Great video. One tip I would add for those rehabilitating after injury. Start up the power-ball with your fit hand and transfer to your injured hand for gentle exercise rotation. The effort required to get the power-ball started can be a little off-putting if you have any pain in your injured wrist. What I really like about this product is you can start to strengthen the wrist/arm without any load/weight bearing exercises.

I got a new Diablo Evo 2 days ago and since that time I always fail to start it. This video talks about Y axis rotation suggest me to check the Y axis rotation of my Diablo Evo. It has lot of friction to rotate on Y axis as I have to force the rotor with my 2 fingers to rotate it around the Y axis. Thus, the rotor cannot spin freely in 3 dimensions in order to react correctly to my wrist rotation. This might be the reason why I have hard time to start it. Could you suggest me a solution for this problem?
@rpmpower5 жыл бұрын
Greetings. Just to clarify, the rotor only spins in two dimensions (X & Y) and it SHOULD be difficult to turn the rotor on its Y axis while it's not spinning on its X axis otherwise the ball simply won't work if that FRICTION isn't present. The principle of a gyroscope will see the rotor literally levitate inside the shell once it has reached an X axis spin speed above 3000rpm at which time it will turn FREELY in the shell (on its Y axis) and react to even the slightest movement of your wrist as you alter the position of the ball. The difficult time you had in starting Powerball (as we discussed together during our phone call) was purely down to learning the correct co-ordination required for you to get in phase with the spinning rotor...and after you "got it" a couple of times you found it to be easy thereafter, just like riding a bicycle! But again to clarify, if there is no friction as you attempt to turn the rotor on its Y axis your Powerball will not work...it needs that Y axis friction in order for you to build rotor spin speed. Hope this helps, best wishes, Rory

Very interesting, I wish I saw this video before I bought the autostart version. Would it be possible to add a flat rubber o-ring around the gyro balls string groove so that it has more friction and you can drag/roll start it on a table or flat surface with a quick swipe, like a model car?
@rpmpower5 жыл бұрын
Greetings. Yes indeed, actually, we saw some enterprising individual promote and sell such a ring in the past albeit I never tried it. In truth, you really don't need that ring as, with a good flick of the finger, you can get the rotor up to operating speed without any real effort...rather, we recommend practicing your spin technique at REALLY slow spin speeds so that you can learn to "feel" the rotor (at these slow speeds) and easily bring it up to normal operating speeds each time from just a gentle finger flick (as opposed to needing to "wallop" the rotor with a hard flick each time...once you learn to 'feel' the rotor correctly, you'll be able to bring it up to full spin speeds from just the gentlest of finger flicks..that's the key I guess)

tip: the powerball has to be facing up or down; to the side, it will have variable friction through its "y axis" rotation, which makes syncing up almost impossible at low RPMs.

is the powerball suitable for, post stroke rehab.
@rpmpower4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rory, thanks for your question. It all depends on the user's mobility (ie, severity of the stroke) - as you can see by the videos it requires co-ordination of the limb to keep the rotor spinning; if you/they have that ability then certainly, we've sold many Powerballs for the specific purpose of rehab following stroke simply because the user can progress at entirely their own pace (it's not like lifting a fixed weight for example, the resistance is directly proportional to the spin speed)...but the key is having sufficient controlled mobility of the limb to keep that rotor spinning.. Many thanks, Rory

Hi Darren, yes, the postage is a bummer for these low cost items unfortunately. I recommend getting a piece of knitting wool or thin cord, 12" long and tying a little knot at the end (or perhaps melting the tip such that it becomes hard), that'll do the trick for you. Btw, none of them are too heavy to thumb start, you can flick start our solid zinc cored balls just as easily as the lighter 280Hz and 250Hz models, it's all technique based, keep trying 👍 Best wishes, Rory

I really dont get the "good flick" trick. It seems so easy, and I know I use brute force. As a righty, I grab the Powerball in my left hand, use my right thumb, start to get the momentum, and I don't even get it everey time... and then , when the Powerball is really started and running, then I switch hand... And start with the thumb of the hand which grab the Powerball is an impossible dream for me :p ! Worse, I even have to use the cord sometimes -_-...
@rpmpower5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ludovic, thanks for your comment. As you can see from the part where I hold the ball in one hand and give the rotor a "gentle" flick with the thumb of the same hand, it really isn't about brute force at all, more just an ability to "feel" the ball and moving your hand/wrist to ensure you get in phase with that spinning rotor. Don't feel bad about this though, I've been using Powerball for 20 years at this point and so getting in sync is inbuilt for me like breathing, it's simply a matter of practice, nothing more :-) Best wishes, Rory

Thanks for your message (sorry for the delayed reply!). It's like that hula hoop or riding a bicycle, hard to impart what needs to be done through a video, unfortunately...you've got to "feel" it internally as you spin...or that ball will keep dying as you've experienced. I suggest that you try an 'up/down' movement of the hand (such as you'd do when rapping on the door with your knuckles while keeping the arm perfectly still...that often helps someone who is struggling to get the co-ordination required with the conventional 'stirring of the wrist' motion. (Imagine a marble swirling around inside the bottom of the glass...that's the action you need to do, all the while keeping the arm still. Once you 'get it' once, you'll always 'get it'. He takes 12 minutes to say what he could say in one: "I know how to do it but it's hard to explain." Actually his description of sweeping the axis in a circular motion and picturing a laser beam tracing circles on the ceiling is very useful, it describes the necessary motion. But what isn't so evident is that he is "flicking" it with a tremendous amount of energy that most people (myself included) probably don't have the strength and coordination to do. And I'm pretty good at these things, but cant. I'd pay $20 to see him get mine going the same way. I have to use the string.

The powerball is great, but unfortunately your fastest delivery option takes about a week to arrive, and that is pretty bad. We live in the 21st Century where most packages can be delivered all over Europe in 24-48 hours. That’s why I’m canceling my order, sorry.
@powerballs40835 жыл бұрын
This is completely untrue. We have many delivery options with varying delivery times and costs. There is no small company in Europe or the world that can post everywhere within 24 - 48 hours. Just impossible as the cost involved in being able to do this would be so high that they couldn't afford it (And the services just don't exist). Not even Amazon can post to different countries within 24 - 48hrs. We can deliver next day in Ireland where we are based. We can't, however, post the next day to Greece for example from Ireland. It's absolutely impossible. Unless you expect us to charter jets and then helicopters to deliver every package. We offer the fastest most affordable (many times free) delivery services. People wonder why businesses and shops close down. It is these unrealistic expectations that every company has the ability to deliver like Amazon. We offer time and assistance to any customer and bend over backward to help our customers in any way we can. We also sell the best gyro products anywhere in the world. Kind Regards RPM Team
@p.c.h.67215 жыл бұрын
Power Balls I don’t disagree that you sell the best gyro, but I selected the most expensive option of shipping available, I believe you call it “tracked courier” and it’s going to be delivered 7 days after I placed the order. I live in Spain and I have purchased plenty of things from the UK, never from Ireland, and 2-3 days is the average time, for sure never 7 days. I thought It would be better to buy directly from you than from Amazon. So what I’m saying is completely true, I have no need to make things up, I just wanted to get the powerball in time for my son’s birthday.
@rpmpower5 жыл бұрын
@@p.c.h.6721 Hi Silvana, I'm disappointed to read your messages regarding the delivery of your order. As you may have already gathered from some of our replies to you earlier, we are a 100% customer focussed company and so I'm always disappointed when I learn that one of our customers is not 100% happy with the products/service we provide. In this case, we shipped your order using a GLS service that cost us approximately 40% more than we actually charged [for the service] and were not aware, at time of shipping, that you needed the item within 48hrs otherwise we would have been quick to point out that it would not reach you on time in Spain (while it's always nice to sell our Powerballs, we would prefer that we exceed customer's expectations and so would not have taken (or shipped) the order had we known) Actually, as a case in point, I personally purchased a set of Bose noise-cancelling headphones last week on the official Bose site at a cost of just under €300 - these were also for a birthday gift and it took 5 business days to reach me here in Ireland, despite my purchasing them from the Bose.ie site and their being shipped to me by a courier service. This didn't bother me in truth, but it does validate what Rody said earlier that sometimes people's expectations regarding delivery time frames are often slightly unrealistic in terms of what is available at standard shipping rates - yes, it is possible to select a 2 day service from some countries to some countries, but often, these kinds of services are horribly expensive and so we simply do not use them (I am sure we could have gotten a quote from UPS or TNT that would have gotten it to you in 48 days but would you have paid €35 or €40 for that? Probably not and certainly not what most customers would pay so we don't offer it unless someone specifically requests it - it's as simple as that). Anyhow, I understand that you've been chatting with one of our customer service girls and so I'm not sure where it's at between you guys but feel free to drop me an email (rory at powerballs) and let me know what you'd like to do. Thanks again Silvana With my kind regards, Rory

In the same way that a hula hoop falls to the ground when your body gyrations aren't 'in sync', your Powerball will die after 10-15 seconds if your wrist rotations aren't in phase with the spinning rotor. Be just 0.5seconds out and it'll stop. Get in sync however, and it'll build speed in that rotor and burn your 4 main forearm muscles like nothing before (those same muscles which give mobility and strength to the wrist and grip strength), Some users 'get it' in 60 seconds, some take an hour or more, it's just co-ordination. You're Powerball is a wonderful device, but will be a useless piece of plastic if you don't use it correctly...just like a $1000 bicycle that you keep crashing into walls...not the bike's fault. Hope this makes sense. Kind regards, Rory
