I use mine every time I cook with charcoal. I have gotten mine lit in 2 1/2 minutes. It could depend on elevation too. It’s still an impressive device. Thanks for sharing

That bad boy supercharged lighting that chimney. 3, 5, or 7 minutes? Who cares? It’s sure as heck beats a natural draft! Nice video, Tom. Thanks.

You can get 8" x8" piece of heavy steel screen or expanded metal at the hardware store. Cover the top of the chimney and it will hold most of the sparks back. Try it

Just ordered one for a Weber Summit Charcoal. The built in gas ignition lights coals in the lower grate position in 10 -15, but in the upper grate position it takes longer and uses alot of propane. My hope is that the Dragon will outperform gas ignition for cooks in the higher grate position.

They now sell a grill grate to put on top of the chimney. Get that red hot and I think you might get a good sear on your steak.

Thanks for Watching Ted! I actually have the grate from BBQ Dragon that fits on top, just haven’t used it yet

I bought the charcoal grill so I can call the wife to tell her to light the coal while I'm on the way home from work. She's scared of propane. But this product is awesome

That was pretty impressive. I've seen ads, but great to see it actually put to the test! Also, those Weber kettle shelves you mention briefly look pretty cool. I need to make more space in the yard so I can get my Weber kettle back out again...

Thanks Matt! The shelves are awesome!

I'm sure if you used Kingsford blue it would light in about 3 minutes. I normally use royal oak and that stuff is little harder to get going than Kingsford. But still 7min is great!!

@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ thanks for the vid! I just ordered one. Gotta try it! I have this curse of always starting the grill too late before guests are coming over because I forget it takes 30+ minutes alone to get the chimney ready. I was looking at the looftlighter but this seems like it has way more applications and it's cheaper

You can do it in 3 if you use a good fire starter. I recommend dragon eggs.

I'm on my second blower because the first one just stopped working. I contacted BBQ customer service and told them my blower stopped working and they replaced it with a new one. When I got the replacement blower I immediately put new batteries in it and guess what IT DIDN'T WORK!!! I played around with it smacked it with my hand twisted the blower neck around and it finally started blowing after bumping it a couple of more times. It started blowing slowly and then finally picked up speed. It has done this numerous times and now it won't blow at all. This thing is a piece of junk and not worth the money they charge for it. I did email customer service about the second blower not working and to date I have not gotten a reply...DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS CRAP!!!
