Great video, Gabriel! I've been wanting to do the Cami de Cavalls for years - excited to see what it's like on Menorca. Btw, a good option for a bit cooler temps but still beautiful beaches, towns, and mountain hiking is going to the north of Spain. There are camping grounds just outside of the cities like San Sebastian, Zarautz, Santander, plenty of others (all within walking distance) and the Camino del norte goes along the cost and is absolutely beautiful. Good travels!

If you are looking something cheap to travel in Spain you might want to give Camino de Santiago a try. Accommodation in hostels and sometimes in monasteries is generally very affordable and of course it’s a good way to get outdoors exercise (sometimes a bit too much and some resting days are probably called for). Another magnificent place for spectacular views in Spain is Gran Canaria, but definitely not the cheapest.
@hermenegildoc39335 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it is usually cheap except Fromista

If you can't get to Menorca for the hiking, I recommend you try out the trails in Mallorca. A good 3 day hike would be Valdemossa to Deia to Soller to Lluc. For a really offbeat hotel experience try out the monastery at Lluc.

Nice scene in that little dorm eh? Reminded me of 2AC on Indian Railways😂 The supermercado was a bit overpriced but that's the area. When you get out of Palma, as with anywhere in the world, the small town square markets will see you right for amazing bread, good oil, olives, cheese & fresh fruit-it'll be pretty cheap to feed yourself as opposed to restaurants etc. Man, I love the grub in that part of the world!

Great video Gabriel. I assume you know tha the Balearic Islands are a very popular holiday destination for British and German tourists- that's why accommodation is so expensive as you've gone there in high season. It will probably get even more expensive in late July and August as you've seen with the motorcycle rentals. This is also why there are so many restaurants- I suspect that the reason the food prices are so reasonable is that there is stiff competition. Hope you get some good hiking on the Balearics.

The El Arenal and the Cala Ratyada areas are two of the most notorious party beach areas in Europe. I know it's not your scene at all but if you are in the area you might want to check it out just out of curiousity. And these areas are also good for a nice variety of cheap food.

Mallorca is a fascinating place. I've been there 4 times over the past few years, admittedly spending more time in Can Picafort (Alcudia Bay), and once in Platja de Palma (Palma Beach) / Arenal. Palma is not really named after Palm trees because those tree are actually not native to Mallorca. They are imported. Mallorca has been a place for tourism since ancient times.
@bobjackson47204 жыл бұрын
I went there in the late sixties. At that time the English tourist was king. Fish and Chips, roast beef & champagne cocktails were everywhere. Used to be dirt cheap. Stayed in Arenal. The off season long weekend break total cost 18 pounds (including flights). At the time the streets were full of an overwhelming smell of olive oil.

Some great shots, this is a little nostalgic for me, I was in Palma back in 1976, I spent 2 weeks there with the US Navy,out of all the places I been too, Palma was the best, I even met a girl there on my first day, we hung out the whole two weeks, she was a dream girl , from Palma, very beautiful and full of life, it broke my heart to leave her, we wrote back and forth for a while but the time and distance at that time was just to great, I always regretted not going back for her, i guess it was not meant in this life, but if I had a time machine, I would return to that time and place and look her up.

In addition that you only walked along 3 streets and straight ahead, you didn´t explore Palma. You can not say how expensive it is only going to the touristic places and might explored the "workers places" as Es Forti or Son Forteza. And as well, 26:07 you say that´s the king and queen residence in Majorca. Right, but in 14 century, mate. Olé tus cojones.

28:00 Ha, in some Spanish cities you can get a tapas like that for free just for buying a Caña😉...also, you really don't have to tip in Spain, most Spanish don't...it rarely goes to the waiting staff and is not expected by them, only tourists tip who are used to US culture etc..so save yourself 10% per meal 😉
@TheMikygaga5 жыл бұрын
That's not completely true. It depends of the spanish person that you ask! I always tip!
@samdefore26925 жыл бұрын
Tipping culture is ridiculous in Canada and the US, you are expected to tip for every service, min15% on meals even if the food was crappy or the service. When I was in Australia they don't tip, I don't remember if I tipped when I visted England. In Europe, I guess it depends where most don't tip but many restaurants charge a gratitude if you eat there, ang right if you tip (with a credit card especially) it just goes to the place and not the staff.
