Are you a mom with lots of littles trying to homeschool your kids? Do you look at seasoned homeschooling moms incredulously, wondering how they possibly do it? You love the idea of offering your kids a rich education through homeschooling, but with so many young ones underfoot, it just seems so hard! In this video, I want to offer encouragement for homeschool moms of littles.

I'm sitting here crying. For month's I've felt so alone as a homeschool mom to 6. My youngest is 2 and he is into EVERYTHING. No matter how hard I try he's climbing, dumping, & coloring everywhere. Then my 6 year old whines a LOT and when I try to step away to catch my breath so I don't lose it she follows me. 😢 I love all of my kids. They are such a beautiful blessing, but somedays I don't enjoy life right now because I'm drowning in all the things that need to get done in a day. Thank you for this video. ❤

You are so welcome! I hear your heart...and I have been there at times myself! I know how overwhelming it can be when you feel like you are drowning. You're children are an incredible gift (I know you already know this!) and your investment in your home and family is invaluable...even if those little ones don't appreciate it yet! Take breaks when you need to, give yourself grace, and keep on keeping on in the incredible work of service you are giving to your family. When you are eighty someday, you will never regret that you spent this time pouring into others.

Thank you for this encouragement! It came at just the right time for me! My four kiddos are 7 (1st grade), 5 (kindergarten), 2.5 (and SO active!) and one month old. We are in a season of chaos! One thing I did that has helped immensely was prepared packets of “light schoolwork” for my two oldest for this transition period with the new baby. Worksheets from Scholastic workbooks, Evan Moor, etc. We use mostly The Good and the Beautiful, which I knew was too hands on and time consuming for me during this period. The “packets” won’t teach them as much as fast, but this way we can maintain the daily school habit and not feel like we’re overwhelmed by it. I have children to feed, teach and nurture, a house to clean and three loads of laundry to fold today. So we need reasonable expectations.

You're welcome! I'm glad this was timely for you! What a great idea to try to keep some routine, but also keep it light. Also, kuddos to you keeping your priorities in place with kids, home, meals, etc.! I hope you have a smooth transition to life with a new family member. Congrats on your little blessing!

This has been really helpful for me. I’m struggling since I have 5 littles which includes a toddler and a very clingy 10 month old. I just added my second student to AO, but I’m convinced AO was not meant for large families, especially if your children aren’t advanced readers. I’m trying to figure out what to take and what to leave from AO and what I need to add in. We already use Teaching Textbooks but I need to find something for history and something to guide our science. Any recommendations are welcome!

I am so glad this helped you! Those early years with littles are so challenging, but your consistent work will start paying off as your kids grow and become more independent in their learning. Not sure if you saw it or not, but I did a video on how we make AO work for our large family. Maybe that will give you some ideas for how you can keep using it? I look at AO as a feast and only do my favorite books. I list in there the books that are my must reads.. We have used Veritas self-paced lessons for history for years and love them. It's an excellent program and the kids can do history independently. It's one area that has helped for me to outsource. I hope this gives you some ideas! Here is the link for the AO video I did. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJzYfpWGbbSce8U

Also the most awesomest thing is…we are teaching our children about God and his son Jesus! There’s nothing more important than this. 😊 slow down…take long breaks, recharge…it’s a crazy busy world out there.
