Now I finally understand why you much rather have knights instead of men at arms, I always assumed it was a 1 to 1 ratio of damage and thoughness, really makes me reconsider the value of specific men at arms. Maybe a knight strategy 3.0

Just wanted to say, I have been really enjoying the shorts that are popping up on my feed lately. Would you mind sharing your thoughts on tradition combos? And maybe some tactics on obtaining them. Thank you,

Hi! I've been playing around a specific Martial focused culture and gameplay. Quite effective (3000 troops, disembarking in Acres, winning in the early battle phase against 40k defenders in a holy war), so i'll leave some tips for you, if interested. For this gameplay, I played Norse and made the Kingdom of Mann, spending the 2500 renown in the pillaging tree. Converted to catholicism (yes, losing a bit of knight effectiveness, but in the end, negligible). I focused early to hybridise my Norse culture with the Anglo-Saxon, to get the tradition Hirds (which give +1 knight and is overall better than Coastal Warriors, since I created 3 stacks of Varangian Veteran beforehand, I never lose them, and Huskarls are pretty good too). Performative Honor is also excellent, makes some of your daughters better knights with the Shieldmaiden trait (better duelist too!). So my hybrid culture looks like this: Anglo-Nordic (Manx), Bellicose, West Germanic Heritage, Anglic Language. Performative Honor Hirds Northern Stories (better tutors, oh yess) Yes, I don't keep anything else, since I plan to get more and don't want to pay extra prestige to change them. The first tradition I rush is Only the Strong. It makes your knights so strong, it's a no-brainer. Then Martial Admiration (here, you could swap it for Chanson de Geste for that sweet minmax, but I tend to rp and you won't NEED to minmax) or Practiced Pirates if the cooldown (kingdom of mann event) is up. 3 stacks of Varangian veterans, 1 siege and the rest Huskarls. A bunch of supercharged knights and the game wasn't able to throw me any challenges (military related ofc). Have fun!

What are good men at arms combo's? Or is it better to just have one type and focus on upgrading them?

Depends on if you have elephants, focus on them, otherwise I focus on counters of those around me and focus on Knights. I know some people like to stack MaA of a specific type, you can get some ridiculous MaA. I think both strategies are valid.

Out of curiosity, how is damage dealt? If say a knight with 48 prowess is up against 100 levies, and 100 light footmen, how does the game decide what gets attacked?
@Krovikan2 жыл бұрын
That is a great questions, and unfortunately I only have an assumption - My assumption is that the 144 toughness damage is spread between the toughness equally, I'm not sure if it's split based on quantity or total toughness, I suspect quantity. So it your example it'd be 50/50, so you should lose 7.2 levies and 4.5 light footmen, but I could also see this being 39/61. I'm going to pose the question on discord see what everyone things
