The problem with bespoke is that body changes and it doesn’t fit. My body is infamous for changes 1 or 2 size within a few years, and varies with seasons.

in the uk, you can purchase a pair of bespoke lasts from springline, that are yours to keep. Either going to Northampton to be measured or sending measurements that you have taken following their instructions

Regarding getting bespoke shoes in the USA, Alexandru Maftei in Austria will explain to you how to measure your feet (well, you need a friend to do the measuring on you) and send you test shoes. His prices are very fair (bespoke shoes for around 1100 USD). He has an assistant answering e-mails who speaks English, so while you may wait a few days to get a response to an e-mail (because only the one assistant speaks English), you will get a reply. For more complicated adjustments I upload a private video to youtube and send him the link.

i wonder if there's any reason kirby isn't wearing a pocket square in his jacket? did he simply forget, or is it just a bit of casual sprezzatura going on? Or better yet, has he become so advanced in his sartorial journey that the pocket square is but a trivial afterthought at this stage?

You don't have to have one all the time. In-fact, I think there's a lot of value in not wearing a pocket square; the primary argument being that without one it's easier to be more understated and thus less directly attention-grabbing, which imo is the essence of being elegant. @@krollic cheers for the reply. So it's pretty much what i thought, you get to a point in your style game where you feel it's not necessary. Still, if you want to be understated, just go with a plain white pocket square and it'll do the job.

My philosophy these days with style is that it's usually more advantageous to stick to the core items in your wardrobe i.e shirt, jacket, pants and shoes and hone in on the key details such as fit/styling, and when you want to introduce some nuance and complexity, there's plenty of room to work with in regards to colour, pattern and my favourite; texture, i.e material and weave. There's a lot of value in dressing in such a way where people look at you and think "hm.. that dude looks very sharp" but they can't necessarily place a finger on as to why... I think this illustrates how elegance is inextricably tied to understatement; the more cosmetic accessories you wear, the closer you become to wearing a costume. Of course, it's not like a single pocket square is going to turn you into a clown but we've all seen the guys starting off with menswear and they simply go overboard. I think you're completely right in regards to not needing much more than a simple solid white cotton or linen pocket square when the time calls for it. My second and third place pocket squares would go to the solid light blue and light brown ones, respectively. Unsurprising though, since those three colours will be your most loyal friends throughout your wardrobe, along with grey. cheers
