My ESM2000 fencer went down. Checked that resistor and, bingo!, it was open! Replaced that resistor and it is now working! Thank you.

Is that trafo still available. I have a esm600+ unit with only 2000volts on the output of the transformer.

35uf cap and if its charges to 325v which would be full-bridge rectified and filtered mains here in the UK then there is 1.8 joules of stored energy in the capacitor 👍

Likely because they want things to not last as long so you either have to keep getting them fixed or you buy a new one. Fi-Shock is just a shell of it's former self.

Excellent dear, but my electric fence energizer is not working. Only the code (E2) appears on the screen. Do you have a solution to this problem?

Thanks for showing off the guts! I see in another comment they use an SCR to switch the high voltage, but I'm curious as to how they do the timing in these older units. Did they use purpose built ics or some sort of basic microcontroller?

I'm not sure how they did it on this particular unit. This video is from a few years ago. Different brands do it different ways. Usually it's a microcontroller or something custom built and programmed

What if you touch red and yellow connection

You would probably feel a little something. The shock comes from ground side and either red or yellow. So if you touch just red or yellow individually or together at the same time, you'll feel something just not the full shock. Red and yellow are almost the same electrically inside, there's just a big resistor between the two to lower the power down from red to yellow for the half power on the yellow

A question to add on.. when you have finished connecting to a fence wire. In a scenario where a fence has no continuity. Will it still work or how will you know

This video is from a unit I repaired months ago for a customer. I don't recall a 100% which size it took. It's likely a 25-55 amp 800-1200v SCR. That would be my guess.
