Over here in Ireland, and in the UK, we call them a Dexter wedge. They're old and very reliable lures. They're great for seabass in heavy surf.

No doubt about it, it is a very reliable lure. At the moment, it's my go to Lure when nothing else works. Thank you for checking out my channel...it's very much appreciated!

It seemed to catch the bass in the Huntington Beach ocean waters this morning, better than live bait.

Thank you for checking my channel out! I'm sold on this lure. When nothing else works, this is what I use. If I still don't get anything, it's because the fish are probably not around, at least where I'm fishing.

hey, do you recommend using these for cloudy days or sunset (very low sunlight) at the surf? do you noticed if the catch results are the same as super bright sunny day?
@fishingbuddyph8786Ай бұрын
I pretty much use them anytime of the day. However, I have more luck when I use them mid to late afternoon. I've tried them on "super bright" sunny days, but haven't had as much luck. I've used them on overcast days and have had success. Hope this helps!

I got a gold spoon I’ve never used it but I wanna catch a red drum or black striped bass and other species can u name a few jigs to buy at academy or bass pro shops like fake lures new to saltwater fish
@fishingbuddyph878610 ай бұрын
Honestly, I do more Bait fishing than lures. However, some of the lures I do use include, but not limited to, bucktail jigs, diamonds jigs, silver casting Spoons made by Hurricane, flutter Spoons and Kastmaster spoons. That's what I use to catch bluefish and Stripers with. I have never fished for red drum or black Striped Bass, so I really can't help you there. However, any aggressive fish will most likely go after any of the lures I mentioned above. You might also try your luck with soft plastic and plugs such as top water poppers. Good luck!

Yeah, you can. The best ones are the small size ones. People don't really care for them because they are very oily fish.

Have you ever tried one of those squid Plastic lures

No, I have not tried them yet. Maybe someday I will.

I purchased one of these but it's a 1oz, will this work ok to use for surf fishing?
@fishingbuddyph8786Ай бұрын
Yes. In fact that's the size I use most. Used it yesterday and caught a Striped Bass. I do also carry the 1/2oz and the 3/4oz. Most of the fishing I do is surf Fishing or from a jetty. Good Luck!

How many oz is the spoon?

Hello, Zayd! I usually use a 3/4 oz, but I carry 1/2 oz all the way to 2oz.

@@fishingbuddyph8786 Ok cool thanks for the info! I'm new to surf fishing so I'm trying to figure out what weight spoon to get. My rod is rated for 2-6oz so would a 2oz lure be the right choice?
@fishingbuddyph8786 Жыл бұрын
@Zayd Anderson I really wouldn't worry too much about the rating. It's really more like a suggestion. 2oz will definitely work, but you should also be okay using 1oz or even smaller depending on the line test you are using and what species you are fishing for.
@fishingbuddyph8786 Жыл бұрын
Since you are just starting out, don't be afraid to experiment. Use the one that feels comfortable for you to cast.
