Yes, most people speak English. Its the primary language in schools in the Philippines 😊 Visit Cebu, Bohol, Palawan for the pristine beaches and Makati/ BGC for a more urban city life.

1. Beware of scammers. Like any other countries, we have our share of bad apples. Connect with Pinoys you already know for quite some time. 2. Learn the culture first to minimize culture shocks. 3. Get your shots (consult your doctor) if you plan on going to the diff islands of the Phils. 4. Keep an open mind. 😊 Places to visit: 1. BGC - for the citified experience 2. Siargao and Palawan - for the island experience. Siargao is like 75% populated by tourists from all parts of the world and has that typical tourists night life vibe. And Palawan has the most beautiful places to visit. 3 weeks is not enough to enjoy our country. 😊 But welcome to our beautiful country!🇵🇭❤

To add: beware of airport taxi most of them is scammers they will friendly to you specially if you are foreigner but in the middle of the road they will ask you a higher price. if you want to ride a taxi just download “Grab” to your phone it’s like an “Uber” it is the safest way to travel inside Manila. And if you are in island like Palawan or Siargao renting scooter is the best way to enjoy scenery

Guys, been to the Philippines several times. Absolutely more affordable than U.S. Your money will go very far. Customer service is number one and you can make lifelong friends. Food is one of the biggest draw, lots of variety and unique foods. Downside, there are definitely scammers and pick pockets, so be extra careful. Lodging affordable depending on how picky you are but the more expensive the more luxurious. Poverty is sad, there are obvious distinctions. Food, be careful what you eat, they are not known to waste so better to ask before indulging. Oh, and traffic is atrocious in the city. Probably wouldn’t move there, but an awesome destination for visitors. You’ll be glad you made it there. Also the Filipino artists are known to meet with reactors who frequently react to Filipinos, such as yourselves. so see if you can arrange to meet Morisette, Katrina and Budakhel, KZ and so forth. Very accommodating and cordial folks. Best wishes. Don’t forget to vlog.

Filipinos are very welcoming people, they love seeing foreigners enjoying their country. They are attached to American culture so you will certainly feel at home. Plus Filipinos are very family-oriented, they give importance to family relationships and values. For sure you will instantly have a family away from home.

Every body speaks English because remember Americans colonize the Philippines for 48 years so it’s very Americanize. A lot of my foreign friends retired in 😂Philippines and some of my Relatives and my brother who retired from the US Navy now enjoying his retirement. So basically your Dollars will be X 50 it’s a lot so why don’t you try. Main thing is the house and lot. In California you cannot buy a 2 bedroom for about $550K but in the Philippines your $200 Thousand will be a very nice home and it’s brand new. Well you guys take care🇵🇭🇺🇸 and I heard that you like Karaoke well you’re in the right place because Filipino is the one who invented the Karaoke and modified in Japan well you gonna love it ❤

You mentioned going there in the summer of 2025.I would reconsider going there in the summer time of either countries. April & May are typically the hottest months( too hot & humid) and June is the beginning of the rainy season. I think the ideal months are from Nov. through Feb. (warm enough for shorts, t-shirts & flip flops but not too hot )Here’s a couple of bonuses going there during that time. Christmas starts in Sept in the Philippines (love it!) and if you happen to be in Manila on New Year’s Eve, I would stay at a hotel room several floors up and witness the fire works display that’s on another level & not done anywhere else in the world. Good luck & enjoy

It is cheaper to live in the Philippines due to the conversion. The only problem really is the traffic, but if you will stay within the vicinity of where you live then you don't need a car to get around because there's grab like (uber) or taxi. Stay in Makati or BGC. All the services like laundry, cleaning, nail, and hair care are the cheapest. Also, massage and facial spa are pretty cheap. So yes retiring in the Philippines are very much encouraged. English is spoken everywhere you go all the signs are in English. Lastly the people are hospitable and will treat you like family once they've known you as a neighbor. So many expats live in the Philippines.

If you have traveled then you won't mind the difference you will encounter as "The Learning Curve" is huge in finding things you want or like as everything takes longer and slight "project" but enjoy the journey. You may find 4 weeks is too short and get apps when you land of Maze for maps, Food Panda and Grab for rides then have 2 or 3 ways to transfer money. Angeles city and BGC are most American verses other places as many will list tourist destination and will depend on what you want to do and see. Motorcycle is best to see the most as only cities have trikes or taxi best is to ask a couple of locals especially hotel or Airbnb folks as They know where to go and nothing is like google in US as most inaccurate. 7461 islands so lots to choose and i have been several times and traveled many islands on Honda PCX and will retire in Dumaguete with Girlfriend i met on 2nd trip a sleepy town like midwest USA and a good jump off point with ferries and small airport. Also look at bad side so things don't offend you and careful of some street food but 90% are great and Sari Sari stores are helpful and deals at Ukay Ukay stores. Enjoy and if like me you fall in Love then you might be expats like Us too💕🏍😎

In Manila you should stay in places like BGC or Makati, it is quite pricey but worthied because you are surrounded by restaurants/cafe etc./easy access. For guys like you the most ideal is Cebu City coz the provincevof Cebu offers so many aminities to Expats and no other province in the Ph can beat. Its competes Manila in economic activity, city development or modernity. It will soon be the next Singapore. And his had a very apeealing rusticity.

Nowadays, its relatively safe all over the country. There is no more threat from the islamists and separatists. From the airports, choose cabs authorized by the airports to avoid scammers. When in trouble don't hesitate to ask assistance from policemen and locals who are always willing to help you. I traveled Sri Lanka and India. Travelling the Philippines is more costly probably because it offers so many things to do. Night life is vibrant and so many entertainment places to choose from. If you come, never miss Boracay.

For 3 weeks vacation, have a stop of 1-2 days in Metro Manila area before you head to islands. Stay in BGC or Makati or MOA mall area. A lot of hotel and airbnb selections. And also close enough to airport. There are American food/restaurants all over but try the local restaurants as they can offer a version of American food that can be for your liking. Head to islands of choice like Boracay, Palawan (remember SLMT MV? It was shoot in that area), Bohol or Cebu. When in the islands, you can never go wrong in their grilled food selections. Don’t miss the Mango, Coconut and Calamansi(Philippine lemon) juices while there too. Always give a day of rest after each area before you head to another one. It kind of save some cramming stress and give you guys a rest. You can see 2 south of Philippines beach area. If time will still allow, you can visit good areas close to Metro Manila. 2-3 hours max. travel to Tagaytay for views and food or Batangas which also have beaches. Or spend 4 days maximum including travel to Baguio and Benguet (Justin’s Sunday morning and greenery scene of Surreal). Best time to come Mid-October to start of March where a lot of happenings can occur. You may even catch SB19’s concert at that time. Rainy/monsoon season is a big no-no. Mid-march to start of June is their Summer. Ok to come but heat and humidity is notorious to make you get sick. Excited for you guys if this will happen.

Hello, Ryan and Cindy. Glad to know you're gonna be visiting the Philippines! 🇵🇭🥰 For the places, I recommend you stay in Metro Manila, particularly in Makati City or Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City, it's the urban capital where there's a lot of amenities and convenience for you. From there, you can then visit the capital Manila to see a lot of historical significance. Then, go to Palawan, as you've mentioned, to enjoy the countryside and also beaches and resorts. You may also want to visit Boracay, which is a popular destination for beach-goers, and also visit Baguio City, the "summer capital" of the Philippines. As for the timing of your visit, I would suggest between the months of December and March when the weather is generally fine and cool, because it might get "too warm" for you from April and May, while it may be inconvenient during the rainy season, usually June till November, unless you want to experience some typhoons (I think you call it hurricanes in the US). English is widely spoken, it's actually one of the official languages aside from Filipino, so you shouldn't have to worry about that. It will be better though if you learn to say a few Filipino words, like "Salamat" (Thank You), "Kumusta" (How Are You), etc. as you'll see Filipinos are surprised and delighted to hear foreigners speak Tagalog. Filipinos in general are friendly, kind, approachable, accommodating, humble, happy and always smiling or laughing. But like in any other place or country, don't let your guard down and always take care of your belongings. Hope you will enjoy your visit to our country, and get the chance to meet the people who you have been reacting to like Morissette, SB19, and many others. The cost of living is quite affordable as per Western standards as we have seen in this video, because the exchange rate is somewhere in Php50 to $1. So, we wish you the best of luck and may you have a safe, happy and memorable visit to our country. 🇵🇭🥰

English language is taught in schools here. So only those who weren’t able to go to school may not know how to speak but they mostly somehow understand common basic English words. You just have to avoid certain parts in Mindanao but no foreigners actually go there because those are remote areas. You can ask your subs anything you want to know so you will be guided. And of course, anywhere else in this world there will be scammers. So just be cautious with them.

I am Filipino and first experienced North America as a teenager when our whole family transferred to the Big Apple. I did get to go back to the Philippines later and experience the tourist spots on my own. Life in the Philippines is less expensive than the U.S., that I can say. I suggest that, just to have a visual preview of the Philippines, you watch the Video “ Wake Up in the Philippines”. Most Probably your plane will land in Manila and there is a lot of nightlife in the Makati and BGC areas of Manila. Just in case you would like to experience nature while you stay within a city, There is Tagaytay City, (cooler climate), about 2 hours drive from Manila. Another choice while still staying in the island of Luzon is the city of Baguio, (elevation 5,050 feet)originally established by the U.S. as a hill station, in 1900, when the country was still the Philippine Islands, U.S.A. Well, you also said you are more into beaches and bars and not the “Wild areas”. The world famous Boracay has both the beaches and bars, expect that there will be a lot of tourists AND since, according to the Philippine Statistics office, there are several hundred thousand expats in the Philippines, also a lot of expats. There are many beaches all over the Philippines, two of the more famous beaches are on the island of Palawan, El Nido and Coron. Just trying to give some information here.

Been to Philiippines several times. There is an attendant for gas. Slow internet, Phones are chargeable. Tourist can stay for 29 days but extension up to 90 day. Many government agencies are in the mall or close to tourist spots. Now if you are a previous Filipino, they get 1 year visa. Basically, do your shopping while you wait. Rental costs can be from 300 to 800 dollars per month. Food cost is about 20 bucks per day/person. Transportation are from 10 to 15 bucks a day or depends on your travel. Utilities, he already explained but add some 20% sometimes. To live off good, 2,000 to 3000 bucks a months that includes your medical insurance.

Your choice of Palawan is great, my family in my mother's side is from Culion which another island in Palawan after Coron. Place to avoid is where I am from Manila because of the heavy traffic, another one is Makati. (depends on you if you wanted to experience city life but the traffic is the worst). A lot of other Expats and foreigners enjoy Cebu, Boracay, and Siargao. You do not need to worry about the language barrier because a lot of people around can speak in English, some may reply in broken English but you will still get the idea and thought. Hope you will have a safe trip and enjoy staying in our country.

if youre in manila and you ride a taxi, if he gives you a fixed rate for the ride, either counter the price into half or ask for meter only. simcards in airports are pricey. buy in a mall instead and let them teach you how to "load data" if youre ok with long distance travel, cebu is a great location. you get beaches in moalboal, whales in oslob and canyoneering in badian. a boat ride across is bohol where the chocolate hills are located and danao adventure park (where the plunge is located) also close in cebu is what most people's bucketlist is located, which is skydiving. it is located in the bantayan islands. from the cebu bus terminal, ride 4hours to hagnaya port and ferry boat to santa fe. if youre into just hanging in 1 spot for a week, siargao where the island life can be most feel by foreigners. you could just surf the whole week away. ... or boracay which is the place to be. boracay can be a bit more crowded and pricey though but its was once voted #1 place to go to in philippines.

Choosing an island would depend on your needs. If you're sickly or need surgery, then I would suggest Iloilo City because it has really good hospitals and beaches. You still get the provincial life feel but it's a city so all your needs are met. The island of Panay, where Iloilo is located has great beaches, resorts, etc. Boracay is just a few hours drive away. Other islands with good hospitals would be Cebu City and Davao City. Not all hospitals in the country are complete with surgical equipment and/or doctors. So if that's a major concern then options for islands becomes limited.

Your interest in white sand beaches/resorts, clubs/night scene, restaurants, waterfalls, highlands .... you have to be base in the queen city of the south - CEBU! On top of being the 2nd biggest city next to the capital city of Manila, Cebu is strategically in the center of the country that makes it best as base to travel to the country's best locations such as Palawan, Boracay, Bohol, Siargao, Camiguin, Davao 👍 I assure you that the bustling cosmopolitan city of Cebu wont give you guys a culture shock as someone who comes from the America 👍

In the future, if you want to travel abroad, buying airfare ticket is very expensive, but there is a way to get it cheaper. First you have to plan your trip, and then you can shop around and get a better deal. You have to look at least 3 or more months before you travel, that way you can get it in a-cheaper fare.if you have a friend or acquaintances that works or own a travel agency it is much better ❤

I am an American and have lived in the Philippines for 5 years. I am currently 70 years of age. A lot of people here speak English. I don't speak Tagalog and I get by fine. I have a Filipina girlfriend and she translates for me when it is needed but I go places alone with no problem. You should understand that in Tagalog, the emphasis is usually on the second syllable unlike English that usually emphasizes the first syllable. Rent and utilities are cheap here. Food is cheap unless you buy a lot of American items. Potatoes are very expensive because they are imported. Public transportation is readily available so you do not need a vehicle. Driving here is really crazy so I would not consider having a car. My expenses are about $800 per month. I am on a tourist visa and they require me to exit the country every 3 years. Good places to visit include Cebu, Tacloban and of course Manila. Manila is a huge, crowded city but you need to experience it one time to appreciate the life in the Philippines. I have visited Vigan which is a popular tourist place because they have a lot of Spanish architecture. There are beaches everywhere because this is an island nation. Palawan and Boracay are the famous ones (expensive) but I have not been to either one. I live in Sta. Maria, Bulacan which is peaceful and mostly quiet. I pay $700 per year for Philhealth which is the national insurance but it mostly used for hospital stays. I visit a neurologist every 3 months and that costs $7 per visit. I have a significant list of medications and I spend about $120 per month for meds. The guy mentioned Jollibee, it is very popular but I don't like most of their menu items. I like Mang Inasal which is all over the Philippines and was rated by one critic as the 5th best chicken restaurant in the world! You need to try that at least once while you are here. You should also check out another vlogger whose is on KZbin and his channel is called "Life Beyond the Sea." He has lived in the Philippines for more than 10 years and has created hundreds of videos to help people learn about living here. I learned a lot from him before I came here. You can message me for more information if you like.
