I (I am also Jewish) had this conversation with my Jewish friends and they while living relatively comfortable lives, never having experienced antisemitism, believe that there are nazis around every corner that want to destroy Jews. They use this fear to completely absolve the atrocities committed against Palestinians. A lot of Jews have conflated the existence of Israel as an ethno-nationalist Jewish state with the survival of Jews as a whole. And now no red line exists that will prevent Israel from wiping out whole family lineages. A lot of Jews have become the thing that they are against. Never again only applies to them. They see no similarities in the struggles of African apartheid. They see no similarities to the plight of the Irish Catholics in Northern Ireland. My Jewish brethren have completely lost the plot.

I agree, the idea that Israel only started bombing the areas they told people to evacuate to after the end of the ceasefire (like James and many others have kept repeating) is contrary to observable reality. Many actions by Israel that people are now saying have crossed the line have been ongoing for months. No apartheid state should exist. No occupation should exist. Therefore Israel should renounce both the occupation and their apartheid policies. One person one vote. Citizenship for all people born within the borders. Right of return for refugees. No segregation of simple things like the water distribution or ability to rent or own property etc.

I actually enjoy those opinions who disagree with my own. Surrounding myself with like-minded views seems false...and a bit lazy. Disagreement certainly doesn't mean we have no reason to talk, on the contrary! All the more I wish to engage those with an opposing view...I may learn something, I may enjoy the interaction, I might see their view but still disagree...I might change my mind. We tend to relate to other s when we are going through similar situations or have a keen interest in that particular subject right . I do think personality style s also contribute to how different people perceive things.

@@yvonne3218 I could only add to your comment that communication viewed in written form, Vs seeing the whites of the eyes of the person we are talking with reduces the number of those willing to share. Personality traits may well alter perspective, though the list of variants which should be considered is huge(which is why we do not enquire as to personal traits when asking opinions... mostly) the potential possibility of judgemental views interfering (incorrectly) with a person's view is why the opinion given, should be just that. Gender, birthplace, education, status, class, role in the community and much more plays into the "judgement" of why folk hold the view they do. Unless we are simply listening... regardless of all the above variants.

The criticism of the BBC's coverage of the conflict is valid, Sky are just as bad. its very telling in the way in which they speak to Palestinian guests vs Israeli guests, in addition to the language they they decide to use, there has been noticeably much more effort to humanise Israeli victims over Palestinian ones (i.e. Israeli's are "killed" whereas Palestinian's just "died"). BBC hosts have been challenged numerous times regarding the deliberate language that they use when framing questions to guests that don't offer a pro-israeli narrative. In addition to this when Francesca Albanese was brought onto a BBC interview she was introduced as the "UN Special Rapporteur of the situation of human rights in Palestine", her correct title is "UN Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territory", the effort made to omit Occupied Palestinian Territory was very deliberate, why?. The BBC also had to apologise after saying twice on air that the first Pro-Palestine demos were in support of Hamas, all they said was it was "poorly phrased". The point regarding journalists being unable to access Gaza is valid, but what about the West Bank in that case, I've heard barely a peep from there? The most damning thing now regarding these media outlets is when you realise what they aren't reporting on. Palestinian Journalists do exist on the ground in Gaza still, even though over 70 of them have been killed over the past 2 months along side members of their families. They're risking their lives to get the stories of their people out of a death zone and its through their efforts that I can see just how poorly the UK media is doing. They rightfully deserve criticism.
