In any brass instrument: The tone or note is set by the frequency of the vibrating lips, but the sound comes from the pulsed air that escapes each time the lips part. In open air much of the sound is pulsed noise, but the resonance of the tubing of a brass instrument acts like a low pass filter that eliminates most of the hissing air noise leaving only the fundamental frequency of the vibrating lips. Never the less, it's the pulsed air making the sound in a tuba or trumpet, not the smacking of the lips.

When I was a kid I had the Casio SK-5 sampling keyboard. Sampling was it's biggest selling points. Sample length was decent but in particular It could take extremely short samples. I would sample some wild stuff and make tones out of them. A drop of water, A pop in your knuckle, one pop of your voice box, etc. I miss that keyboard.

you can hold it in pitch and then sing a fifth above it - then you get AN OCTAVE LOWER because you are raspberry-ing the 2nd overtone and singing the 3rd - so that generates the 1st! kind of like power chords.

Andrew, you can use this technique to make very high pitched tones as well. Close your mouth and fill your cheeks with air. Now try to push all that air out of your mouth but keep your lips pursed tightly closed. Maintain the air pressure while slightly modulating the "muscle force" you're putting on your lips. It may take some practice but you'll be able to make very high pitched whines based on the same vibration principle you demonstrated in the video

Raspberries are basically the basis of brass instruments. Theoretically with a trumpet mouthpiece, you could get 440 hertz if you try for that A, right?
@ahtngm826510 ай бұрын
I just realised that a rasberry is a perfect way to get some started with beatboxing! since the syllable boils to the b sound. Like have people do a raspberry but mak e them only do like a single rasberrry, and you have a kick!
