Not only Ursus americanus is not the only known Creature to hibernate, also, includes unique reptile, amphibian, Invertebrates that little known data exists, it is just generally accepted in some Northern latitudes where daylight is so scarce in the winter. Locally I have identified various stages and sexes of the Northern American Hyalophora cercropia doing just that, or at least securing shelter, rest, and cover with variable risks to hide under bark of snag, firewood left then in the field, to the female Cercropia 's needs, while discovering and photographing an amazing male of the Species lower in elevation, but utilizing Forest woodlands and openings, variable Species including Quercus Species as habitat.
