Brother a 2:18.5 is a damn good lap around Spa, you should be very proud of that. If you're doing that sort of pace, I would certainly not call you a beginner. I have friends I race with frequently who are still struggling for a sub 2:19 around there. That being said there are plenty of people who can do fast times but are terrible at racing, so I guess there's more to it than just speed hahaha Very impressive improvement in a short amount of time, well done!

Impressive! In public lobbies you are already top5 thats not a beginner level. If we consider LFM, this kind of performance slips into the elo hell division. There is no cheap time to find game knowledge and setups are on the edge, only skill will bring laptime on the table. This is a long journey and some can't handle the frustration that's why racing usually dirtier than rookie class. Keep up and don't give much importance to your elo rating. Practice and you will be there! I really like your videos and waiting for the 200 hours report. ;)

A more important aspect to differentiate between a beginner and an advance driver is driving with other cars around you and consistency. Novice drivers tend to make mistakes sooner or later in a race especially under pressure.

Definitely not a beginner anymore, that´s a pretty impressive lap time around Spa. I also started ACC in may, as a complete beginner in simracing, I´m still struggling to get under 2:20 on Spa, and I´m constantly overdriving the car to even get to that level.

Thanks for the comment. I think over driving the car was holding me back for a while as well. I was trying to attack the braking zone too much, rather then focusing on a better exit. Nice lap time dude. Good progress too. Now go do your 2:18.5 in the Beemer. 😄. Ferrari is a car that you can easily get good times out of; very stable, comfy to drive. Other cars are a bit of a swine. It took me a long time to get out of the 2:18’s there; I’m now at 2:16.4’s or so in the Beemer. To answer your question though - you are not a beginner anymore!

@leytonaustin2359
@leytonaustin2359 3 ай бұрын
@@BradleySettersMotorsport yeah absolutely. Need to get it across all tracks, and definitely in other cars. Beemer is quite difficult to get time out of, like all the front engined cars. 2:18 to 2:17 was quite easy, but getting to 2:16 was really hard. Took ages. You need to use data I would suggest. Motec or popometer would be good. I can hop into a server with you one time if you want and do some onboard laps with you. Honestly I feel it makes a big difference. Its pretty well talked about that all the little movements in the platform you are on, means you lose small details in the wheel feel. @BradleySettersMotorsport will definitely look at upgrading, but from watching your video you have 20kmh on me exiting eau rouge and just over 10kmh as you brake at end of main straight so I need to work on that for sure, I'm running 8 on rear wing.

You can cut the inside curb at noname and run really wide up until the edge of the yellowred curbs with your left tires as for pouhon i have the same issues of being inconsistent. In stavelot you can also abuse track limits by basically going almost on the gravel to have a bigger angle for the next corner. And im also confused how people are still going faster as i have the same pace as you (i was a tenth faster) and honestly theres not much more in the lap maybe one tenth or more but anyways have a nice day.

Ok the beginner story etc.. but if i understood correctly, you did have a past on sim racing, 10 years ago or so.. with this said, your not starting completely from 0, like a real beginner.. and it’s noticeable!! so I would consider you something more than a intermediate sim racer, also because 100 hrs are not that much considering the improvement you get.. we can say you’re a “noob” on acc 😅😅.. great video btw! Keep going like this! You will get far!
@BradleySettersMotorsport

This is well described, thank you. In reflection I did not think that the skills of 10 years ago would have transitioned so quickly to a 'proper' sim like ACC. But it has allowed me to get over the initial hurdles of this game pretty quick. BUT, you are spot on saying I am a 'noob' to ACC. I still make some many beginner mistakes on tyre pressures and fuel calculations etc. And I'm certainly not top slit pace by any stretch. A credit to LFM players at this point, because everyone is so fast! Will keep learning and keep pushing!

For reference: I myself did a 2:15.5 (lower temps than you, so would probably be a 2:16.x with comparable temps). Here are some sectors times you want to get: 1st sector: low to mid 40s 2nd sector: ideally under 60 seconds, but you should try to get as close to 60 seconds as possible 3rd sector: low to mid 36s. You might think that the most time is gained over the 2nd sector, but this is really tricky since the sector is really long and therefore more errors can occur.

I've started getting into ACC/racing sim recently and working towards getting my license lfm. How did you manage to have your SA about 80? I don't know if it's because i did quite a few races against AI to start with and it dropped fast or if it starts you off quite low anyway. I've worked my way up to around 70 but can find it hard to get higher with public lobbies being as chaotic and/or low level as they can be.

No just keep at the AI races. I think the LFM community is better, although still chaotic. So just do what you need to hit that 80SA!

@docd3d 3 ай бұрын
A cheap trick/cheat is to do races (or even weekend practice) with only 1 low skilled AI car, follow it closely -as in: keep it 0.4 seconds ahead of you AT ALL TIMES. Do several laps and you will see your SA skyrocket. Edit: the higher the level of the AI, the faster you will gain, but you have to be able to keep it extremely close (less than 0,5 seconds) ahead of you constantly. As a bonus your CN and CC ratings will go up as well but it takes quite a while (+8 laps for CN to go up to around 90-95)

@sgtmetal91 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tips. I will try AI racing again and just follow close behind them. I find with AI tho that because they don't use the optimum racing line and the random AI behaviour that it can be difficult to not be crash into them. So i tend to do online races and hopefully find someone who can race consistent and follow them or someone to challenge against
@docd3d
@docd3d 3 ай бұрын
@@sgtmetal91 yeah, I can’t understand that, but it’s a ‘cheat’ and is even harder to do online, as the AI is very consistent, far more than most players online. Once you learn their little quirks, it’s not hard at all. Also pick a short track, that way it’s easier to learn their lines and progress is quicker since it’s on a lap basis. The only way to gain SA is being close behind other cars, AI or not, and not letting them get away (then you LOOSE SA). You’ll be at +90 in ‘no time’(it does take quite some time, but far less than trying the same online)
