Gosh, too many to think of. I always start with how do you like to carry (thumb break, belt slide, pancake style, etc.). Then leather or kydex? Then price point (money no object or looking for more affordable?). Custom holsters start at about $100 and can take six months or more at times. Nose around eBay and Amazon for ideas. Google “OWB holsters” and click on images and you’ll see zillions. Roy

I want one! I love the U-dot sights on my Hellcat and believe that they are the best combo for me to get speed and accuracy. Very easy to shoot well! At first, I wanted the 5" gun. But I really want this model, especially because it doesn't have a rail! Another thing, the features "commonly seen on $3000-$4000 guns" are ever increasingly more common on $1100-$1700 guns...
@fmgpubs2 жыл бұрын
Agreed Craig, on seeing these sorts of "custom" features on modestly priced production guns. I wonder what's next for the custom world then? Roy H.

It looks good. For myself I'd rather have the rail, an optic cut and an aluminum frame for ease of carry. I have been happy with the quality and function of my early EMP. I have never been disappointed by SA.
@fmgpubs2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tanker. I think for some, this model represents a good “basic” fighting pistol but with some nice custom features added. Not everyone needs or wants a rail, optic, etc. But that also means you may need to buy more guns to have it all, eh?! Roy H.

Roy, I've been reading you for years...now I get to watch you too so even better. I've come to respect your opinion on all matters, GUN. I'm in the market for a 1911 and I don't have a 9mm. I like this gun---no, I REALLY LIKE this gun! I like the Garrison as well but I'm getting off point. I think you carry a Springfield on a pretty regular basis. What I'm eventually getting to is this, how did you get past what Springfield did a few years back? I've got a memory like an elephant (except for things my wife needs me to remember) and I just haven't forgiven them yet. Is there a really good reason I should forgive them? Thanks much for any help you can render in this matter. If you prefer not to answer, given your line of work (Ha---yeah, it's HARD to retire isn't it?) I understand completely. Thnx again
@fmgpubs2 жыл бұрын
Hi Roy. Great first name you have there by the way. Thanks for your kind words too. Regarding the past, I know the leaders and the top people at Springfield and firmly believe at the time they were under-informed of what was going on. They came out with the initial statement, then almost immediately retracted it once they discovered the real facts. They have always proven to be strong gun rights supporters then and since. Plus, if we fail to support companies in our industry, then we’re doing the work of killing ourselves from the inside for the gun-grabbers. They just sit by and watch us take-down the very companies they want gone. Even if someone (like the great conspiracy people, etc.) firmly believe SA’s actions were wrong, SA did reverse their decision. Can we not forgive someone for making a mistake? It’s one of those “let the one without sin toss that first stone” situations. United we stand … or we’ll surely hang separately, eh? Thanks again for your thoughtful comment. I predict some might disagree with me in the extreme here. It’s their right though. I just hope they are content to see gun companies go out of business. How would it be if they were gone? Who won then? Roy H.
@roygaisser92302 жыл бұрын
Boy, did I ask the right guy or what? I truly was not aware that they ever retracted those actions (I looked it up and you're quite right). Thank you Roy, for a candid and thoughtful answer. I can certainly forgive a mistake (since they did acknowledge that is was a mistake), Lord knows I've made enough of them. I've been wrestling with the Springfield thing for a number of years now. You, sir, just sold a pistol. Now the big question.....which one???

I want a skeletonized trigger for mine but don’t know what to buy
@fmgpubs2 жыл бұрын
Andre, there are about a zillion options for that. The first thing is to figure out why you want one. If it’s just for the looks, then pick the one you think looks cool. I honestly doubt, though, it will appreciably enhance the performance since the existing trigger is very lightweight. Originally, metal trigger were drilled to lighten them to help prevent sear wear (trigger bow bouncing) but today’s triggers have solved that issue decades ago. Go to www.brownells.com to see your options. They have lots to look at. Best of luck, Roy H.

Damn it, I don't have anything in 9mm, but this might be it. I have a "tricked out" (Series 70) in .45 ACP but if I was to buy a 9mm for an EDC, this might be the one. (SA is really good stuff, IMHO).
@fmgpubs2 жыл бұрын
I've really gotten to like the 1911 in 9mm. Soft recoiling, the slide is easy to run and ammo is a bit cheaper. And as you say, the SA guns are top-notch and always scary-accurate. Roy H.

@gew18982 жыл бұрын
I agree with your assessment of forward slide serrations. It looks like a nice pistol but I’d never buy one, due to Springfield’s anti-2A skullduggery. The back room double dealing just doesn’t sit well with me. What a bunch of Quislings!
@fmgpubs2 жыл бұрын
Gew, please see my note regarding SAs actions back then. If we don’t support the companies in our industry they suffer and some go out of business. Even if it was a mistake, can’t we forgive that? They have a solid track record over the past five years, at least, supporting the industry, their customers and gun rights. Let’s not drive someone out of business and hand that to the gun-grabbers. Roy H.
@gew18982 жыл бұрын
@@fmgpubs What they did is unforgivable. What Smith & Wesson did in the 90s was unforgivable and I haven’t bought a Smith since. If you don’t hang a few Quislings along the way then every company will become backstabbing Quislings. Traitors to the Constitution need to be driven out of business, and they deserve much worse than that. If we let them off the hook so easily then it’s our own fidelity to the Constitution and Natural Law that is called into question. When it comes to my God given rights, passed down to me by the blood of patriots, I will not compromise with traitors like Springfield Arms. They have spit in the face of our nation’s martyrs and they have attempted to deprive us of our inheritance from almighty God. They conspired with degenerate socialists to undermine our rights and then they lied about it when caught. There isn’t a corner of Hell hot enough for the lying and treasonous president of Springfield. When he sells the company, or passes on to his eternal torment, I may consider Springfield again. Until then I’ll just stick to Dan Wesson for production 1911s. God bless America and God punish our enemies, both foreign and domestic.
