Mine have never worked even in the oven, but seen in the comments about corn flour, so I am going to try that 😊 I really appreciate that you only show first take cooking, so we can learn from your mistakes as well as enjoy your successes thank you, others don’t show or turn off camera then turn back once corrected 😊

@queeniemyles4028 thank you Queenie, sometimes I feel a bit of a plum putting out the mistakes, but its the reality of trying something new. I'd rather that than be super polished - or too perfect (never!☺️)

I always use beef dripping for roast potatoes it’s so flavourful. It’s becoming more popular again my mum always used it way back in the 60s and 70s used to buy in our local butchers.

Hi Kerry, I coat mine in corn flour, sweet potatoes seem to release a bit more moister when roasting, they are like parsnips and I warm the air thingy for 5 minute before hand, throw in a couple of garlic cloves (squashed) with spray oil, I dont think heavy oils work very well in air thingys you cant get the oil hot enough and keep it hot through short cooking time.
@dilsie3268Ай бұрын
I’ve tried them too Kerry, though I did wedges but they always seem to be squishy, might try the cornflour tip, another great video ❤

Hi Kerry we had sweet potatoes for tea today , I added paprika and garlic granules to them , and some red wine vinegar loverly I just do mine with olive oil spray light, and did them in air fry.. of course , you need to do whatever you like . But worth a try to compare , also added mixed herbs I had dried myself they do not crisp .like normal potatoes Kerry I cooked mine for 25 mins at 200.

I make sweet potato fries by coating them in some oil (cold pressed rapeseed is best!), then I sprinkle them with some polenta and smoked paprika. Sometimes, if I fancy them a little spicier, I add a little hot paprika as well. Yummy alongside a good burger!
@budgetcookingukАй бұрын
Ooo delish Alyson😋😋what temp do you cook them at? X
@alysoncaddick6344Ай бұрын
@budgetcookinguk I start them off at 170ish (don't ask me how long for, I rarely time anything!) then, when cooked through, I raise the temperature to 190 until crispy. Yes, sweet potato can take quite a time to soften up!
@budgetcookingukАй бұрын
@alysoncaddick6344 fabulous thank you Alyson 😀💕

I would avoid seed oils as they are sprayed with pesticides which are toxic. Olive or avocado oil is better

@@carolmckeever1037 cold pressed rapeseed has a higher smoking point and bought from a reputable farm!

Me I only like them when they’re crispy. I saw some people tossing them in corn flour before putting them in the air fryer. I haven’t tried it yet.
@budgetcookingukАй бұрын
The crispy bits were extra tasty but I'd love to figure out how to get even crispiness (is that spelt correctly?!😄) need to try cornflour next time👍👍

or possibly semolina ? I know some TV chefs promote dusting your spuds with it to get crispy outers when roasted

I have only had sweet potato fries from the supermarket (Yes, lazy I know!) They are coated with something but even then they don't go very crisp.

It seems like cornflour or similar 🤔👍is worth a try

@@budgetcookinguksome of the commercial ones use rice flour to coat the fries, or maize flour.

I make these for Carol but I'm not a fan of sweet potatoes,because she attends a slimming club I just spray them with a 1cal spray and cook at 200 for 20 minutes,another enjoyable video Kerry,did you get my email about the Caramel Apple Betty I mentioned on the live giveaway the other week there Xx

Too much oil/fat makes them soggy. Lightly spray them with Avocado oil spray or only toss them with 1 teaspoon of fat. Use the crisper plate. 400F for 20 minutes in a single layer. Toss after 10 minutes. that is how I do mine.

Shouldnt use airfryers, full of non stick chemicals and radiate your food

I heard yesterday about black plastics having Bromide in and very toxic. Should never be used in anything that touches food.
