Levo SL carbon comp My longest ride so far has been 28.7miles. I ride 90% of the time, on factory setting, in eco mode. I ride with traditional mtn bikers, I ended that ride of 3 hrs 45 min with 49% left in my battery. We are riding in Utah on dry trails. I absolutely love my bike. It has made it possible for me to actually feel like I am I’m the group, not leaving at the same time and arriving home when everyone else is eating dinner. Thank you for all your videos, they are helpful every time. I also like that you will cover some things more than once.

If you can ride without gloves, it's not 'winter'... 😁 I'm interested to see my range on my 625w battery this winter if I can even ride it in Finnish winter temps. 😄

just be careful not to charge them until they're room temperature. I know charging those batteries when they're below a certain temperature can permanently damage them. Not sure if draining them when it's cold will also damage them. arguably the battery is one of the more expensive parts of the bike. this factor is one of the only things that keeps me from buying one, I commute by bike year round and in the winter here temperatures have been recorded as low as -30F| -34C

@@better.better coldest I've has is minus 29 Celsius. I won't be riding in that though! 😁 charging is indoors or in back of motorhome garage which is heated. 👍🏼

I’ve managed a 48:49 mile ride with 5310 feet of climbing using the range extender too 👍👍 so not bad really I used eco to turbo in different situations :

I've found that riding at -15 C drops my range ca. 30% from +25 C. -22 C drops the range by ca. 40%. That is when using a neoprene sleeve over the battery for insulation. Of course packed snow on the ground causes more drag than hardpack, but I'd think the battery chemistry slowing down and getting less efficient makes a large part on the difference. Also, I've found that the rubber on some tyres freeze and begin cracking at those temperatures. Actually, I have done quite a few Strava PRs on winter trails, they can at best be both smooth and very fast.

Your flat tire is a good reminder. Last year on one of my first e ride's into high country, California Sierra's suddenly realized with my enthusiasm and way longer distances traveled I was 12 mi in and no kit to repair in case of a flat. I immediately turned around and came back thankfully nothing happened. Later on that same trip out in the desert I was 5 mi out and my tire exploded but fortunately was able to hitch a ride back to camp. I then made it a priority to get a kit before my next ride. Duncan

Weight of rider is a factor too. At 62 inches and 110lbs, I get more range. I recently rode 22 miles with 3,100 gain in dry conditions and still had 24% battery. This was at higher elevation with most of the ride above 7,000 feet. Temps were 45 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Love my SL!

Biggest ride I've done on a 500wH battery and Bosch's new Tour+ mode: 45 miles and 6000 feet of climbing in 4.5 hours with an average speed of 8.5mph. I have a 625wH battery too, but it's more than I can use. 😊👍

Watching you ride in UK winter makes me really happy I live in Australia (Sydney), cant believe you didn't ware gloves (respect there). Our winters are around 14-20C with summer being up around 28-36C. I use dry lube for dusty conditions, there seem some nice tracks to ride over there, great video, BTY I ride a Cube Reaction Pro 400.

Only had my SL for 3 months. Biggest ride so far was 28 miles, 4,500 feet and 25% battery remaining. Hoping to do a lot more like that. Fantastic bike.

One of the things I love about riding an e-bike is the miles just skip on by. Sadly I'm without as mine was stolen. Saving up for it's replacement. Cheers from California, Duncan

Yesterday, on my Trance e+0 with 625 Wh battery, started with 100%, did 74 km with 1550 m climbing, 16% left after I came home. In addition, replaced disk pads and rear was making a lot of drag, which increased consumption. But I'm satisfied anyway. Forgot to add, using only default ECO mode.

@@Multipotentialitis Thanks! I'm enjoying my eMTB in double - for having a great aerobic training and traveling twice as fast as on analog bike and cover double the distance in given time frame. It's just a better bike in any way you look. I have 5 bikes and ride them all, eBikes are the future, no question about it.

@ 100% I love the ebike, I get double the riding in same amount of time, maximize the time I have available to ride and don't have to redline my heart beat to get to top slightly faster. My giant reign is now my park bike hahha, or the spare bike I'll let a buddy use and tow him up the hills 😄 Also the bike feels absolutely amazing doing downhill, even better in the air I think.

I have always wondered how much of a role fitness plays into the range of an ebike. We have had tests on temp, weight etc but never on fitness. All presenters are super fit (including Jonesie) ex pros. What happens if you put a fit rider, and average joe just starting out on ebike (older, just getting back into cycling) riding one of the adventure loops getting out and exploring the country side. Will they do 50km or only 30km? As they will/could be slower up hill, more time climbing, does that eat into the range, and if so by how much? Emtb and Trail modes, are “smart” modes so should they stay in that, or use the other modes available? Should an “unfit” person go for a Superlight or the full fat power bikes, and what range would they get from a superlight compered to full fat power bike? Lots of questions to be answered here. Love the channel and they way you present the content.

You should have done the same exact loop as the winter loop, and just shown how much battery was left in "Summer" mode.

I was thinking the same thing but then continue on to see how many more miles he could get. The only issue with that is that at that point he would be back to his house and still 5 mi from the trail, so to continue on from there wouldn't be trail miles, which I think was the point. similarly at the end of the winter ride he said that it was getting ready to snow in a couple of days: seeing that forecast was when he should have decided to switch up and do the ride in the snow. sure it's a less typical "British" winter in the snow, although anything's possible with this global warming transitional phase, but it's closer to a more typical "worst case" winter ride. I would say don't bother trying to film deep snow conditions because most people won't ride in that anyway.

Rode yesterday, 26.5 miles, 2649' climbing, 2 hours 5 min riding, 9% remaining. Levo SL 320WH battery. Mostly Trail mode /w a little Turbo towards the end when the power started reducing at 2 bars.

I've been riding a Levo SL for 2 mmonths (so, in summer time) and i think i can, probably, do a 2.000mt climbing with one battery 320W. This is based on my last rides, specially the last one (47km, 1.070mt and 3h10m, ending with 51% battery). I do believe that, with some fit, people can reach 1.500mt with a Levo SL and 2.000mt with some hard work. I will try to check during winter.

With an yamaha engine and 500wh of battery i can do in eco round about 4000feet climbing and approx 40 miles (1300hm and 65km). Depending on the ground and heavy tires (big Betty and magic marry weighing 1,4kg each this can drop to about 38km and about 800meters of height) But in general i would say its more depending on muddy ground, elevation and the tires u use than on temperature. Btw im approx 100kg and the bike is 25kg

I've had over 50 off road miles on my SL,, on average around 10% difference between SL and 625 battery which isn't much at all, obviously if I use my extender battery I last longer than 625

How much difference will that huge back pack of made you had on in the winter ride? It would also be interesting to see what difference knobby tyres would have made, more drag in the dry but better grip in winter 🤷‍♂️

The battery itself performs better in warmer conditions that's why you get more range in summer all things else being equal..

You state you were trying to make it ‘real world’ so issues all different modes as required, which is cool. However, might I suggest that no-one in the real world is going to ride through the winter on Ikon Race tyres at 30psi?! 😂

Since the ebikes give out more, if you put in more, does that mean that riding faster drains the battery quicker than just pootling around does?
