Way back when i dm’d Jomboy asking for help on how to grow my own podcast and he actually responded, I was 13 years old and was in shock, the podcast never panned out but these guys are awesome and really care about putting out good content with a lot of effort and work behind all of their takes and it shows in how they became what they became. Incredible stuff and so happy for the company man, genuinely grew up with these guys and still such a huge fan. Would love to work one day with them!!

I knew a deaf woman who read lips so well that her parents didn't even know she had a hearing problem until she was like 2 and a half years old. She spoke clearly and without the deaf accent. Funny story: since she never actually heard any of the words coming out of her mouth, she said there were a few words where she never knew if she was saying them correctly. They never felt right coming out of her mouth. One was Hippopotamus.

Makes sense, I've been able to do the same thing since I was young and also self taught/learned speed reading in the same way... it's about picking out easy parts and using context to build around that and once you have it you can match it to their lips. I ended up going to film school and did a lot of media and music stuff so I think it's built into certain people who are good with wording and reading body language.

I can kind of do the lip reading too. I realized that it’s because I’ve always looked at people’s mouths instead of looking at their eyes. In real life, in movies, tv, whatever. I have absolutely no idea why I do this. 🙂

No, it's just that sometimes when you have a skill you think isn't very special and realize later it is you are like "oh I thought everyone could do ___" lol. I've read lips and was able to mimic dialects from a young age and never understood why the adults around me would ask me to do it all the time until I realized not everyone could... Seemed mundane when I was young lol

it's a talent for sure. but I think more so if you can slow down the video, and you know the context then reading lips makes it a lot easier.
