Hello! I was the viewer who asked the question, and I just wanted to follow up and say thank you! A lot of women talk about what they're doing for homeschool but don't say much at all about their husband's involvement or uninvolvement in teaching, picking curriculum, setting routines... your video was super affirming, I think consistency and routine are so helpful and it was encouraging to hear that it's been helpful for you. Again thank you!

Oh good, so glad you saw it and I'm happy it affirmed your feelings. It's so true that not many moms talk about their husband's involvement. Glad you enjoyed it! You're so welcome!

FINALLY someone is talking about this!! My husband is an OTR trucker and when he comes home the *entire routine of everything* gets chucked out the window. Errands we couldn't run without his presence, things needing to be done around the house, family time, laundry (I do his instead of whatever I would otherwise do)...all kinds of things that we prioritize over school when he's home. Not only that but sometimes it can be hard to get back on track after he leaves again. On the plus side, we moved to a state with more lenient laws so that helps.

I completely relate to all that you've said! I hope you can find some good ways to make it work for you. I do think it has gotten a little easier as our kids have gotten older. Good thing to be in a looser state, that will help!

Thank you! We are definitely in an abnormal situation with 7 kids and it is highly stressful. We've been in this situation for 4 years now. I can't believe it. We've been in what feel like survival mode the entire time and I am exhausted. Thank you for the new ideas! :)

Thanks so much for this. My husband is a commercial pilot and this the main reason we chose to homeschool. He has a "schedule" that is constantly changing and random. It's such a gift for us to be able to homeschool!! I always find your videos so unique in that they are extremely practical, to the point, and incredibly helpful and encouraging. You are an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and advice with us. You are such a blessing and I am so glad I stumbled upon your channel. I'm recommending it to everyone!!

My Husband is a Pastor. We will be homeschooling. I have decided we will take Mondays off and we will take the entire month of December off. There is so much at our church during the holidays. I am in a state where homeschooling is very flexible.

That sounds like a great plan! I agree completely...we have to be flexible as homeschoolers!

❤Thank you for your video. I really want to have a lot of kids ^^ Here in Korea new alternative Christian schools are appealing many areas. But still homeschooler is minority group. And my all family including my hudsband againt homeschooling. Still my hudsband thinks public school will provide good education and worried that learning from home hinders the development of our kid's social skills. So after school, we homeschooling. But it is hard. Because we have not enough time to talk and read together. I will learn from your experience sharing. Thank you❤

My husband is a police officer and constantly changing shifts, so I can relate! I’m so thankful that we homeschool so that we can be flexible with our schedule. I have definitely found that keeping a consistent schedule for the kids is important, and it’s just an extra bonus if dad is there to be a part of it 🙂

Agreed! When I'm tempted to complain, I try to remind myself of the alternative...the kids being in school and not seeing him at all. That always helps me put things back in perspective.

My husband works a 9-5 and it has it's own challenges. Your point about routines hit home though. We've had a different routine while my husband is at work than when he is home and it's killing us. This video really helped me see that it's a pain point for us and my husband is also noticing it

Great ideas! We also decided to homeschool because of my husband having shift work. He actually got a a regular schedule before we started. But he works a lot of hours so I've had to adjust my days based on that sometimes. Adjusting and learning to be flexible has been a huge benefit for me.

I'm sorry you feel so alone. It can be very hard when your kids are all young. It definitely gets easier as your kids get older. I hope you can find some help or good solutions for your situation!
