thanks for the information. I brought a radio clock from abroad and everytime it sets up itself automatically it sets its time wrong. Is there an option to make the clock receive the right clock information from the right tower?

What are the codes that are transmitted? How far does the signal reach? What happens when the clock is out of reach? Are there other time transmitting stations around the world, where are they and do they use the same system?

The codes are binary codes which the circuitry in your watch or clock can interpret. There are 4 main transmitters in the world depending on where you live, all with a range of about 1250 miles. They are located in Colorado USA, UK, Japan and Germany. The transmission frequency is between 50 - 60 Mhz. For instance the transmitter in Colorado covers all of continental America although the signal strength in Alaska is said to be so weak as to be unreliable. If no signal is available or detectable, a radio controlled clock functions as a regular quartz clock until the signal is once again received.

Still don't understand the purpose of these radio controlled wall clocks. If there is a problem with a signal, your clock might show wrong time. With analog watch you dont have that problem, you set the time and it runs perfectly untill battery runs out.
