I think that the reason it kept crashing was because when you lost the game suddenly had to deal with the complete destruction of an army with 70+ knights, meaning the game HAD to do something with each character and it was just too much all at once. EDIT: People are implying he was just alt-f4ing. At several points, you can straight up see the crash report pop-up. CK3 just isn't a very stable game lmao

I’ce been saying this for ages: Knights and siege MAA only. So you can siege down fort lvl 10 in like 2 months, and in the slim chance you need to fight just use knights and allies. Mercenaries become more of an option later in the game when you can probably make enough money

That's way higher than I had assumed. Also, apparently modern laws on cousin marriages stem from roman civil law, starting from Theodosius with a more than 4 degree seperation requirement, increasing to 7 in the 11th-12th century. Apparently it's just a societal taboo for a majority of countries, with no law banning it. Only parts of the Balkans (Romania, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and maybe Kosovo), most states in the US, China, Taiwan, both Koreas and the Phillipines banning it. That is... surprisingly few countries that ban it.

Also, I guess the stuff I've heard growing up seems to match the data, Muslims, South Asians, and certain African groups have the highest percentages of close cousin marriages. For the west, at least, the change towards being against cousin marriages seems to have really started developing starting from the 18th century and really solidified in the past half century. Apparently this change was one of the contributing factors to the breakdown of large family units and into the modern western understanding of the nuclear family. While in mainland East Asian cultures, there was already major taboo of marrying someone with the same surname (even if there's literal no real blood connection. For example, we Chinese do only have about 100 surnames altogether), so it seems at some point this evolved into a blanket ban for anything remotely resembling incest.

So, to reach max K.E. in vanilla; start as a (custom) Norse in India (so you can raid early and build up a treasury, prestige). As for the realm, focus keeping provinces that either have universities (for stewardship), and jungle terrains, preferably province capitals. Double build everywhere Elephantries and MA. After forming India, I’d go Tengri for the bonuses, but Norse is ok too. Don’t get attached to Holy sites, double elephantries and MIlitary Academies are better. As for culture, focus on KE tenets. There is also (possible a bloodline, can’t recall) which lets your knights gain prowess in battles. Must have. Getting better knights with eugenetics within the family is also kinda nessesariy. Hand out land only to family from the start.

It is day 163 since I asked you to do the challenge with Croatia in VIC 3 but in one of the videos, a good person named Andraip (Thanks for all the help) said it has a few flaws so it's time to correct them. So when you start playing as Croatia you have 15 years to get your independence, after that you cannot ally, get in a defensive pact, and you cannot be under any kind of protection and you must rival these powers as soon as possible: Austria, Russia, Serbia, Montenegro, Ottomans, and all nations from the Italian boot. You also must embargo all those nations and cannot enter their custom union nor can they enter yours. You cannot be in an alliance with any of the top 10 nations, including a defensive pact custom union, or protectorate, but you can trade with them. AI must be put on the default settings in case it isn't. If you ally let's say Portugal, and later on they get into the top 10, you must break the alliance. You also must stay monarchy all the time. Form the Danubian state with Croatia following these rules. (FYI incase I didn't make it more specific, you cannot join anybody's custom union you must always at all times have your own market)
