Tanuki, or Japanese raccoon dogs, are a canid species important in Japanese folklore. "Kijetesantakalu" is the word in the Toki Pona language for raccoon-like animals. Kijetesantakalu is a joke word for Toki Pona speakers because its length and specificity are against Toki Pona's design principles and stand in absurd contrast to every other Toki Pona word.

I was absolutely not expecting to fw/ this. I instinctively moved to the new jan Misali rectangle in my subs without reading, but noticed " parody)" in the title and cringed with realization as my finger was already in the act of depressing the mouse button. I'm not... the biggest? fan of music parodies, or of the song being parodied, or of the parodier's,,, _acquired_ taste in digital instrumentation? (also, I thought from the opening text that this song was going to be on "cute fraud" levels of inside baseball.) But, somewhere between the small break and the first chorus, I realized, _wait. This song is FUNNY! These lyrics aren't missing!_ I am in awe, possibly arousal, at the way Misali makes every chapter in history sound like The Dumbest chapter in Mario history.

misread the title as "how do we know what's mainstream?" and thought you were about to sing a song about how the immediate availability of most aspects of culture thanks to the open source-edness of the internet has thinned borders between communities and created a massive voice for independent creators, so much so that "internet celebrities" are pretty quickly approaching the status of "real" celebrities, and that it's becoming harder and harder to accurately predict what someone would consider "common knowledge" or is believed to be "mainstream media".
