This fun and hilarious off-road series follows three couples in their adventures. Follow the 2005 Toyota 4runner, a 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser, and a 2018 Toyota Tacoma as they offroad and camp in different states and offroad trails. Yaaaa I once listened to the ranger on an unrelated road trip thru Moab not knowing what trails/road to go down... "you got 35s and a lift, you'll be fine" he says. I ended up with my running boards smashed right into my doors... Smashed my rear bumper up and ripped out the trailer wiring lol. Fun times.

I picked up an 06 Sequoia with the same engine. There was no indication that the timing belt had ever been changed. Your timing belt looked really good compared to mine. There were cracks all the way across about every 1/2". My truck had 210k miles on it and I believe it was the first time it was changed in 2019.

I've got a 2003 4runner with the 4.7l, and I love it. I removed the XREAS and front sway bar, and so far, it has been a beast off road. I dont really drive it much anymore, usually just up in the trails or to hunt and fish those out of the way spots. 210,000 miles and clicking right along. I did a side turnout on the exhaust as well, I like rolling my rear window down. I've never had it let me down.

Now it has just over 400k and we offroad the shit out of it... and rescue stuck sucker's all the time. She's in the high desert off road rescue group, were in victorville ca. @@DirtComplex Right on man, glad you got the help you needed. Yeah my sister n law pulled two people in two days last week. One was stuck in deep creek with a stock jeep patriot (or whatever one has the x in the taillights) and next day a cable installer van that a tow truck wouldn't go near cuz he was in soft sand. Don't know of any other brand of vehicle that can have 300, 400, or even 500k and still off road reliably. 4th gen is so freekin capable, she has a small lift, 33's and a winch and that thing is almost unstoppable. If you ever call on the high desert rescue folks again and a white 4th gen with a chick named heather shows up, that's her. And yeah, she never takes monies for her efforts. Thanks for the kind words about the group, I'll pass them on. Your video editing is awesome.

Thanks! The tires shipped in right after the trip and I didn't wanna miss the trip Haha. Springs and shocks all around are definitely on the list.

Not sure how I stumbled upon these couple of videos, but, look up how to effectively engage the atrac system. Looks like a few of the spots in the first video would have been doable if you’d stayed on the throttle (2k rpms ish) long enough for the system to kick in. And you have to be in low. Maybe the editing threw me off, but doesn’t seem like the system is working for you as it should and it’s pretty impressive what it can do on the 120 series platform.

Good eye! I found out after the trip a mouse chewed up one of the connectors to the yaw sensor and it was messing with the atrac system. However, at gold mountain the rocks were just too wet and I had no traction. Wranglers on 35s and lockers were having a tough time getting up that day as well. One of them gave up and winched. A couple others we helped spot and they were slipping and sliding.

You need a full coil over suspension, rock sliders, either MT or AT tires and finally some armor to protect your front and rear situations.

I have 295/70/17 tires. Coilovers will come eventually but they cost more than the 4runner hahahha

Haha yeah it definitely wasn't entirely the spotters fault. We both rushed into it and didnt notice the now obvious ledge sticking out... I just tried to make it a fun segment.
