The 'war without end' ideology. Keeping a war going even when its goals or aims are impossible to achieve. We saw it on a small scale in Afghanistan and also see it on a larger scale in Ukraine. Why? There is huge money to be made from war, the US and NATO (Israel is a de-facto member of NATO) cannot be seen to withdraw support for a fellow member engaged in a conflict or encourage a fellow member to negotiate peace. Only total victory is acceptable which cannot be achieved. So we're back to square one, war without end.

Notwithstanding the US's public pronouncements, it shares Israel's desire to solve the Palestinian 'problem', by pacifying the Palestinians. Hamas will not be destroyed, it will simply be exported. The American expressed support for a two-state solution to the conflict is just obfuscation. The port it will build in Gaza is not designed on humanitarian grounds, but for the establishment of a permanent American presence in Gaza.

It cuts funding to UNRWA ( I assume at this point, you know what UNWRA is?) So the US has decided to stop feeding the Gazans through UNWRA, and Israel does not let the trucks in with food so the Gazans can starve. By building a port in Gaza, the US will want to feed the Gazans directly. But this is all, not about food, but about control of the Gazans, with a permanent military base in Gaza. Americans had bombed Laos ,Cambodia and South Vietnam for 4 years, dropping a planeload of bombs every 8 minutes, 24 hours a day for 4 yrs nonstop....yet the Tet offensive still came .After Tet the US realised they couldn't win the war , they had just spent the last four years mercilessly pummelling Laos,Cambodia and Vietnam ,placed the people into collective villages, burned the forests...yet the Vietnamese were able to pull of such a massive offensive, as if the last 4 years had been nothing. This whole talk of a two-state solution is just an extension of the Balfour accord.
