Absolutely, whether a RunCam, GoPro, that’s the stuff I can show off to other people. I just received my HD Zero goggles last week and only have analog quads. But even the analog video is phenomenal. I can’t wait to get an HD Zero VTX bundle into my 5”.

HDZero is the dog roaming about the house, DJI is the cat that has the mouse (walksnail) trapped in the corner batting it down every time it shows signs of life. Although the crafty mouse is figuring out ways that it can escape, like the module, 1S VTX, etc, and like you say, the cat will eventually get bored and go outside and not return for a few years, lol. I put DJI (V2) and HDZero as a dead tie, each serves it's purpose. I have an 03 AU and HDZ goggles on the way though. I haven't tried WS, it's seems pointless if I already have DJI and HDZero, which combined cover the gamut from whoop to 7" for me.

I think it’s nice to have a selection between digital systems but I have the DJI and still see no reason to jump onto every new system that comes out. I also still enjoy flying analog, reminds me of playing ATARI in the 80’s 😂

For me, DJI 03 system is number 1 overall. Amazing live quality, 4k120 DVR, on board stabilization, 10 bit color, lightweight if you opt to use DVR instead of a gopro, and extremely user friendly. However, I don't really do any racing, and I feel like the latency could be a problem for pilots that primarily focus their time on racing. For freestyle, it has been perfect.

@@QSpeedRacer I've had really good results in low light. Probably somewhere between a Nebula and a Polar. As far as like normally lit daytime videos, I have no issues there either.

For me it's HD Zero, Walksnail, and DJI last. For me its about the company and how it treats its customers after the sale. Latency is also important to me as is penetration.

This discussion makes sense for ppl who only fly quads. I realize that is most of JB's audience, but Wezley Vartys range tests made me choose the HD Zero goggles and Walksnail VRx. I may hand on to my DJI mostly so I can do audience with my friends

Wel I will say, I ordered the HDZero and kit with the freestyle vtx. One thing I can say for certain is I’m excited to check it out and actually wear some smaller fpv goggles compared to my DJI V2 big ol goggs! Love the way the HDZ goggs look!

If DJI made a VRX module and a whoop sized 1s vtx they would reign over all. Hdzero would still have it's place, but Walksnail would go belly up quickly after that.

Don’t like DJI as a company and am very suspicious of having to use their apps etc. Don’t want to invest with them. Moved from analogue to SharkByte/HDZero a year ago - much better than analogue, affordable upgrade route with the VRx and then a pair of Scout HDs (surprisingly good). Disappointed in the 1W Freestyle Vtx (suspect I may have a dodgy unit). Just received my HDZero goggles and reserve final judgement until I have diopter inserts but there’s much to commend. Picked up nearly the last of the Walksnail VRx deals - only had 1 flight thru my Cobra Xs and dodgy OSD but am really looking forward to fixing that and viewing through my HDZero goggles. I thought the 1080p experience was great, a bit dark but very clear in the DVR. Loved having no speckle and terrific picture quality even with very low Mbits. I suspect that I may be investing more in Walksnail going forward than HDZero (I am not a racer or FS maniac) as clarity of picture matters most. If you’ve invested in DJI, then you are probably best to stick with it. If you can afford the HDZero goggles, then go for those as they are the mos future proof, and you can then stick with HDZero if you’re already well equipped, but if you’re not sure or aren’t a latency fanatic, Walksnail looks a damn good option with the VRx add on.

Yeah they tried to sneaky force upgrade my Vista to new firmware it pops up automatically trying to get you to upgrade. I didn't see it saying you can't down grade. Like people have said. And then my v2 goggles wouldn't work I don't think.

HDZero is unquestionably committed to open source and the community. WalkSnail doesn't give me the same feeling. Their community responsiveness could/will evaporate to protect their marketshare or when the money doesn't make sense. WS was forced to implement BF OSD and other goodies as a means to compete with DJI.

While the HDZero goggles are really attractive, they are way too expensive even with everything they have going for them. The thing is that they cost 500 (600 after the initial discount goes away) and that’s without any VAT and duties applied. Adding that they are currently the most expensive goggle you can get and don’t even come with antennae and the analogue adapter is sold separately so they are unusable out of the box. I’d insta-buy them for the listed price if it were fees included (even without the antennae), but dropping over 1k for a goggle is just not something I (and I believe a lot of people) are willing and or able to do.

Yeah, I initially thought that they were worth it for $600 but as you said, they come with nothing - I didn't realize they don't even include antennae! Would also be nice if they came with a decent hard case and not some gimmicky bag - I wish manufacturers would stop including cheap bags and/or unnecessary stickers anyway >_>

for me theres no other choice than hdzero. I spent a lot of time thinking about it and I'm about to order them. I'm still using 70$ box goggles from eachine, so its gonna be a huge step up for me and i dont want to buy another pair of goggles when i want to try digital in the future

i ordered the hdzero goggles because it is a top notch goggles, even if you dont take hdz receiver into account. But it has it. So it allows me to fly my whoops inside with hdzero and my bigger quads outside with ws. Sorry dji...

I think that Mr. Steele is very much limited by the huge number of marketing contracts, which does not allow him to join the real technological progress. I think this is the real reason why he is still flying on an analog. TBS seems to be dying, but Mr. Steele can't give up on them, bound by obligations.

lol met my dad at 32 and not even a yugo. so i get it, but he sure liked my boats .. and he reacted like you did with hd zero with latency . he was more excited than me. lol rip dad.. trying to justify another set of goggles , i just got 04x but hd zero covers all my analog stuff , cost a fortune to convert them all over to either system. and that's a lot of new surface and plane builds . but hd would be nice at 200 mph speed runs with my limitless, or crawlers and got to have head tracking so if any hdzero. its what you do with fpv that will make that decision. a flip over with my rc boat at 100 would be costly with digital . analog not so much something usually survives .

@@MysteryD exactly the case. Low res, but the latency is fixed, and you get 90fps. HDZero is definitely not for all - but I think, as will most open source projects, in a little bit of time there are going to be features that no one else can match. The open-ness of it is awesome. Easy to avoid things we dont like, like RID etc, and easy to bake in things we do like. Maybe Carl creates an external module to have a variable latency HD mode using a TCP base, and then DJI, and Walksnail, can jump in a lake - their one trick will simply be incorporated into the awesome HDZero goggles (and maybe a new VTX that speaks the same protocol)

With the VRX that just came out, I can't see Walksnail being on the bottom of the love triangle. I have an old Eachine box goggle with a 1080p screen with a relatively high refresh rate (I believe 75-80hz?) That I got for 80 bucks. With the range thing, Walksnail trumps DJI. Unless you are racing, I don't see a world where Walksnail isn't on top. Walksnail is the dominatrix. DJI is the wealthy masochist. HDZero is the poor secretary, who has a part time job as a personal trainer, that has to listen to all the kinky S&M coming from their boss's office.
