They need to have a fatigue feature. I just can't see how guys can be on the field for more than 2 minutes. Even in boxing where you throw you're fists you get tired at 3 minutes. Now you're carrying a 5-10lb sword swinging it for you're life, you wont last 3 minutes. There needs to be lines not just holywood action style fights.

Everyone has at least some head protection, most soldiers have shields. Armored soldiers can take a beating, but are not invulnerable, there are not thousands of soldiers forming lines and running at each other, just smaler detachments in what would be a larger skirmish. But amount of discipline like this would be expected only in the most professional soldiers. Breaking line routing/in pursuit would be much more common. Yep, haven't seen a movie coming close to this in accuracy.

If such a fight was made realistic, you wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Most of the people lying on the ground would have been alive for a some time, they would have screemed and moaned, and the victors would have robbed them in cold blood and finished them off. The tactics are fantastic too. Before the Napoleonic wars, armies knew only two commands: charge and retreat. Therefore, large armies were divided into detachments - after any command, the troops became completely uncontrollable. If they won, the soldiers immediately began to loot. If they where crushed, the soldiers ran without looking back. Due to the extremely low tactical organization, the nomads succesfully used the same primitive tactic of feigned retreat for hundreds of years.

@@pirateenglish sources? Because I know a lot of examples that prove a lot of commands existed in military use before napoleon. Ie: roman military formations, Wall forms, phalanxes, ... always advanced, never charged. If you lose form in a battle, you lose. Without exception almost.

I always save arrows as much as I can. Since warband I used to cease fire between waves to make the most of my archers. That last move tho, moving his archers behind the enemy lines, brilliant. 👌

These two Realistic Battle AI module and Realistic Battle Combat module make the combat last longer and let's player actually do such things, on normal Module the combat finished quickly and doesn't let player use some tactics.

it's realistic battle mod, which comes with an AI module which makes the AI behave in a more realistic manner. They'll hold formation, dart in for a quick strike before retreating back into the cover of their buddies, and generally behave like how real people would in a melee

Use the Realistic Battle Mod (with the combat stats/gear overhaul mod, too, unless you are playing a wide-ranging overhaul like Blood and Smoke) and HP Gain by Level (like 1-2%/level so that L26 veterans have about double the health of an L6 recruit) and you'll have some epic battles with a lot less insta-death by arrows due to better armor modeling.

Good video but, I feel so bad that you doesn't use archer enough. Well, it depend on each person strategy anyway but I prefer to lure enemy into the area where there will be 2 lines of archer flanking from left and right, having footmen for attraction and finish off with cavalry pierce through the enemy line, break up formation and rush to the enemy archer. This will end up will low casualties as the enemy just get showered by arrow from every direction. (Using horse archer from behind)

It looks like there were probably 150-200 units per side in this melee? I like that it took way longer for that amount of units to die. Compare that to Warband and Vanilla Bannerlord, thousands can die in 20 minutes. Lol.

What settings and mods you use? My battles are usually quite quick once the infantry engage one side usually sweeps the other. Yours seem to have a shield wall stand off for a very long time? I like your well planned strategy, but I feel the game punishes it. Tend to find I lose way more troops if I try to conduct battles in stages and have troops wait in reserve etc. Having more troops, or significant better troops, and just hitting charge from the get go seems to be the best way to win fast with minimal casualties I find. Wish the game rewarded strategy more, maybe troop fatigue during battles would help.

i love battles to, the best if the ods is stacked 300vs 1356st its fun to beat the ods and take a kingdoms leader and head lords capure and execute them and make shore that 100 of the 300 is cavalry! the rest 70 crossbow and 130 shield units. Micro manage Cavalry is fun

This was satisfying to watch but 1. it would be better if you turn on in the settings the number of corpses so the devastation would be more clear 2. Do a plot twist at the end where after a costly battle there was a bigger band just waiting to finish you off and end with defeat.
