"Eyepokes are a Problem in the UFC
There are many awful fouls in the MMA, but eyepokes are some of the most egregious.
An eyepoke simply refers to when a fighter extends their fingers into an opponents eye, usually to deter a fighter from recklessly closing distance or in order to gain an advantage by impairing a fighter’s vision.
Eyepokes can change the course of a flight, end a fight entirely, and cause permanent damage to a fighter’s sight.
And yes there are bad apples with a history of this foul, but one way to mitigate this is to change the UFC gloves.
The current gloves are stiff and leave a fighters hands in a naturally open position, but famed coach Trevor Whittman has developed a glove to solve this problem.
They naturally keep your fists in a curved position which would point a fighter’s fingers downward.
The UFC was actually so impressed that they wanted to buy the rights to these gloves, but Trevor Whittman wants the gloves to be ubiquitous across MMA organizations, so it seems like it will remain that

It's crazy to me that PRIDE was founded in 1997, went defunct 10 years later, and STILL have the best gloves. Obviously that extended to DREAM and now RIZIN, but how the UFC just stubbornly refused to adopt better gloves when they've existed for 25 years is beyond me.
