Truthfully, he probably loses to King Piccolo who is about twice as strong as Roshi who completely vaporized the moon with a full power Kamehameha and if not King Piccolo, he loses to Piccolo Jr who is about twice as strong as him and if you think Luffy could somehow not only contend with but defeat someone roughly 4X above moon level, he gets cleared by Raditz who was able to dominate Goku and Piccolo Jr in a fight simultaneously, there’s just no way that Luffy as he is now could even be argued to go above Raditz in my opinion and honestly saying he could even have a real fight Piccolo Jr is a stretch

At the time of the power increase a scouter was still a good measure of strength, and if it wasn't they wouldn't use the number for reference books. If Raditz, who was still much stronger than goku and piccolo, can easily destroy the moon and arguably earth it's hard to say luffy has a chance at all. The only thing he can bet on is his endurance but Luffy doesn't have resistance to energy blasts, and you could make the argument that ki control could give Raditz access to haki like qualities. There's no character in OP that could OBLITERATE a moon the way Rosh and Piccolo do.

@@lightyoshiman well power levels where more of a plot point than a real measure of power to give the Z fighters an advantage. apparently hiding your power is a skill that almost noone has. that is why at the beginning, shouters are used to shout strong enemies and why opponents often rely on their scouters to find the z fighters, who can just power down and hide.

That is litteraly is why power levels even were created. Right when radditz shows up it shows gohan being shit but still be able to rise his strenght. That is the immediate lesson learned. Love the video but I gotta disagree. Considering in the world of Dragon ball, your attack potency would match your durability and considering that Master Roshi blew up the moon with full Power and Demon King Piccolo murdered him Luffy would stop at him. Keep in mind that someone of the likes of Frieza survived Namek's destruction even after being cut in half. Or Goku blasting himself with the Kamehameha at full Power and dont even have a scratch on him. He also Punched Frieza's Death ball out of space because be was stronger then him. Not to mention, Radtiz himself would beat Luffy as well considering he wasn't trying to kill Goku but he wanted to recruit him. Makes since when you think anout it since Piccolo destroyed the moon with reltive ease. Kid Goku also has FTL feats when he countered Tien's solar flare while it was being used by stealing Roshi's sunglasses. Most of the Fillers that Toriyama worked on are also cannon too and been interviewed on it so you could look up on his questions and answers in the Daizentsuu. So Vegeta stopping by at that bug planet can be considered Cannon as well and we all know unlike Goku it's very difficult to catch Vegeta lacking. We'd also need to take in account of combat speed and traveling speed since in Dragon ball the stronger you get the faster you'd get as well. Master Roshi's and Krillin's fight took about 0.2 seconds and they had to explain to the audiance what happened or when it took Goku less then a half a day to get back to snake way to earth and Snakeway is a million kilometers long.

Nah I remembered that but I tried not to use it due to the weird inconsistencies of Dragon Ball. Back in og DB roshi could blow up the moon but Raditz for example was seemingly not capable of a similar feat despite being many times stronger. Vegeta destroying planet Arlia is also filler. Saiyan saga Vegeta claimed to be able to destroy a planet like Earth, but we never actually saw him prove that he could destroy a planet (at least in the canon media) at that point in time

He wouldn't want to blow up Earth, because he would not be able to breathe and would die when he could instead just kill goku. But I don't think that at any point he shows he can't. I feel like that would be like saying there is no proof goku is planetary until battle of gods, because he is never shown to do it besides fighting foes that can. Vegeta could also definitely destroy the earth, for two reasons. One, Nappa blew up a city with two fingers, and Vegeta completely blitzed Nappa with ease, and two, there is no reason for Vegeta to be bluffing. The second point is definitely not as strong, so I want to hammer in the fact that Nappa blew up an entire city with two FINGERS, got killed with absolute ease by Vegeta, and then the same man who made Nappa look like a joke charged a full strength galick gun right at the earth, which is many times stronger than a regular ki blast, let alone two fingers from a much weaker character that still wiped out a city. So I really see no reason that the galick gun would not be able to destroy the earth besides low-balling him for the sake of a longer video (which I get, but I still think it's a bit too cherry-picky).

Saying that it would take the great ape forms of Vegeta and Nappa days to destroy a country is silly lol. Piccolo earlier in the arc vaporized the moon with ease, that same piccolo is far stronger than Roshi, and Raditz should scale above him. Saiyan Saga Vegeta is actually never seen destroying a planet in canon material (Planet Arlia is not canon). He says he can destroy the earth but that could have been anger filled bravado for all we know. And the thing with the moon busting is that DB and early DBZ did not really have a power level system in place yet. Toriyama kinda winged it. But my point is that it is incredibly difficult to accurately distinguish what is an oversight, what is an inconsistency, what was just left out, etc. But everything is just made for entertainment anyway so both opinions are fine.

This guy forgot General Blue can leap into the clouds/ free fall from the clouds into the ground with his pure leg strength, no damage to his legs whatsoever. General Blue, Namu, and the high level warriors who can handle them for a while (Tao Pai - Pai, Kid Goku, Kid Krilin, Kid Chiaotsu, Yajirobe, high end Budokai Finalists) have similar physical strength. Namu once leapt into the clouds and from that height he dropped down and hit Kid Goku's neck with a double karate chop. Kid Goku survived. Super leg strength and arm strength for Namu. He received zero drawback from that move, no damage to his legs and arms. And he did that move multiple times, claimed it was his best move. It means he wasn't a ki fighter and already that strong. Also super neck strength for Kid Goku to survive that move. ... This is the era where ki usage is at the top 1 % (Kame School and Tsuru School). But even with that, guys who didn't use ki like Namu, etcs; can kill people with a simple tap, because of their super strength. ... Also General Blue survived getting headbutted from Japan to Egypt. Thats crazy durability. This is the casual level of the best martial artists in OG Dragon Ball. Heck Tao Pai Pai can kill Blue with his tongue, now that I think about it, it make sense because he uses ki on top of his super strength. ... Then there is King Piccolo, who can easily defeat them all including Roshi, who can destroy the moon.

Remember at the First Budokai in the series Krilin literaly had no ki arsenals at this point and he can trade blows with Goku and Roshi just fine. And he sent his Monk bully straight into horizon with a single kick. And he was holding back. Their physical strength are already amazing.

This video was really well put and I’m actually amazed on what specific scenarios would have to take place in order for Luffy to win however. Given what’s been presented and known even back to dragon ball itself…….I would have to say luffy would hard stop at demon king piccolo. As for why?, given what master roshi did at the tenkichi budokai tournament he was able to blow up the moon given smaller than the earth still a feat of its own right and what we saw of demon king piccolo he toppled that roshi with little to no effort so given that luffy although strong wouldn’t be able to contend with him and if he found a way then raditz would be the ultimate stopping point.

I mean tbf most characters even in Z have been shown to not be able to tank a planetary exploration, even Freiza avoiding using planetary destroying attacks while in range of it, wanting to get the fuck out after he set a timer of Namek, and Luffy being extremely nimble and having great dodging skills, especially in his gears, shooting a planetary destroying blast would also mean killing yourself too since he could just dodge it. There's also the fact that those kinds of attacks for Roshi and King Picalo take time to charge and Luffy would absolutely not wait for that. Seeing as all the fights in this video are 1:1 the king would simply not have enough time and would be smart enough not to launch one of those kinds of attacks at Luffy. Raditiz is a far different story however due to him having far greater ki control having abilities capable of moving after being launched though I still believe Luffy could win due to his greater speed in his gears that would be a much tougher fight with a lot of land getting scorched as Raditiz attempts to fry Luffy while Luffy waits for an opening.

Random Geese In A Trench Coat Frieza only wanted to get the hell out of dodge because Goku was beating his ahh. If the planet's explosion was a threat to him, then he would have died from it after being blasted by SSJ Goku after being cut in half after a while of getting the stuffing beat out of him by Goku (who confirmed he was losing energy very fast due to the beating). Instead, he got picked up by dad and was damn near bolted back together. Though Frieza is a survivalist outlier even by Dragon Ball standards. In Dragon Ball, you can mostly tank what you can dish out. Normal ki attacks like beam attacks and energy balls do not wipe out a fighter of similar power unless they are already critically injured (in which case, their power drops and they are no longer of equal power). Only specialized Ki attacks, which usually condense their AoE, can mortally wound someone of equal or sometimes greater power. Which also leads into my next point. Ki in Dragon Ball can be condensed. The premier example of this is the Special Beam Cannon. Piccolo uses it, condenses enough power in his fingertips to rival the power of someone many times his strength, then releases it. When it misses the first time, it hits a mountain and only blows up a portion of the mountain. A little bit later, it is shown that Piccolo could blow up the moon with a normal ki blast. So the Special Beam Cannon, while more powerful, has a smaller AoE than that ki blast. Thus, they don't have to worry about destroying the planet, even with attacks that technically carry enough energy to do so (unless they are using so much of their own power that it is hard to control, like Vegeta's Final Flash in the Cell Saga). This is why you see ki blasts only crack a few tiles even later on in Super, where the high tiers are fully capable of wiping out universes with their attacks.

There’s a lot of one piece feats which put characters at FTL and there’s the fact that the one piece world is ridiculously large (albeit a little inconsistent),but you still got luffy to even Ginyu without that. I think luffy can survive most of these fights because of things like future sight but definitely won’t be winning much. But when it’s all set and done vegeta easily destroyed that bug planet before getting to earth, there’s no feat to this point that indicates Luffy could withstand that type of damage.

So... Should I tell you when DB characters started popping off FTL feats? Goku was still tiny boi back then. :D Heck, one of his signature moves in early DB was to create an after-image of himself, and in most cases, (including this one), that would only work if you can go FTL. It's one of the few techniques he DIDN't steal from someone else. XD Heck, in one tournament where Krilin was fighting against Jackie Choun (Master Roshi in disguise), they had an exchange that lasted 0.2 seconds, that they re-created in slow mo for the crowd to explain all the shenanigans they pulled in said time. One of said shenanigans was playing a round of some game akin to rock paper scissors. And that was before King Picolo came out. The big difference here is that Toryama didn't make a big deal of FTL feats and just went with "dilated time" to let the reader know what was going on whereas it's ALWAYS a big deal whenever someone goes fast in One Piece. Sorry to say, but Lufy's feats only seem more impressive because the art direction is phenomenal for the action in One Piece. I would be surprised if Lufy could hurt King Picolo in any meaningful way and would go as far as to say that I wouldn't be surprised if Krilin from the DB era could beat Lufy. What is epic and daunting in Onepiece was played for gags in DB. It's hard to get a proper read on them.

Gonna say this before watching the video, Luffy definitely sweeps early db and king piccolo, might have an issue with piccolo Jr, raditz might MIGHT be a toss up but he definitely gets stomped by vegeta and Napa Post video: alright I was pretty much right for the most part, also gotta consider that vegeta can keep up with opponents roughly 1.5 times stronger than him as it took goku going kaiokenX2 and X3 just to fight on even ground and overpower vegeta. Vegeta can also destroy small planets as seen by I'm destroying a planet early on and him stating he'd blow up the earth with his galick gun. Let's not forget how durable Vegeta is, he fought people (presumably) stronger than Luffy for hours, and kept getting back up. He's the villainous version of a protagonist second wind taken to the extreme. Chaiotzu has a PL 4.38x higher than moon buster Roshi in the Saiyan Saga. If we include anime filler, after training with King Kai, Chaiotzu was able to beat Guldo. Luffy is a Chaiotzu victim.

During my research on Naruto vs. Dragon Ball I have concluded that I have definitely been too lenient on Luffy. After careful consideration, I have to say that Luffy definitely caps at Raditz. Its nice to see creators admit mistakes, and be willing to correct them. Though, even putting Luffy on King Piccolo level is being massively generous. Roshi literally blows up the moon in the 21st world martial arts tournament, has 3 years of getting stronger, then gets absolutely bodied by King Piccolo, who proceeds to wish for his youth to be restored, increasing his power even further. As far as I'm aware, even in Gear 5, Luffy doesn't have any feats that are even close to moon busting, which would still not even close to what he would need to match up to King Piccolo.

Considering factors such as: 1. The One Piece planet is relative to the size of Jupiter, upwards of a small star. Any Planetary feat/statement scales upwards from Large Planetary on a lowball to Star level at a highball. 2. A dying sick Whitebeard during Marineford had the power to destroy the One Piece planet, as stated by one of the other strongest people in the verse, who wouldn't have anything to gain from hyping him up, to demoralize his own soldiers in the middle of a War. He stated simply the danger their Enemy actually posed. 3. A Prime Kaido in Wano is a *Lot* stronger, more powerful and more durable than Marineford Whitebeard, which would by default scale Kaido to, at a lowball, Large Planetary/Dward Star level. 4. Gear 5 Luffy, while he needed help, still did most of the work needed to beat Kaido, his own stamina being the only problematic factor. As long as he was In Gear 5, his power was superior to Kaido, not to mention his Hacks abilities, which would then also scale Luffy to Large Planetary/Dwarf Star levels of *Attack Potency* (Not Destructive Capacity). 5. There is an important difference to note between these two different forms of strength, AP and DC. One refers to the force, the other refers to the scale. If a character has the durability that can take attacks strong enough to blow up a medium sized planet, an attack that would hurt him, would have to scale past Medium planet level in Attack Potency, not Destructive capacity. The area of effect means little, if the actual force of the attack isn't strong enough. You can have the Attack potency needed to destroy a Star, but if you lack the scale/destructive capacity, you wont be able to destroy that, but you would still be able to match a Star level being, since the target is Human sized, you can actually focus the potency of your attack on the target. Luffy as he is in the manga right now, can be wanked up to star level, but is realistically dwarf star at best, which would be a not enough to beat Frieza indeed, or any future arc Vegeta, but definitely Saiyan Saga Vegeta, and even Mid-Namek Goku. I definitely agree with most of the things you said. At this point in the manga, he already scales decently well past Naruto as well, which is consistent with how far he'd get in Dragonball. People are way too fixated on destructive capacity feats over Attack Potency feats, which is where the Naruto > One Piece imagination came from. Naruto verse certainly has a lot more large scale destruction in comparison, but that doesn't make their attacks more powerful on a human sized target, it means their attacks can rough up more regular rubble on the ground, on a larger scale, which just is not impressive. Even Whitebeards Quake Quake Fruit has more impressive Destructive Capacity feats, considering the best Naruto has, is an Ootsutsuki Clan Member splitting a Hollow Moon, which makes the feats lower than Moon level for attack potency, and only Moon level on destructive capacity in the diameter, and not the entire globe. For anybody that would be dumb enough to scale Luffy to the infamous "Continental" rumor, which only exists Outside of the fanbase, coming from people that doesn't watch or read One Piece, only needs to look at Don Chinjao clips or read manga panels with him, being able to split the ice continent in half with a single attack with No difficulty, meaning he scales well past continental, and continental destruction is effortless for him, and He is complete fodder, nor worthy of any mention to any middle-high tier in Wano.

Nope. The power of One Piece characters isn't really measured in how many mountains they can destroy. It is mostly done through scaling. I'm gonna start her by Law in Punk Hazard when he cut several mountains apart with a single slice, now that actually isn't the impressive part of his attack as he cut someone who had continental durability but whatever. Luffy in base is roughly comparable to Law in power, assuming that Luffy never grew stronger between Punk Hazard and Wano then he entered Wano as a mountain buster, immediately he goes Gear 4 and gets obliterated by Kaido, he then trains and his base becomes as strong as Gear 4 was, his new Gear 4 then loses again and his base becomes that strong AGAIN. Gear 4 isn't clear how strong it is compared to base but Gear 2 is stated as a 10x multiplier iirc and Gear 2 to Gear 4 is like Base to Gear 2 so that would put luffy at a 100x multiplier in Gear 4. So basically with basic scaling that starts by lowballing Luffy rn is a mountain buster 100,000 times over, which makes him Multi-Continental. And that starts massively lowballing luffy, by the point of entering Wano luffy was already Planet level through scaling based on a different starting point.

I'm sensing a pattern in various anime comparison videos, they often scale pretty well even against Raditz they have decent chances. But the vast majority of the time, a series hits Nappa and Vegeta and... it's over. Vegeta is (to borrow a term from video games) a "noob-gate" he's like a weirdly scaled boss fight with a crazy high difficulty spike.

Piccolo blew up the moon during the saiyan saga before the arrival of vegeta and nappa. Raditz tanked the same moon busting attack. Raditz is fodder to nappa who's fodder to vegeta. Nappa with 2 fingers can cause an explosion visible from space. Master roshi in db blew up a moon. Luffy can maybe beat raditz but he hard stops at nappa.

@@ijudgeanime still a good put together video. With naruto he wouldn't get past saiyan saga. Current naruto is nerfed. And the best destructive feat was the moon slicing feat and the moon was hollow. Kaguya never got her attack off so no idea on how destructive that would've been or if it would've destroyed her dimension at all and no telling if naruto would've survived it.

What I like about this vid is instead of comparing a character from another anime to DB protags, you compare them to the antagonists instead. Nice concept and far more interesting to break down. That said, Luffy isn't getting past Roshi tbh. Great vid though. Its all in good fun.

Very interesting vid!!! As a fan of both series (literally almost equal love) I did my own analysis and personally I ended up with Luffy JUST above Nappa (which depending on who you ask is way too generous or way too low) I can't see him touching (Kaioken) Saiyan-arc Goku or Vegeta - at unless they didn't use big (planet-busting) ki blast. With their regular speed and strength _maybe_ but that's a stretch. I am of the belief that _Raditz-faster-than-light_ thing is a translation exaggeration everyone took too seriously and DB characters don't reach light speed (which is very, very, very fast) until final form Frieza vs SSJ Goku. But that's just my two cents.

Yeah. That’s my belief too. Also Nappa doesn’t have the creativity to adapt to Luffy’s gear forms. And people bring up the moon destruction thing ignoring how character’s never use that level of power in a fight and how their durability and physical strength even isn’t the same as the power of their blast. Freeza attempted to escape Namek, if he could easily survive planet destroying blast that shouldn’t even be considered. Yeah he somehow survived but we don’t know how .

You neglected something with Vegeta and Nappa. The Saibamen - Nappa carries six of them, and each one is just slightly weaker than Raditz. Luffy would be hard-pressed if not curbed against just Nappa and Vegeta alone, but if he had to deal with an eight-on-one fight, he's screwed. Especially if one or more of those Saibamen gets a grip on him and decide to go boom.

You can tell that vast majority of people have never even watched the original Dragon Ball. The feats alone in the first Dragon Ball series would stomp loads of character's across anime, marvel & dc. Tienshinhan, Yamacha, Mercenary Tao, Master Roshi, Mr Popo, Goku, Krillin, Piccolo, Kami, and even Yarjirobi were all doing crazy feats throughout DB. They're jumping tens of thousands of feet high and performing complex moves whilst doing so, they're able to tank falling from those heights also. They're redirecting natural phenomenon, swimming across the entire planet, running at speed's above the sound barrier etc. By the time DBZ rolls around, even at the very start, they face a warrior (Raditz) who is solar system level in power. Piccolo and Goku could blow up islands and large cities with ease in DB alone. Master Roshi took out the moon, Mercenary Tao slices down a huge stone pillar from the Red Ribbon Army's HQ, which sould weigh close to 100mt, throws it at hypersonic speed in the direction he wishes to travel, then jumps after it, lands on it, stands on it chilling out whilst its screaming through the air at hypersonic speed, and uses it as a method of travel for his target that is thousands of miles away and lands by his target with pin point accuracy lol. These are insane feats that get slept on all the time. Luffy, Naruto and all that lot, have no chance against any of the Z fighter's.

This video is meat riding luffy so hard he would struggle to beat raditz but could one shot vegeta is crazy plus luffy even swapping bodies with ginyu is insane no matter how much luck he has him standing up to vegeta by a lucky oneshot and thats his only chance but he can magically scale to ginyu enough to possibly injure him enough to swap bodies. I wish you the best on your other videos, but please at least try scale properly without bias luffy is a cool ass character but he can't math up with anyone stronger than king piccolo
