@@_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI honestly have put off getting into it for some time because of life and other creative projects I’ve been focusing on. However, I was mucking around on Serum early tonight whilst trying to make a white noise sweep for a Jungle track I was working on. I was experimenting with different distortion types to throw on the white noise and came across some really intense distortion which sounded positively disgusting (in the best way possible). I started tweaking with the filter cutoff and resonance knobs, threw on some delay and actually started getting some sounds that were very close to the ballpark of what Ashley achieves in these videos. Maybe I’ll make a video sometime of how to make harsh noise using purely VSTs and software stuff.

I did the same thing with the same mixer. Totally on my own and with a contact mic. I stopped because I thought I would ruin it. As long as I've been in noise (1993) no one ever helped me except RRR Ron Lassard told me how to make a contact mic.Everthing from circuit bending to distortion pedals all on my own. That's why it's good to see that your doing a good thing.

Cool tutorial. I don't have a mixer (I use pedals with two outputs for a much clunkier feedback setup) but it's high on the list of gear I want (I'd love to play guitar into a feedback loop with one). Why the bright green background, though? It's kinda eye-searing. Hyped to see more noise corner!

The Behringer vintage delay (the gray one) has worked well for me since it's analog and you can get it to feedback on it's own pretty easily.
@stuartchapman51713 жыл бұрын
Behringer make an accurate clone if the Boss Heavy metal and the Ultrametal among many others. They do a copy of the Shenai super fuzz. It's spot on but with extra eq and three fuzz levels and about $3875 cheaper!. Lots of folk say they're plastic and no good for stomping on. For noise makers you will break your hand before the pedal. Ideal. Look up What's The Deal With Behringer for a great run down of the best clones.
@stuartchapman51713 жыл бұрын
Not likely. I blew a digital delay once using a freakish high aux send once years ago. The pedal was faulty to start with, the type of signal was one you shouldn't really use. Apart from that I've built up a collection of 30+ fx units and pedals, abused them for years doing this. Never had an issue. Not all pedals will be usable in all set ups. If you buy one that doesn't 'Noise' hang on to for a future setup, which you will/should be doing. Experimentation will allow you to find your/new sounds. Most of all have fun.

I really want to try this with my current Behring mixer (mines is the Q2102 USB) which is a similar model. But I'm slightly afraid of perhaps breaking it or perhaps wearing down the parts, especially since my current mixer I use for recording other instruments. What should I actively avoid doing to damage it? Or is this a process of it gradually deteriorating over time??? Thanks. Loved this video.
@yelhsasierehw4 жыл бұрын
I think over time it might be worn down but definitely avoid feedback loops and keep an eye on the volume. Alternatively you could look for a used beat up mixer. I bought mine used.
@fabianunt4 жыл бұрын
The feedback loops will always drive the channels at the maximum level they can run at. So there will always be the wearing down of parts and possibly frying them. Not much you can do. Best way would be to find a cheap second hand mixer solely for noise.

@@yelhsasierehw I use LMMS and all I have is a laptop so what settings should I play with to get the sounds?
@fabianunt4 жыл бұрын
The point of feedback loops is as the name suggest to run the audio in a loop to amplify and distort itself. This can be done without a mixer but a mixer is the easiest and beginner friendly way. Another option would be to place a mic in front of a speaker and then creating a feedback loop this way. This type of feedback loop creates the high pitched feedback you sometimes get from vocal mics on concerts. Its not limited for high pitched feedback though and can be manipulated nicely in many ways.

Hey man, quick question: are there alternatives to the Behringer cable for running the mixer to a computer? it’s sold out everywhere for the foreseeable future. Can I just used a 1 prong 1/4 to USB or does it need to be the double. Any help is appreciated thanks!
@fabianunt4 жыл бұрын
Yes the standard way would be to use an audio interface. They are basically external usb sound cards for musicians. You hook your noise setup to the audio interface via 1/4 or xlr cables and then via usb into your computer. you can go for a cheap two channel one and it will cost below 50 bucks.
