In this video we wanted to test how far a 9mm is in fact capable of producing a potentially lethal wound. We do the standard pine board test that Barry demonstrated in the "How Far Will a .22 Kill" video, as well as a bit of ballistics testing at long range. Do you think the 9mm will penetrate a clear ballistics torso at 440 yards?

I live in Nova Scotia Canada and even out here in the sticks people still get hit with stray bullets. It does happen quite often and statistically speaking, if every 60 seconds there is a "one in a million" chance of getting shot and killed by accident, there are over 7000 deaths world wide each minute.

Thank you. This reaffirms my belief that there is almost NO reason not to choose 9mm. More magazine capacity, cheaper, less recoil, more widely available, and (now) more deadly at a distance than I can reliably be accurate anyhow. I’d remind viewers that being accurate when under combat stress is different than shooting on a range. That said, that was some DAMN fine shooting. Don’t mess with these guys!

WOW - That is amazing! At 440 yards the 9mm with 124 grain ball ammo went through both the 3/4 inch plywood AND the 2 by 4's. The same kind of ammo also went through 9 inches of ballistic gel. I'm really glad to see people taking 9mm seriously. I went for a 9mm carbine on the basis that if it was good enough for the British Sten and the German MP40 at standard 300 yard combat ranges, it was perfectly adequate for a home defense carbine.

This is my thought too! I’ve had my eye on the Kel-Tec Sub 2000 Gen 2 for a while now and this video just confirms that’s my choice. I live in a city as well so I don’t want to be over-penetrating my walls and giving my neighbors a bad day either. Gun safety says know your target and what is beyond. I don’t understand how people think 5.56 or even 00 Buck is a good idea for home defense. Paul Harrell did a presentation showing those calibers/shot will go through 3 internal and external walls and still have enough energy to kill an innocent bystander. The 5.56 rounds still continued through the target and overpenned with some ammunition. Way too much risk to hit something else other than the bad guy imo. 9mm Luger is perfect for stopping power and penetration. Especially for what I need it for. It’ll go through my internal walls but it for sure is not going through the drywall over lathe and plaster over brick exterior walls. Not to mention that I can actually shoot it at the indoor ranges around me since there aren’t any outdoor ranges in the city so I can actually train and be proficient with my rifle.

I like your thinking sir. I am almost certain it will be a 9mm carbine for me. I am just trying to learn and make a decision right now. Frankly I am leaning towards the Hi Point. The reason is that I watched a serious review of the Ruger PCC and it jammed a LOT. The Hi Point although being a very inexpensive gun gets the job done. I saw a review on it and it passed with flying colors. In the comments people seemed to love it. My only complaint is I would like a takedown. So buy a non take down that is perfectly good and cheap OR get a takedown that jams and is a lot more expensive. Onwards to the Kel Tec.

I'm a RSO with over 40 years experience. I teach my students to use their pistol out to about 300 meters without a rest. This goes for whether it's a glock 26 or something designed for precision shooting. I drive the point that the bad guy may have a rifle. I also trained on the Uzi in 9mm. With a 266mm (10,5") bbl. We used to put rounds on target at 1000m and even effectively engaged targets at 2000m in semi automatic mode. With practice these things become easier. Thank you for another great video. I have always used 9mm but viewed it as the less desirable choice until I started working as a forensic psych. I do mental status exams on everyone involved in a shooting in our county & I review the police reports etc. Anyways, to make a long story short, I can't say I have noticed the extra energy of a .45 to be a big factor. I have however; noticed that lots of people run out of rounds. The average number of shots fired in a fight is relatively low but situations where someone fires 10, 12 or even 15 rounds isn't uncommon. It seems to me that you are more likely to need more rounds than a little more energy in each round. There are a million variables & countless ways a situation can play out but I gotta go with the numbers & it seems to me that more rounds is a bigger advantage than a little more energy per round. I still want a .45 though. Maybe a nice 1911, just for fun.

Most calibers are dangerous out to a mile. There was an incident when someone was killed over two miles away from a .44 magnum. The bullet had lost a lot of its velocity but with it's weight it still had the power for a kill. Just always make sure you shoot in a safe direction with a good backstop. I could hit this one tree that way way far away with that thing and it HAD to be at least 1/2 mile away...and you could even hear it when the shell hit it because of the echo. Granted, a .22 is a very FLAT flying round and that's one big reason it's so popular but just imagine the same scenario with a much larger caliber. A human wouldn't stand a chance.

These videos have gotten me interested in extreme distance pistol shooting. I own a ranch, and have my own 1500 yard range (I compete at 1000 yard shooting, using a Barrett 50 bmg and a 338 lapua magnum on a 700 chassis) I'm a 40 year gun collector, so I have quite a number to choose from. I was astonished at how well I could group 9mm ball at 100 yards, after some time figuring out a proper hold. What really amazed me, however, was the result of firing a CZ Rami at 200 yards. I never would have expected that little beast to perform...well, at all, at 200 yards. But I was consistently able to keep about a 10" group on a standard police silhouette, which easily qualifies as "center mass". 200 yards out of a Rami...just amazing. Thanks for the great videos guys! Keep em coming!

+ZorlacSkater ...No matter what state you're in you'll still need a license, the ease of getting these licenses is debatable. That and if you have some kind of criminal record it gets significantly harder to get one. Granted a gun license is much like a driving license in Denmark or Germany... You read some stuff, you get asked a few questions and you pay a certain amount and BOOM license. And then depending on the grade of that license the gun-store is allowed to sell you certain weapons. Higher grade licenses have more security behind them as well as a higher cost.

The reason I like this already and I’m only just at them finishing up at 100 yards, is that they don’t just show us them hitting it, but the reality of how is isn’t easy like some try to say or think to shoot someone just from that distance. So I like they don’t just show us the hits, but the misses too and how it would really go in a situation like this. And this is them at their calmest, imagine a shootout or someone moving and you moving and obstacles in the way. That’s why it’s good to have these types of practice to get comfortable with a weapon and how to control, aim it, sight it in, etc.

ar556nato Not if you can have the ability to kill allot of people in a very short amount of time with said firearms. There is no right saying which firearms can be prohibited. It doesn't even specify firearms. When they wrote this bill they where dealing with muskets and swords not silenced 300 blackout AR's with subsonic ammunition! And It doesn't even apply to citizens it's talking about militias! You and the rest of the right wing are the ones who aren't very bright! Fucking capitalist pigs, and your kind support them. They're the reason why this country is in the state that it is!

The people have the right to defend the freedom of the State. It clearly says that this right shall not be infringed - meaning that they shall not be banned. Where in the Constitution does it mention muskets? These are the weapons the military had at the time. If you don't want to own firearms, then don't buy them. We are keeping ours though. Thanks.

@paulmiltiades6612
@paulmiltiades6612 9 жыл бұрын
During the Marine Corps Weapons Qualification Course you are "required" to shoot 500 yard ironsight shots onto a male 6ft 3/4 silhouette . If your gun is sighted properly you do not hold the front sight OVER the target ( a MAJOR misconception in shooting) but let the target rest on top of your front sight. Imagine writing the letter"i" but sitting the dot directly on top of the line for the bottom of the "i". If your gun is sighting where you cover the target with your front sight you have it sighted incorrectly for long range shooting. There are some caveats as there are some sigh systems which are designed to cover the target like the "post and dot" sight option on Ruger Hunter Mark III's
@CZ350tuner

Paul Miltiades I was taught to shoot in the British Army a long time ago. One mistake trained out of recruits is to take aim with one eye shut. It causes the open eye to squint and looses the shooter depth perception. Instead we were taught to take aim with both eyes open and to superimpose the iron sight over the target. (We also used to Tippex the end vane rather than wet it with the old spit on the finger). I've no idea if the US soldiers learn to steady the left arm by always balancing full cups and drinks cans on top of the thumb of a clenched left fist whilst walking and running. It is a very old Britiah Army trick that dates back to the musket days centuries ago. The left arm aims the rifle, the right just pulls the trigger.

440yards with iron sight? Child's play. USMC annual requalification is 200,300 & 500 yard course of fire. USMC M14 & M16 battle sight setting is 200 yards. No red dot,no laser,no holographic,no anything. Just iron sights.

***** Sitting down at a shooting table using a gun rest firing 124gr 9mm fmj at a man sized target at 440yd is good shooting, but,not particularly impressive.
