That’s what I’m hoping for. I held out from buying this game cuz from the looks of it, the world seems a bit shallow and limited. And the gameplay doesn’t look all that polished. But I do like obsidian and I know they can do good work when they have a decent budget, and now since they partnered up with Microsoft I have faith in there future games.

I never pay much attention to play time estimations either because whatever it is you can sometimes double it or more for me. I loot and inspect every inch of a map I'm given every play through. Something listed at 6-8 hours could be 15 or even 20 for me.

I'll wait for a complete edition with all of the DLCs. I played through half of the base game and for some reason, the world just didn't catch me, it just felt boring to explore. Giving a creation kit to the modding community would be the best move for this game imo. Look at what it did for Skyrim, 9 years since its release and the game is insanely replayable and expanded upon thanks to the modding community.

It doesn’t have enough lore or worldbuilding there’s nothing that sets it apart from its predecessors or inspirations. It’s trying to have a firefly esque setting meanwhile it’s characters and story is way more barebones. And for the people who say fo4 isn’t an rpg but otw get out of here Outerworlds is even worse there’s so no way to avoid the main story and do only side quests for 20 hours something fo4 will let you do

So there''s an "expansion pass" available that lists the second DLC as "Murder on Eridanos," with a 2021 release date. So lets hope they can add a bit more icing to this cake. From what you've said, the DLC does seem worth it, but cost wise for everyone else, I'd say get the pass, just because that little bit cheaper, and it'll be more of the good stuff anyway. My biggest disappointment with The Outer Worlds is that the setting is just aesthetic dressing. They didn't do much of anything at all that relates to space at all. No changes in gravity from world to world, no atmospheric complications (aside from that one time you leave the fence on Scilla for the tour sidequest), and far too few ships for a game about space.

But Fallout New Vegas is a fully complete experience, with a whole decade worth of patches, mods, and DLC available. Its not really a fair comparison. When was the last time you played a stock-release fallout? Or stock Skyrim with no mods or DLC? They are totally a less fun experience compared to what they eventually became. Give it 10 years and then compare the two, or compare them at equal levels based on points of development or release.

Revived an old save just to play this. It was enjoyable. It will add a fun extra 6-8 hours to a playthrough. Maybe 10 if you really take your time to discover everything and talk to everyone. No spoilers, but I will admit that the "twist" toward the end of the main Gorgon questline was a bit predictable. Also, the "new" enemies were just re-skins of those from the base game, marauders, mantisaurs, ect. One thing I do commend this DLC for is putting in the extra effort to include new dialogue for the companions, dialogue that actually pertains to the events of the new storyline, which is more than can be said for most Bethesda DLC's. Overall, it was a fun bit of extra content for a game that really needs more. As far as value, unless you're a huge fan of the game and REALLY need a bit more to keep your playthrough going, I'd probably wait until it went on sale. It's enjoyable, no question. Just not spectacular.

i actually quite like the outer worlds and enjoyed this dlc. i personally like the more comedic writing but i do hope the next dlc (murder on eridanos) has more complex writing, by the title it does sound like it may be. the main things i disliked about this dlc were that it’s quite obvious from the first time you see the mystery figure who they are, and that gorgon itself wasn’t an amazingly interesting place. while it is an asteroid, i had higher expectations for the in-game environment and hoped that it wouldn’t end up as monotonous as scylla (and get, it did). i did appreciate the need to travel within the halcyon system, however, and some new locations and places to see, even if they weren’t overly exciting at times.

Same. I love TOW, excited af for this DLC, but yeah the base game just doesn't have gr8 replayability (imo). Idk.. I'm going to do another playthrough for the first time in forever, so I'll just make a safe before completing the questline on Monarch. TOW is still a pretty decent game though, I just think it needed a bit more time in the vg development oven. :)

The Outer worlds was a weird one... You got your value out of writing and enough kinda different endings to test a handful of interesting different builds, but in the end it isn´t open world, but uses a hub-system which means that there is a pretty easily discernable end to it It still has way more soul than Fallout 4, 76 and maybe even Skyrim, and if the Devs decide to go for a true open world title next, they could be heading for gold. Creation Kit WOULD help a little, but in the end, Hub-Style games aren´t replayable, seen it once, youve seen it all, and every quest only has so many endings, which you may even Savescum in the first run just to look where it goes Worth the money as in you get entertainment out of it, if you have it, take a weekend or two to enjoy a nice world, an interesting take on capitalism and Story I just think it was way overhyped and by the end we got a game that felt like an actual RPG with many things we loved returning and some new aspects added A promising start, just don´t drop the ball

New Vegas + his DLC is memorable . one of the most played open rpg I've ever made. For me too much humor can destroy the atmosphere of a survival sci-fi rpg adventure. In edge water they are in the shit but they joke on everything like drunk idiots (so I cut them the power.......) You can put humor on the pioneer, on the unreliable ok but not in a dying colony like Terrarium2. NOW this DLC seems more like Sierra Madre dlc or so I hope. more dark, immersive,mysterious.

Most of the workers didn't work on NV aside from the co creators of the OG fallout who also worked on NV. Not only that this game didn't have as much of a development time nor did it have as much funds. But I do think it is a good RPG for our generation when fake rpg's like fallout 4 is considered rpgs and is coming out. But hopefully since Obsidian has microsoft funding now if they make a sequel or prequel they can right their wrongs, have longer dev time, and make it wayyyy better.

@Knight-Sgt. Reyes imo I did enjoy it a bit but in terms of fallout styled rpg the only thing related to fallout is the lore, factions, and special system along with the world of course. Other than that the karma system, choice and consequence, dialog options that matter, and a bit of other stuff. It isn't really that good of a RPG and I do not consider it a true RPG.

Is it a free dlc? From the way you describe it, it doesn't sound like it's worth spending money on. Now if it were a 12 hour dlc or an entire planet to explore instead of an asteroid it might be worth buying and replaying the game for. As it stands though, outer worlds is a fun game but after two or three times you've seen everything it has to offer and 5 hours of new content really doesn't warrant another playthrough.

Ranging from simple visual bugs to game breaking bugs like not being able to enter the fucking room before the final boss without crashing. I'm not going to get specific beyond that because I hate typing on a touch screen and it was a lot.

Bought my ps4 and the outer worlds was the first game I bought with it. I was hyped by all the comparisons to new Vegas and sold on the setting from the get. I’ll say when I first started playing, the environment and voice acting grabbed me. After a couple hours of gameplay, I realized the combat loop wasn’t gonna get more complex, the weapons mostly the same and the enemies mostly the same witha few pattern adjustments. Most of the time I just ran through combat just to get to the next area because the fights were so uninspiring and repetitive. I thought the realistic mode would change that but it only made combat more tedious and unappealing. What was supposed to be a surreal concept changing rpg turned into and boring weightless story with little to no real consequences other than head canon. Eventually I deleted my character and started again only to be left feeling unfulfilled. There is something here that could definitely lead to a great game franchise at its core, but the outer worlds left much to be desired gameplay, story, and setting wise....all around I give it a 6/10. I really wanna see more from these devs considering all of the money they have behind them.

The game was just meh for me before, and now a touch less meh. I'm still not a fan of the art style and the goofy humor. Something doesn't click with me, and I both played and watched a Lets-Play to get to this conclusion. I do like the moral choice in this dlc, and hope this is a sign of future dlc.

i found this dlc very lackluster. it adds a little to the game, but isnt worth the price imo. plus the load times are terrible.

how does this guy play through the game so quickly? You just skip through all and any form of dialogues and side quests or something?

Probably just efficient quest routing. This game really does encourage you to pick them up like five at a time (they cluster all their quest givers together usually) so he probably just gets them all and runs through a pre-determined path clearing them. Also yeah I'd imagine he's skipping a lot of the more forgettable side-quests that don't result in unique rewards.
