I got diagnosed with addison's disease and hypothyroidism in 2004 when I was a senior in high school, I also got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 25. I take hydrocortisone, fludrocortisone, levothyroxine, levemir and novolog insulins. It is definitely hard especially when we get sick, it's all down hill for me from there, but I continue to take my medicine like I'm supposed to and see my wonderful endocrinologist every 3 months just to make sure I'm still on the right track and doing ok. I am a true believer in Jesus Christ and know without his guidance I wouldn't be here today. Thank you for sharing your story.

i am so freaking over having this! i miss my days of living life to the fullest to waking up and feeling great to an hour later being so sick, it is a minute to minute disease.

I've had Addisons for 45 years, fourteen autoimmune diseases, two lung conditions and six heart conditions. Now, vascular dementia. I get sepsis pretty regular. I'm here to say you can survive. I've been in hundreds of addisonions crisis. Life can be hard. But it's life. Don't let your condition keep you from enjoying life. Trust God. He's there for all of us.

Crystal, I'm sorry for the disease but glad to hear you might be getting a real diagnosis. For a lot of us, that is the hardest part. Once the diagnosis is there, it will be easier getting treatment or being taken seriously and getting the help you need. There are groups of people with Addison's on FB, and honestly I've learned more from them than anywhere else because they're living with it every day and can give some great advice on what to do- and not to do. =) Keep hope and hang on to peace.

Thank you for sharing. I have Addison's disease and I don't find medical doctors of any help. I have a Naturapath who understands my condition. And we do have to decide when to take extra HC. And I often feel guilty for doing so because we want to try to get by on as little as we can and still live. It is an on going daily battle. I don't think I will ever feel 'normal' again. I now have a severe case of Rhumatory Arthritis. And I can hardly walk at times. The pain is too much. And the only thing that helps the pain is more HC. I am not real good at this.

Kim, again it's me. I find your videos so calming and understanding. ❤️ always a go to when I'm having a rough day. Thanks so much... right now I'm healing from Mono, and a gruelling hospital stay. I am still in the diagnosis stages of Addison's. There's so many answers for my symptoms, but it also feels so overwhelming.... so many meds, Dr visits, specialist visits, diagnostic imaging, emergency protocol... ugh.

I’ve had this disease for 30 years it can be hard to get out of bed and stuff but it has never stopped me having a normal life just keep up with you tablets and go with it. I have never let this run my life the only difference is I have to take tablets. i can out perform most people. Don’t let this be the focus of ur life take ur meds and get on with your life. I’m not being harsh ur meds replace what ur body can’t do so u lose nothing. U can live well with this don’t get down about it u control it with very good meds it doesn’t control u.

I can't agree more with Alan Riley's comment. Addisons/AI isn't limiting in itself at all. I was diagnosed 43 years ago and was REQUIRED by my dad to live a normal life. So far, so good. Even at 54 I can still out work/run/lift/drink most 25 year olds. The more I do, the better I feel. Hangovers and the flu really suck though.

Hi there! It's great to hear from people with Addison's who are functioning well and living life to the fullest. As I mentioned, those with AI who don't have other health conditions seem to be able to take the proper med dose and live "normal," which is wonderful. When it's one more thing on top of other things, that's when it gets limiting. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Chiari Malformation, which complicates things. No drinking for me - tapering off steroids after being sick is enough of a hangover! =) I hope you continue to live well and strong.

Praise the Lord, he is the only hope I have to help me get through this new diagnosis of addison's disease on top of everything else I have, I may ask you too many questions as I am new to this disease and haven't even seen the endocrinologist yet to get dialed into my meds, the hospital gave me my first medication a paper with my illness on it and discharged me. No warnings about don't do this, or call us about that. The only one concerned was a follow up person who called the day after I got home to make sure I would go see my general physician and make an appointment with the endocrinologist, she's the only person who seemed to be concerned about it but didn't explain why she was. My adrenals were putting out a .6 of cortisol so yeah I was in crisis mode. Went in for chest pain came out with addison's disease.

Oh my. That is an impressively low cortisol level. I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's a big diagnosis - I'm very glad they actually found it. It's such a rare thing that most doctors don't think to test for it. You DEFINITELY need to find an endocrinologist who is familiar with Addison's, and soon. They can help you get started with how this will affect your life and especially the important information about medication and if you get sick, etc. Please be sure to take the medicine they gave you, and I hope that you are able to stabilize very soon and you're one of the ones who, once they have the medication level right, is able to function just fine and feel well. each person is different and i as you have the same issue, i might feel great so then i do a bunch of stuff only to have drained everything my body had to only rest for 4 days in complete exhaustion and feeling like i have the flu. this disease sucks the life right out of MOST of us.

I'm so sorry things are getting worse over time for you. I would guess that's common, especially if you have other conditions like I think most of us do. Age certainly affects things. Wish there was an easy fix! =(

i do along with the destruction the cortef has done to my body. when i read people who say just take your meds and you can live a normal life well that is not the case for me and it makes mad that others say it since we are all different living in different bodies.

Just went through two total hip replacements due to my long-term steroid use because of Addison's you guys need to watch out for avascular necrosis
