Every conversation seems to be around.. Us North American’s... We have been thinking of coming to Casa Linda for sometime now to buy a villa for our retirement but there is almost no talk about people from the UK or Europe like us.

That is because most of our community is from North America in general, due to proximity. However, we do have owners from around the world! Check out this video on a couple of UK owners and their experience living here kzbin.info/www/bejne/mITcgYOwqKeHeLc

Great info, thanks. Seems to be so much conflicting information on the subject of living expenses and costs of goods. What concerns are there related to water/food quality i.e. bacteria/parasites etc for we North Americans?

Thanks for your comment! There's nothing to worry about regarding the water and its cleanliness. We have potable water (to drink) at a very affordable price point (or bottled international brands), and then running water, which is treated by the national entity that controls it! Many ex-pats love in this area from all around the world and feel safe and comfortable.

Hi Colleen, I've admired the DR as warm tropical, affordable place to vacation and live but I'ld like to know more about the water situatiion. Water from the tap is not drinkable. What about showering? Do you have to be wary about the water getting into your mouth? Does everyone have to buy bottled water regularly. Can you order goods from Amazon and do the good always arrive? Is WiFi fast and reliable most of the time? Have you experienced crime? Thank you for your knowlege about living in the DR.

Hi Darryl! Thanks for watching. The water here is potable, which means you can use it for everything, and if treated you could drink it. For all other questions, I highly recommend you watch this playlist on living in the DR: kzbin.info/aero/PLGf7dkSgZni25aFSH40M06NOC_MJrK8SV

Thank you for this video! Have there been many lockdowns or mandates? How encouraging to see you in a restaurant. :)

Thank you for watching our content! We hope it's helpful info. Even though this video was recorded pre-covid, most restaurants are working as usual, but keeping the proper cleanliness measurements and social distancing. Besides that, we have been out of a lockdown for months now, but the DR still has a curfew, super flexible weekdays and weekends.

Thank you for your nice video Colleen. Very well done. One small quibble. Please don't refer to my beautiful Paradise as "The Dominican". We call it DR, we also affectionately call it Santo Domingo. When you call it Santo Domingo you are letting the natives know that you love the country as much as we do. Thank you again for your wonderful videos.
