I spent the better part of a week in high school to remember 100 digits of pi the hard way, sing-songy style. Not getting to 1000 with that method. She did it in half a day.

Same method to memorize a full deck of cards or to solve Rubik's cubes blindfolded. You could change the amount of groups or use different letters. It works pretty well.

Its because of the PAO system she introducer. The mind is good at remembering stories. Therefore if you in your mind palace has “outside the front door, sat Ryan gosling and he was riding a harmonica” thats a gazilion times easier when you need vast amounts of number. I myself memorized 1500 digits of pi using this method, and every memory athlete uses it.

It’s easier to assign words and people to groups of numbers, then make pictures and stories out of it. Instead of remembering 1000 numbers, you’re remembering 166 pictures that represent groups of numbers
