My brother Josh Arana reaffirms how Garifuna culture and society are united with other non-abstracted realities of cultural and social roles in my country, Ghana. Josh, in so short a time your message teaches and redirects u s on how to reteach ourselves. Thank you.

I think every drummer should watch this. This is a way to deepen the passion one has with this instrument and actually to understand it. I love how the parts of the drum are explained, and how this highlight that we are tied, that we are connected to each other. Being passionate about something, though knowing one is passionate and how passionate one is, does not necessarily mean that the passion is actually understood regardless of how beautiful this is. Nevertheless, besides analyzing and understanding this passion, Joshua Arana guides us through a process of introspection, and even self-discovery for those of us who love the beat of the drums. Great job. Greetings from Puerto Rico.

Absolutely love this. You made me smile. Even though I'm still getting to know my Garifuna you made me even more proud of where I came from, giving me yet another reason to love and embrace my roots . ❤ Seremein

Excellent job Josh!!!! I’m very proud of your accomplishments in bringing that academic perspective to the Garifuna culture. For your next 15 minutes presentation, would you mind doing another video which would include more scholarly references, such as, calling out the names of those unsung or forgotten Garifuna-artistic-predecessors who had done so much with their cultural contributions for the Garinagu people? In doing this, you would be assisting with documenting a well deserved Garifuna History that could be used for elementary, high school, college, and university student research projects.

I maintain that Josh should have rose to the ranks of the lead singer for the Garifuna Collective, not taking anything from Lloyd but his cultural expressions and understanding is outstanding. Enjoyed the presentation.
