The majority of rehab for injuries is to strengthen the affected area through exercises. A lot of chronic RSI isn’t due to inflamed muscles, but rather due to degenerative tissue which has been compromised and causes pain and even lower strength. Through exercising, you can regain strength by having the muscles around the affected area do some more of the heavy lifting.

@rpmpowerКүн бұрын
Powerball was made for wrist and elbow tendonitis. It addresses symptoms quickly, painlessly and efficiently. Relief is immediate (within 60 seconds) as blood flows throughout the upper limbs, muscles loosen out, tendon strain reduces and overall tension diminishes. Blood brings the collagen healing nutrients to the inflamed tissues, helping reduce inflammation and rehabilitate quickly. And all you have to do to achieve all this is simply spin the ball at slow to moderate speeds for 5 minutes each day and it'll do the rest. Hope this helps, best wishes, Rory

Hi Jon, sorry to hear it. No specific exercise for you in this case, more, keeping the arm extended as you spin will suffice - keep the spin speed low and use your gyro to promote blood flow as opposed to strengthen for the first week or two (you'll encourage blood flow all along the limb, from finger tip to shoulder by simply spinning gently, bringing those collagen healing nutrients and oxygen to promote faster healing of the tissue). As the limb recovers, you'll gradually increase spin speed which in turn migrates the process from one of rehab to one of strengthening. Hope this helps, thanks, Rory

Due to a stroke I can’t hold by finger tips but in my palm, will I also get positive results?
@rpmpower2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dominic, many thanks for your message, I am sorry to hear you've suffered from a stroke, and I hope you're on the road to a solid recovery. Yes, ideally Powerball is held firmly with its top buried into the actual palm such that it's held securely all around with little 'wriggle' room as you spin. The key here is that you have a solid grasp of the ball as it spins for the faster the rotor rotates, the more inertial resistance it's creating and thus the harder it's working those 4 main forearm muscles that give mobility to the hand/wrist. In some cases, where a user is seeking to exercise the finger flexors, we recommend they extend the ball out from the palm and have it supported entirely by the fingertips...but that's not for you here Dominic, you're looking for a good solid grip (ball buried deep into the hand) allowing you to spin as quickly as you're able such as to tire those main forearm muscles and build back the strength and endurance that you'll likely have lost over the past few weeks/months following stroke. Build speed up slowly over the coming weeks and you'll be rewarded with a strong grip and strength in the entire arm from fingertip to shoulder. It's all good. With best wishes, Rory

Over the years, Powerball has been the subject of a number of independent university based studies into its affect on the upper limbs. In turn, each have concluded that use of the device yields measurable positive benefit in the development of grip strength and general inflammation reduction. These conclusions are further borne out in the thousands of independent reviews of the products on sites like Amazon where consumers are quick to point out their dissatisfaction if a product doesn't live up to expectations or produces less than favourable results. For us, 20 years worth of reviews like these are far more valid sound bytes for a product than any university study, notwithstanding that many Physios also recommend the spheres to their clients almost by default when presented with various RSI conditions. Conclusion; Powerball is one of the world's best rehabilitation devices for the upper limb. Hope this addresses your query, with my best wishes, Rory

Maybe I need to learn CORRECT TECHNIQUE FIRST...
@rpmpower2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sam. Powerball is totally non-impact and generates resistance which is directly proportional to the speed at which you're spinning. If your wrist is sore from spinning the ball it signifies an underlying condition that needs to be monitored. Because it's non impact it won't cause any issue and will, instead, offer soothing rehabilitation to the inflamed tissue (possible tendon inflammation running through the carpal tunnel) or, potential issues around the joint itself. You don't state your age or your past history (joint wear?) Spinning Powerball also helps the natural production of synovial fluid in the joint (to help everything 'slide and glide' better) so if there is no wear (arthritis / wear and tear etc) then gentle (read: slow) spinning of the ball for longer periods - as opposed to short, fast spins, are the order of the day for you...slow down the spin speed and spin for many 10-15 minutes on the hand in question...BUT...if there is extensive inflammation in the joint I'd suggest giving it a few days to recover (perhaps some anti-inflammatory tablets to boot) before spinning again. But the ball will NOT cause such injury Sam, on the contrary, using it enhances blood flow that brings those nutrients and oxygen to the inflamed tissue to help reduce pain and inflammation, but so long as you stay within your spin speed threshold and that's subjective and personal to each user, we can't give guidelines on exact spin speed any more than I could tell you what weight dumbbell to use down at the gym. Hope this helps, Rgds Rory

Greetings. Powerball is a world class rehab and strengthening device for all manner of RSI related issues in the upper limb, including finger based RSI conditions. Your ability to control the (non-impact) resistance generated by the ball through regulation of the spin speed is key. You simply spin at slow to moderate speeds for 5-10 minutes daily (ideally for 1-2 minutes of these spins you'll hold the ball away from the palm and supported by the finger tips (as opposed to being buried into the palm) - this will force the finger flexors to do moderately more work, albeit being mindful to spin slowly as you do so, given that there will be added pressure on those finger flexors while holding the ball extended out like that). Here is a recommended video that shows you exactly how to do this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGLKdWlqab91oqM Over a period of 7-10 days, you'll most likely note a significant reduction in the pain you're currently feeling combined with overall strengthening in the individual fingers (as well as an overall increase in grip endurance) which, in turn, will reduce and most likely prevent you from suffering this condition in the future as you play. In truth, we 're obviously falling down in our marketing; you should have known about Powerball when you started playing first, it's an essential piece of kit for gamers of all levels and had you been using one all along, it's most likely that you'd not have succumbed to and RSI condition in the first place. Hope this helps, best wishes, Rory

How long should you use it for daily ?
@rpmpower Жыл бұрын
Hello Ann We recommend long (10 - 15 minutes) spins at a slow, lazy pace if someone is recovering from an injury or is trying to rehab an upper limb RSI issue. Spinning Powerball takes the wrist through its full range of motion while adding resistance. That resistance is uniformly applied across the 4 main muscles in the forearm (which give mobility to the wrist) and stimulates lots of blood flow into those 4 muscles. This in turn brings those lovely collagen healing nutrients that we often speak about, plus lots of oxygen-rich blood, diffusing this into the muscle tissue which allows those forearm muscles to stretch out and take pressure off the connecting tendons, thus immediately bringing soothing relief and helping reduce inflammation in those tendons at a far faster rate than simply leaving the arm in a sling. So, the longer you spin (at a slow pace...slow is better than fast if you're carrying an injury), the more healing you'll do. But this is all subjective of course and only you can decide when enough is enough. But spins of 15 minutes (or even 5 minutes if you've not got 15 minutes) will help greatly. Hope this answers your question. Best wishes, Rory

Great for golf for sure - the act of spinning Powerball invokes the main muscles in the forearm in a way that no other forearm exercise product (in the world) can - the resistance it creates is directly in proportion to your ability to spin...the stronger you are the faster you spin, the more resistance it produces (self fulfilling prophecy if ever there was one :-) vice versa if you are carrying an injury. And those forearms (and thus....your grip) just get stronger and stronger. Hope this helps, thanks for your interest. Best wishes, Rory

I have TFCC tear and avulsion fracture on carpale V. Will this help me heal or will it make things worse?
@rpmpower5 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry for the delayed reply. If this is still of relevance for you, please be advised that gentle spinning of Powerball will be an effective form of rehabilitation for most forms of TFCC tearing/injuries. Of course, each case is unique and so the last work should be reserved for your doctor/physician. However, spinning Powerball at very slow speeds will generate very little (non-impact) resistance in the wrist joint and will dramatically reduce the healing time in any soft tissue injury by significantly enhancing blood flow directly into the area. This blood brings oxygen and collagen healing nutrients into damaged tissue which helps to quickly reduce inflammation and promote faster knitting of torn tissue / and strengthening). The key we find, is spinning slowly and for longer periods rather than fast, short bursts - when spinning slowly, the ball will generate resistance in the region of just 1-2lbs while taking the wrist through the full range of its motion while adding that resistance to the joint area and gently testing all supporting muscle tissue/ligaments and tendons. As your strength returns, simply up the spin speed to accommodate and that resistance will climb to 4-5lbs (right up as far as 35lbs at maximum spin speed, but that's for another day :-) You decide how fast you can go and that's the beauty of this product...suitable for a 70 year old woman recovering from a broken wrist just as it is for a 25 year old body builder looking to build strength in the forearms or grip. Hope this helps. Thanks and with my best wishes, Rory

@rpmpower11 ай бұрын
Hi Finn. Spinning Powerball promotes enhanced blood flow throughout the tissue of the upper limb and the production of synovial fluid in the joints. Both of these aid in the overall reduction of inflammation and promote greater range of motion in the joints (whether this be at the fingers or wrist). As Powerball is 100% non-impact and produces resistance that is directly in proportion to your ability to spin it (ie, the spin speed), you remain in total control of the resistance created and so, yes, we (and 1000's of physios) recommend Powerball for gentle rehabilitation of fingers, wrists and elbows (either joint or soft tissue based problems). As each case is unique however, if in doubt, always consult your physio before using any form of resistance based training device. Hope this helps, best wishes, Rory

What is the difference between using powerball nad simply spinning dumbell in your hand for example?
@rpmpower5 жыл бұрын
Interesting question; while it would be awkward, I guess you could partially simulate the resistance created by Powerball by taking a dumbbell and trying to rotate the wrist through the full range of motion that spinning Powerball requires. However, I say 'partially' simply because there would likely be 'soft spots' where the resistance would lower and 'hard spots' where the resistance would be stronger when using a dumbbell in this manner - something you'll never experience when subjecting your wrist to the precession resistance generated by a fast spinning Powerball. The action required to spin Powerball is a circumduction of the wrist where the wrist is taken through the full range of its motion while resistance is applied uniformly throughout and without up/down variation - that's why it's so effective. Plus, the fact that this resistance is 100% controlled by you (more resistance? spin faster...less? spin slower) gives you full control...something you could never achieve from a fixed weight dumbbell which will always be "10kg" or "5kg" or whatever...not so good if you're trying to recover from an injury etc. Hope this answer helps, kind regards, Rory

@rpmpower6 ай бұрын
Powerball rehabilitates and strengthens strained/inflamed tissue (muscles, ligaments, tendons) through the simple action of taking the wrist through its full range of motion while adding non-impact resistance. This resistance is in direct proportion to the speed at which you are spinning the ball and so you're in full control at all times, determining the force that is being created (from 2lbs to 60lbs). It works the main muscles and produces bloodflow throughout the tissue from fingertip to shoulder which significantly reduces recovery times. So, in a nutshell, yes, it will help 👍

Does anybody know the proper way to STOP the powerball? e.g.: stop it in a way that preserves the gyro and avoids excessive wear and tear?

Hi Eric, I recommend that you keep it firmly gripped at all times as the rotor is spinning and either let it slow down naturally (takes a few seconds) and then applying gentle finger pressure to the top once it's slowed sufficiently, or, if you're impatient, applying gentle finger pressure to the rotor to expedite the process...but being aware that a high speed rotor can cause friction burn to the skin if too much pressure is applied before it's slowed sufficiently. But the key is that you maintain a firm grip of the ball at all times while the rotor is still spinning. Thanks and with regards, Rory

Awesome product! But I hope I misunderstood what you said about dumbells training only 1 muscle at a time. This is false and the main reason dumbells are preferred over machines that ofter do train just 1 muscle (or small area of muscles) at a time. Dumbells are heavy an need to be balanced by your own strength which forces the muscles around the main muscle that you’re working out to get trained at the same time. Probably not as heavily as with the gyro ball. The product is a great product without marketing lies, let’s keep it honest and not misinform newcomers :)

More an editing mistake than a marketing "lie" in truth; the video editor was meant to have included a clip of a person doing a wrist curl movement with a dumbbell at that point in order to supplement my comment as opposed to dropping in a clip a person of a bicep curl. The point here being that many people will carry our wrist curling movements with a dumbbell and, in so doing, the movement will tend to isolate one main muscle group each time, this being either the flexor or the extensor group, depending on whether your hand is oriented upward or downward. And that's fine of course, but you ideally have to do several sets of each during your session...and then follow this with some sets of pronation/suppination exercises to fully attack all 4 muscles in the forearm. Compare this to Powerball, a device that efficiently hits all 4 main forearm muscle groups simultaneously through that circumduction of the wrist movement it utilises and pushes them hard in the process - or at least as hard as you can spin it, you're not regulated to a specific resistance loading, it'll produce resistance directly in proportion to the spin speed - which you alone are ultimately in control of. Hope this makes sense, thanks again for your comment. Rgds rory

@@rpmpower I just bought one and came back to watch the video as an explanation on how to use it. I agree with what you are saying here! The context makes my comment unfair, although I couldn't know what you meant before, I am sorry for the way I approached it with my comment. I'll start using it today, hopefully it will help with my RSI that naturally keep coming back since I've been working in IT. Thanks for your response

Greetings Amelia, thank you for your comment. Not really, so long as you're achieving that smooth rotation of the wrist with ball in hand it will 'work' - that circumduction of the wrist through 360 degrees works all four main forearm muscles and that's the key to Powerball - holding it with the counter or top plate buried into the palm is, technically, the correct way to maximise the forearm muscle efficiency while spinning but really, co-ordination dictates a lot so what ever works for you is good. Is this ball treated Parkinson in hand
@rpmpower Жыл бұрын
Greetings and thank you for your question. While Powerball doesn't offer a direct treatment for Parkinsons, it does provide significant benefit to the upper limbs for a person that is affected by the condition as it offers a means to strengthen the entire upper limb (from finger tip to shoulder) while also providing motor skill development in the process (there is a technique involved that must be learned and which provides co-ordination between the limb and neural network activity of the brain, helping to keep it stimulated during use). Overall, I can confirm that we have likely sold several thousand Powerballs to persons with the condition over the past 25 years and can report very positive benefit overall. Finally, and depending on how advanced the condition, I can recommend that you might consider our latest electric starting Powerball: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6elhJZ3jc2Cq8U This makes it so simple to use - just press a button and it starts, no winding up or pulling cords. I hope this answers your question, thanks so much. Best wishes, Rory

Can't we just imitate the same motion with just a tennis ball...?
@rpmpower3 жыл бұрын
You could, but there would be no resistance. The faster the rotor spins inside Powerball, the more inertial resistance it creates (set a weighted body in motion and it tends to want to stay in motion, facing the same direction...as you turn your wrist, you alter the direction of the spinning body and it 'fights' back against your efforts and builds muscle strength and endurance in the process...a tennis ball won't do that. Until you actually put a spinning Powerball into your hand it's difficult to understand what all the fuss is about I guess.

Extremely disappointed to buy this product. I paid 120 euro for the same product which is available from amazon for 40 pounds. I think this is a complete rip off. Using for a few days of regular use I didn't notice any change in my forearm muscles. Probably it is too early but any effective exercise should cause some degree of muscle discomfort in the beginning, but nothing happened after intense use. It is just an expensive toy but of no use for the muscles.

Hi @DR ZAHOORUL HAQ, thank you for your comment and for your Powerball purchase.. At 120 euro, it would seem that you bought yourself the Rolls Royce of Powerballs, the Metal Series Titan Pro. Indeed there are Powerballs available on Amazon for 40 pounds, but these would be your classic polycarbonate Powerball and not a heavy-weight metal Titan. Titans are one of a kind. We recommend Titan Powerballs to anyone looking to build serious strength in the arms and wrist. That's because this guy really make your muscles burn when you spin it, even after just 30 seconds or so. If you're not feeling the burn, you've either got VERY strong arms (good for you!) or you may not have the spinning technique quite right. In the case of the latter, I would recommend you check out some of our tutorial videos or contact us directly via our website and we will be happy to guide you through the process. Thank you!

@@haqzahoorul Thank you, I'm sorry, I forgot to include this link for you earlier; kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHbNeWWXfqaIjpI That's the video I need you to watch to ensure you are using the correct spin technique. The heavy rotor inside your new Titan will produce up to 60lbs of intertial resistance at full speed...and given that this is applied directly to your forearm muscles via the wrist, it's impossible for Titan not to build strength and endurance in the 4 main forearm muscles... But again, only if you're spinning it correctly (just like that £1000 bicycle is no good until you get the balance required to ride it). Please watch the video and come back to let us know how you get on, thanks so much and with best wishes, Rory

Tried it again several more times. Made it almost six seconds. My all time best. Wound it up tight as far as it goes (that is very difficult to do !). Held it in my fingertips and moved my wrist just like in the video. Cannot get it to work. Bought two of these for some unknown reason. 🤬🤬🤬

Slow down the wrist rotations until you get in sync with the ball...at the start it's all about slow, wide, lazy wrist rotations, like stirring a big wide pot with a long wooden spoon, or swirling ice cubes in a tall glass, it's a very subtle thing, like that hula hoop that will fall to the ground if you're just a fraction off in your timing. You'll instinctively know when you're in sync as you'll instantly feel the resistance from the ball as it tries to fight your wrist turns...it's all just a matter of timing, once you 'get it' you'll understand!
@beasleytoddАй бұрын
Well that didn’t help. I thought it might at first. Personal best of almost 15 seconds before it stopped spinning. It can only turn in the direction of the arrows so unless it’s on its side I don’t see how it can spin?? Is it directional, as in clockwise or counterclockwise. I really want this to work. Have tried for hours.
