How Does The Re-Animator Serum OBLITERATE THE BRAIN?

What lies at the end of our biological functioning essentially remains a mystery. While we don't know, it doesn't stop our species from being worried about it. As a result, we have increased our life spans through medicine and in healthier choices, well, for the most party anyhow. But what if there was a way to actually regenerate the human body? That would be the holy grail of medicine. In the Events of Re-Animator, One man has conquered the end. By using his serum, he is able to raise those that have recently passed, and even further past that. However it comes with a catch, brain damage. So what exactly is happening? Lets discus in todays episode!

There was a story of a saturation diver that had some type of catastrophic event while diving and ended up at the bottom of where he was diving unconscious and stayed there for like a half hour before being rescued and ended up making a full recovery without brain damage. The deep cold was what kept him alive slowing down his bodily processes .

After they tried CPR and cold water in the tub before they carried me to car and took me to hospital. I didn't come back as a vegetable but I did take a lil hit to my short term and long term memory capacity.

@@KageKobushi problem is as far as thepubknight said is the body would have to be prechilled, apparently what caused the death to begin with has to be fixed n then pray to God the blood hasn't started clotting inside the veins, freezing might "preserve" a little but ice crystals will ruin that parade pretty fast along with third degree frostbite symptoms. I had a younger brother who suffered a drowning accident when he was 14... he apparently had all around brain damage and as far as I remember he remained in a stage 4 coma after some time, he lived another 17 years before an amalgamation of problems rose which guaranteed his inevitable death, what was it... bowel perforation, sepsis, tumor growing in his trachea which collapsed one of his lungs, blood infection so they couldn't operate and he needed blood transfusions, so they had to let him go.... 😢 If it's your time then there isn't going to be any way out of it.

Being realistic, the scale of the universe makes Earth being the only planet with life practically impossible, however that also makes it just as difficult to find within that sea of stars. The possibility of other Sapient life in the universe is not an unlikely one, but in all likelihood neither you or me will be around long enough to experience humanity discovering an answer to that question, if we ever do.

HP Lovecraft made quite an effort to research as much as he could for his stories, especially myths and legends of other cultures to give him ideas for new and strange things. Something he rarely gets good credit for since people like to just write him off as a homebody and racist these days. He would likely be drooling over the sheer information access we have today. I think too being someone who did actually enjoy traveling, he would love how much more affordable it is to travel cross-nation today. He never really had a chance to travel outside the US due to financial limitations, but he traveled fairly extensively in the US.

DnD nerd here: Level only represents your experience as an adventurer, your background can easily imply years or decades of study, even of fighting (soldier or gladiator come to mind) but in the end all that experience doesn't apply to actually being out in the wild having adventures, fighting other humanoids is not the same as fighting mimics, beasts or interdimensional aberrations. When it comes down to long lived races same concept applies: particularly if the character was raised in a secluded society, like a monastery or a walled city. Also i dunno about other systems but in dnd half elves rarely make it past 200~300 years old

Ive been clean for 6 years now, but about 7 years ago, i OD on fentynyl and the paramedics said i was unconcious for 5 or 6 minutes, my buddy was first aid trained and he kicked open the bathroom door, and performed cpr at more than 1 per second, he did the recomended staying alive song rythm....anyways, point being, since that day ive had more trouble figuring out responses to people than i did before, it takes me longer to figure out words and im definetely more forgetful than i ever was before....so im assuming their was a small bit of damage, it hasnt been to much of a detriment to my life and the whole situation pushed me to smarten up a quit drugs and alcohol completely, so i guess you could say it was a small price to pay

I remember this case being covered about this woman who slipped under ice into a bit of freezing water. She was stuck under the ice in the water. Took forever to get a helicopter crew there, her body temp was low beyond known survivability, undetectable pulse, brain was deprived of oxygen for quite a while, she was declared dead, BUT somehow she ended up being a medical miracle. She came back to and made a full recovery and I'm pretty sure she set the new record for coldest body temp, longest time a brain was lacking oxygen YET somehow still being able to be revived and not being brain dead. They think the extreme cold helped this.

Science fiction becoming fact makes a lot of sense when you look at technology. Things like VR and holograms used to be science fiction after all, but it is specifically because of that, that people endeavored to make that tech a reality. However, like Roanoke mentioned in this video, I find it so much more fascinating in the cases where biology or medical matters in science fiction would later prove to not be so far-fetched, or coincidentally pre-date, and mirror, the discovery of important pieces of info on how our bodies work.

You totally reminded me of that little boy who was born with like 10% of his brain 🧠, i saw a show about him maybe 2 years ago at most. Its amazing, they told his parents he wouldn't live long after birth so if they chose to continue the pregnancy they had to prepare to say goodbye 💔. But he kept going and now hes delayed but a happy clever little boy. His brain has developed to something like 70-80% of a normal brain. It's amazing what our bodies can accomplish when given the chance and sometimes with a bit of help.

My personal theory (im writing this before watching the full video) is that its some kind of bacterial cocktail that re-animates (TITLE CARD) your stem cells and kicks them into overdrive. The reason you come back _wrong_ is cos of brain death. Your meat hard drive just crashed so obviously the YOU data that it holds is all jumbled and shit. Plus, the hyperactive stem cells need a lot more energy, so that makes you super hungry all the time. Now lets see what Roanoke thinks about the serum... Edit: ah... So i was close to The Roanoake Assessment ™️. The meat hard drive goes through a boot up sequence and only the animal bits wake up first, so the subject goes into great ape mode, the default config. With enough juice and a less damaged brain, you can power through the boot up sequence and get basically human-like behavior.

Home sick today so been a fun and energetic video like this is great. Until recently I was never a fan of watching horror, I always found it cheesy. I've enjoyed movies that had horror elements like Alien and The Thing. My main interest in horror came from my love of special effects. One weekend I went on a bit of a horror movie bender, trying to pick movies of different ages and tones, this was one of the ones I watched. Jeffrey Combs is awesome.

The level of non-care when it comes to someone passing in this film is kinda becoming a thing for real from what I've been taught. Been going through medical school, and active and passive euthanasia is being encouraged and asked when it would be acceptable to do so. Passive euthanasia typically is something like ceasing treatment or pulling the plug on people, active is when you purposefully kill them such as lethal injection or causing a lethal overdose. This is to save resources, make room for new patients, and more alarmingly, to get fresh bodies for body part donations. Some articles even encourage brain-dead patients as experimental test subjects since being brain-dead means they aren't conscious but alive and it's free game in comparison to someone who can sue for bad medicine. I'm just worried about those one in a million cases where the brain-dead actually come back; imagine being one of those and waking up pumped full of chemicals/ diseases and pieces missing under the pretense that your "technically dead". Maybe I'm wrong, but what I've been taught and told to research has alarmed me at the very least. Time to update my will!

Please do more research into Nerve based Memory. The concept of 'muscle memory' may have grounds in reality. That learned reparative tasks can become 'instinctive,' carried out without any higher thought, is fascinating to me. I am of the belief that our entire nervous system is used in memory and thought, with the brain regulating everything as opposed to directly controlling it. Likely, as you mentioned: Just so we can remove ourselves from the fire before we realize we are on fire.
