come with the wipe update in a couple days

Promise you the game will feel 1000x better if you take a break and do something else or play something else instead over that time. I just came back and despite being able to see all these issues, I’m very much enjoying my time. I missed this feeling when playing the game.

What worries me about free to play, is how are they going to monetize all the free players? If it's just redstone shards and converting users to buying the full game, I'm worried they don't have enough cosmetics and that they won't get enough conversions to pay for the extra server load.

I think the monetization lies in the fact that they only get 1 class and normal lobbies only. People will pick up gear and eventually want to use it (if they like they game) so they will buy hopefully

with everyone move speed cap and with more HP ranger is dead in the water even more than before. Unless you're a boring trap andy that class is done despite what reddit wants to tell you. I do think this is good for the game but 90% of lobbies with just be move cap fighters with 60%+ PDR stat checking eachother

Hmm. I didn't experience this day one at least. Saw a lot of rangers still kiting well since the agi curve change made agi stacking on all classes way worse so fighters/barbs die if they misplay sprint/rage which isn't that hard to do when you can remove the entire ability buffs by hitting one shot since on hit slows are %'s. I think it'll end up in a similar place before balance wise but less damage overall will increase the ttk

seems to me the new try before you buy is just a lazy way to deal with the cheating problem, most cheaters won't bother buying new accounts and will just plague normals from now on leaving HR relatively cheater free. also new players struggling for hours finally getting out with some greens/blues only to find the items are useless beyond vendoring for some gold will just uninstall the game 9 times out of 10. actually making the game F2P and introducing a battle pass or something would have been a much better way to go imo. as for the gear changes, from what i read the MS stuff seems kinda not well thought out, the stat squish was definately needed but we'll see if it's enough.
